There are 5th dimensional beings that live inside the sun.  We are actually a 'virus' that has propegated it's body.  Google "electric universe".  Gravity is a wussy, electromagnitism ftw.

its a coronal hole we are at the solar maximum ghi. hence the sounds from the sky and the emergence in more northern lights. this all coincides with the temperature increase also. no biggie. coronal holes happen alot at the solar maximum no big deal :aok

The Important folk are gonna make a detour and the sun is on its way as well as the earth, we can't say they didn't warn us earlier, the paperwork was all there all these years clear as crystal. It's not their fault WE did not have the interest in checking it out and reading carefully... silly earth people.

Looks like a combination of sun spots and filaments (possibly compressed areas of the photosphere) exacerbated by the filter used to take the photo.  Looks like the chromosphere/corona is covering part of it.

During the solar maximum it is not unusual to see large dark areas in the Sun.  During the solar minimum it would be.

I look at it like this;  If the Sun is going to go there is not anything we can do about it, so why worry?  Personally, if it is going to go, I hope it does it before April 15.

William Herschel

His Genius Changed the World Because

He discovered Uranus, Oberon and Titania

But He Was Also Convinced of This handsomehunk Theory:

The sun's surface is cool, and inhabited by aliens with enormous heads.

William Herschel was a prominent astronomer in the late 1700s whose homemade telescopes utilized new principles still used today. By 1790, his discovery of Uranus and several of Saturn's moons placed him at the forefront of his field. So it was with great reverence that the scientific community regarded his 1795 paper, "On the Nature of the Sun and Fixed Stars." That is, until everyone realized that it was a bunch of impossible hogwash.

For starters, Herschel claimed that, although it certainly did look like a blistering ball of angry fire, the sun was cool on the surface. The discrepancy, Herschel claimed, was due to, like, clouds and stuff.

You can't see it because of all the fire,
but it's actually raining

Herschel was also obsessed with the notion that all planets were habitable and probably house aliens. Since he considered the sun to be a planet, Herschel explained that aliens on the sun would have to have special body parts to deal with all the sunshine. According to Herschel's calculations (yes, he actually sat down and tried to work this out on paper), anyone with a normal-sized head would explode on the sun. Which pretty much resembles all of our doodles from grade school. An alien on the sun, Herschel reasoned, would have to have a huge head so it wouldn't explode.

They must not have any eyes, because of
the constant blinding light surrounding them.

Herschel's assertions were placed under the scrutinizing eye of the astronomy community. Within 50 years, nearly all of his wild claims about Planet Sun would be disproved. We can only assume his claims were the result of staring at the sun with a giant telescope.

He saw it coming over 2 centuries ago.  It's time to surrender and hide the women.

For some other famous people.

From NASA

Coronal holes are variable solar features that can last for weeks to months. They are large, dark areas (representing regions of lower coronal density) when the sun is viewed in EUV or x-ray wavelengths, sometimes as large as a quarter of the sun’s surface. These holes are caused by players of Aces High hiding CV's in the Sun and creating large cells of unipolar magnetic fields on the sun’s surface; their field lines extending far out into the solar system. These open field lines allow a continuous outflow of high-speed solar wind. Coronal holes tend to be most numerous in the years following solar maximum.

what that dark spot REALLY is, is caused by the japanese.

ya see? they have waayyyy too many monsters over there. ultraman's been having to work overtime. and if you guys remember, he gets his super powers from the sun.
so if japan would stop breeding silly things like mothra, and other gihugic insect looking monsters, ultraman could take a break, and the sun would be fine.
they fired the space giants, because they couldn't pass emissions. johnny socco's giant robot became too expensive to repair, and his nuclear power source couldn't be renewed. godzilla finally realized that those silly humans were just using him, and retired to a quiet mountaintop. this left ultraman overloaded, and he is killing the sun.  :bolt:

I'm surprise that all the geniuses here hasn'r suggested this option.

Why not build a spaceship, fill it up with lawyers, and send them to the sun and give it a Cease and Desist Order?

Just sputballing an idea or two.

Space pirates harvested the giant meteor for its ice

Your post would have been censored, but then they'd have to bust out the ultrasecret rule #15 sub paragraph 2 section A rule violation.     :old:

What did I get rule 14'ed for? Razzing the president because of his office in general is in no way political. I guarantee you I  would have said the same thing would have been said if McCain had won, or if some third party had won, or even if the Whigs got started up again and got one of theirs elected.

So with editing, I repost it:

I wonder what a hypothetical, nameless, party-less president's oppinion of 2012 is. May be that hes planning to fire off a bunch of nukes, and send us off with a bang.

Yes but it can lead to a political debate among others
