This is the P-51D-10-NA named "Man O'War" (s/n 44-14292, coded QP*A) flown by then Lieutenant Colonel Claiborn H. Kinnard while Deputy Commander and later Commander of the 4th FG from September 1944 to December 1944. He was an ace with 8 aerial victories and 17 aircraft destroyed on the ground. He was also Commander of the 355th Fighter Group from February to May 1945. Decorations include the Distinguished Service Cross for a mission in which he scored three victories while being heavily outnumbered, the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross (7 OLC), Air Medal (8 OLC), Croix de Guerre (with Palm), and the Distinguished Unit Citation.
He survived the war but died in 1966 of a brain tumor.
This skin was originally created by Fencer and has been completely redrawn. (Hate mail will be returned postage due.) :devil
EDIT IN: The antenna is also OD so I will adjust that before I submit it.

Thanks, boss. Much appreciated. I had a lot of things to fix on it. They may stand out at first glance but there are many differences between this one and the original beyond the obvious changes to the metal and OD paint color. I think the change people will like the most is from inside the cockpit. The way the wings behave in sunlight really looks nice. Well, I think so any way.

One question I have is why quite a few of the new skins and this is one. With the camo paint it looks like they have eight coats of high gloss clear over the camo. This makes the plane paint look really bad. Even more so when it happens on a Spitfire it just looks weird.
When flying the plane and turning if you look out at the wings the camo and metal surface have the same high gloss look to them. Flat paint should not have a high gloss.
The paint job on this skin is very well done. I think it is the way the game is handling the light reflection off the surface that makes it look very strange.

If you look at paint, even the flattest will have some reflection. However, my painted areas are definitely not high gloss. At best they’re semi-flat. If you make them completely flat through the spec maps they wind up looking two dimensional on the 3D Shape which is really disconcerting.

Have you flown it yet with the update or were you flying the previous version?
It’s possible one of my maps got messed up. Let me jump online and see.
The metal and the paint should have much different properties.

Rebel, can you post a screenshot of what you’re seeing?
I flew it in the Match Play Arena and it looks okay to me, but my bias may be showing. (I’d post a screenshot of my own but my laptop wont show details due to the graphics card being so so.) If it’s wrong the fix is pretty easy, so let’s nail it down and I can tweak it as necessary. :cheers:

Okay. This is an easy fix. My E map is optimized for reflections off. I will update them to work properly with reflections on. Thanks for letting me know.
For now just turn them off if you want to see it properly.

You may want to check the last batch you did for the same issue... Thanks for taking the time to fix this I like to fly with reflections on as it sometimes gives away distant aircraft. It also gives away aircraft turning.

Agreed. This will be an issue for most of the skins I've done as I switched my E maps around. Thanks again for letting me know. I will fix them ASAP. :cheers:

Updated with better coloring. Original at bottom. I will eventually re-draw it completely but this is hopefully a step in the right direction in the interim.
