Title: Momentary Icon Button
Post by: CptTrips on August 01, 2020, 10:26:17 AM
I would like a key or control button that can be mapped to a function of displaying icons in whatever current mode is set.

This would be separate from the icon mode function.

When not mapped, icons will always show in their specified mode.
When mapped, icons are not shown until the key or button is depressed and held.  Upon release, the icons are removed.

You could cycle through all the icon modes until you get to none, and then cycle though all the icon modes again to got to one you want, but that is awkward and tedious.

This might be an interesting mid-point between no icons and the current icon behavior.  I can keep icons out of my way when I don't need them, but have them available instantly if I need a read on something I can't quite make out.

Anyone not liking this mode, simply won't map it and so the icons would function as they currently do.

$0.02.

Isn't that possible now?  I have a button assigned on my joystick to change icon mode.. from normal through to off

Note 4th paragraph.

It is possible to do something like this currently, but it is awkward.

This would simply be a convenience feature to make it easier to do that.
