Voting time!
Please pick one.
Ditto is very much hoping that people will pick Choice A, as that one is his baby. It sounds like great fun!
Choice A
Fjord Fury
It is late 1944/early 1945, and the British are using Lancasters and Tallboy bombs to go after u-boat pens, bridges, viaducts, and various other strategic targets (maybe including Tirpitz, Lutzow, and Prinz Eugen, if we can get a map mod).
Action: fighter combat, intercept, escort, strategic bombing.
Estimated plane sets:
RAF: Mustang IV (P-51D), Spit 14, Tempest, Lancaster
LW: 109K-4, 190D-9, Ta 152, (and if the German side wants some, 190A, 109G with gondolas, Bf 110G, and/or Me 410)
4 frames.
Choice B
Nuisance Raids
1942, RAF and Luftwaffe trading blows across the Channel following Battle of Britain.
Action: fighter combat, attack, tactical bombing.
Estimated planes sets:
Luftwaffe: Bf109F-4, Bf109G-2, Fw190A-5, Bf110C4-B, JU88A-4
RAF: Spitfire V, Spitfire IX, Hurricane IIb, Typhoon Ib, Mosquito 16
(Maybe add Hurri IIb and Mossie->Boston -- not sure yet)
4 frames.
Choice C
Pantelleria
Battle for Pantelleria (near Malta).
Action: fighter combat, tactical bombing, antishipping.
Estimated plane sets:
Luftwaffe: C205, BF109G-2, BF109G-6, FW190A-5, JU88A-4
USAAF: Spitfire V, Spitfire IX, P-40F, P-38G, B-26B
(Maybe add c202 and b-25 -- not sure yet.)
4 frames.

My 2 cents would be to wait until fall for the next scenario and really plan it out. Get COs and really hammer out plane sets and missions for the sides along with scoring system.

Summer months are difficult on Saturday afternoons USA. I would say wait until September. That being said, Pantelleria (with 190A-5's) would be my vote.
-
Summer time its gonna be impossible to commit 4 frames for me. I was hoping on a 12 hour event there. But A sounds like allot of fun.

Choice “C”. As a 12hr event. In the early fall (Septemberish).
-
"B", as a 12 hr event (due to difficulty in getting 4 Saturdays in a row open during the summer).
"A" sounds intriguing but I think it should have the details hammered out first - having the German capital ships anchored in fjords is critical to me for this type of setting so I can't vote for it on a "maybe/if we get a map mod" - it has to be 'in' and tested first. Also, the Royal Navy was operating F4Us from the HMS Victorious and had used them to provide air cover for attacks on the Tirpitz; that might be a great aircraft to include. Might help the design appeal to even more players.
-
B or C and I concur with a 12 hour event in the fall. I can get my whole squad involved throughout the day. :aok
-
They all sound like fun to me, maybe a slight preference for A. I also like Oboe's idea about adding in F4u, and have a slight preference for the 12 hour format. Basically, I'm easy, always enjoy scenarios and will participate when I can.
:salute
-
No strong preference, but "A".
-
They all seem well balanced...But A.. :aok :airplane: D9

Panty-lerra.

I vote C with a side of a 72 hour Scenario. Separate the men from the boys. :devil

How long is the voting going to go on for?

So let me lay this out again. We should be voting for the fall scenario. Look at your timeline.
1.vote
2.writeup
3.find COs
4.COs find GLs
5.Plan the event per side.
This setup is absolutely unfair to those folks who may step up as COs. The average pilot won't see this from thier seats. Your not giving enough time to advertise the event let the COs and GLs get thier groups together and actually get their people together to plan the event. Not even speaking on the issue of discrepancies in the event write up as far as aircraft and missions are concerned.
I dont follow why you would rush these events together and continue to either force experienced folks to take the reigns or burn prospective COs on their first attempts at a scenario.

We have 3 scenarios per year: approximately February, June, and October.
3 events in a year is not a gigantic feat.
Whether you think so or not, thought, this is a topic -- for anyone who wants to vote -- to write "A", "B", or "C".
-
Pantellaria "C"

Granted I’m probably to history minded, but it’s hard to vote based on the descriptions.
A-No Tempests or Spit 14s made the run to Norway. RAF Mustang III and IV did out of Peterhead Scotland. The 4th FG of the USAAF also escorted to Norway. Since we don’t have Beaus 😀. Mossies escorted by RAF 51s make sense. They could escort the Lancs too. For variety RN Avengers escorted by RN Hellcats and Corsairs makes sense. No 152s or K4s up that way either.
B-make it 43 and don’t make it offense for both sides. We made that mistake once before. In 42 the Tiffie was not being used as an intruder but thier tails were falling off. hurricane IIs were slaughtered. The Spit IX barely showed up until the end of the year. If you do 43 the AH plane set works better. Tiffie and Mossie Intruders. RAF Mitchell’s and Boston’s escorted by Spit V and IX. Spits were also escorting USAAF 26s as well. LW was on defense and knocking down lots of RAF as the Allies tried to keep them busy to relieve pressure on the Russian front.
C-this on is closest in terms of history and the plane set of the three as written. Seems like we’ve been there before though.
So history wise I’d vote C right now. I’d love to fly A however as it would be different and could be done more accurately with the AH plane set we have. As a kid I read about it in Roger Freeman’s book “Mustang at War”. The chapter was called “A Separate Little War”. I always thought that would be a great title for a scenario :aok

Lol yeah beacuse you don't have to lead em...all three of these options are ate up plane wise. And time will be needed to fix the opening write up once you decide what wild DnD time raid were heading out on. You are not making this fun for side COs the average guy will have fun for the most part no matter what is put up. The folks that lead these events shouldnt be thrown through the wringer just to squeeze out 3 event per year.

C and if you need any help testing flight times or anything ill help out.
-

Fear not. I have some relevant experience.
I've flown all frames of 52 scenarios.
I have been CO seven times and GL (where I participated in strategy and led portions of a side) another 25 times.
Some of those where I was CO were among the most-complicated designs. Also, I was axis CO in Rangoon, '42, which is one of the hardest (perhaps the hardest) on the axis side.
Anyway, despite any of that, history proves that running 3 scenarios per year works just fine.
It has been done many times, and worked out fine.

A. 12 hour event

What about a summer scenario ran on Saturday nights EST? I don't know about most people in here, but my summer Saturdays are filled until dark. If they are not, I will fill them with something that is not video games (weather allowing).
Granted it is not June, but last night we had around 70 players for Fortress Europe test. This was not what you would call heavily advertised, just some words put in FSO squads' ears. In fact, many from the MA decided to land their 5.0 ENY birds and chase bombers (in order to kill or protect) for an hour or two. I think a scenario around the same time could produce high numbers, plus no one would have to concede a summer Saturday afternoon. Just a thought.
-
A sounds good.
Wiley.
-
The problem with us night is that no europeans can play.

I vote C with a side of a 72 hour Scenario. Separate the men from the boys. :devil

For the finale, both sides spawn into the same area with jeeps and fight to the last man driving. Kill shooter off.

A has the vote.
Next up is posting a preliminary design for player input.

IMHO, lately, we don't have enough participants to make option A a viable scenario, unless you make it 12 hrs. Sorry but not gonna waste four Saturdays in June on this.
Good luck and see ya next time.

The one after this will be approximately October. Hope to see you in that one, Dace. <S>

Hoping you take into consideration, oboe's and Corky's suggestions of possibly including RN Avengers escorted by RN Hellcats and Corsairs
