Title: Other than the HQ
Post by: Getback on February 22, 2015, 09:18:05 AM
I had a pretty good time. For the first time in years I flew a perked plane the C-Hog. Wow that will spoil you. I didn't get a ridiculous amount of kills, say like Rud3boi, in but when you hit them they knew it. I did lose one when I lost control, darn it! Seemed I forgot to let off the rudder pedals in the excitement.

Most of the night, between supplying HQ, Rude and I winged or were at least in the same vicinity. I tell you that was fun. I cannot describe it any better than that. The conversations, the headsup, and the oh so many kills Rude had. Many of them he didn't land, greedy rascal. But they were up there. As for me 2 per sortie seemed to be it for the night. We landed at I think 59 and were rearming, in comes a p47. You know it looks like he was targeting me. He's 5 k out, 4k, 3k, 2k, where's that clipboard! click, I'm outie. I saw thought that rockets would nail me before could get my shaky cursor on the exit. Rude was landing too. He quickly exits with 20 kills. He said a spit was about to vulch him. Wow I didn't even see the spit. He wanted to rearm!

Earlier the Rook defense had died down a bit and I was sitting in the tower wondering what to do. What the heck I'll drive an m3 with troops to 59. Many laughs from Rud3boi. However he rallies the countrymen and lets them know I am on my way. They start tearing down the town. I'm still coming folks! ITrollu asks if I want to hear what his wife is saying. Sure, "Tell him to stop making excuses" We all laugh at that. Well I'm pedaling as fast as I can.

When the Rooks see the town go down they panic. What lose a base?! so they start upping. Well that is what Knights want. Those guys never even got close to the town. Waystin nails one or two gvs with his b25 and then strafed the town. Finally I'm there and not a Rook near me. We get the base!

Late and late in the day, we head to 132 to see what the Bishops are up to. After nailing a couple of 26s I head to Rud3boi who seems to be heading my way. Well it seems a couple of guys he killed wanted revenge oh lordie were they after them, a K4 and an La 7. Sad to say all I could do was distract them a wee bit but a couple of other countrymen came to the rescue. I don't know how he survived that but he did. They had him front and back. You know he has a way of ticking off the red guys.

We land a few kills and then the HQ goes down. After resupplying HQ I call it a night.

Anymore when the HQ goes down I just log I spent too much time resupplying headquarters just to have it get knocked out right after its resupplied... If the HQ is so important why is it the least defended with ack...

68Zoom When HTC made the maps they didn't think dweebs like the 49'ers would keep hitting HQ. I hope next update something is done. BTW Sabot and I had a great time beating up the rooks. After the fight died on the rooks ended, I decided to check out the bishops. I came across a couple great fights there, one fight i killed sawzaw. This guy doesn't like to accept dying, so he comes back with an LA7 friend and tried to gang me but they failed horribly and got shot to pieces. I Rtb to my base and called it a night since retards like the 49'ers kept hitting our HQ. It sure annoyed the crap outa me but I can imagine how boring it was for them flying 6 sectors to 30K then bailing after. They kept repeating it over and over.

Logged in yesterday at around 10:30, and two countries had their HQ down. Then to find a fight? No no no.... :D

HQ and DAR not really needed to find a good fight. Just look at the map and you'll find clues.

At prime time yes.
During off hours, when often most enemies are tanks tring to kill a town, or high altitude bombers, hardly.
When you have only like 20 active players total and see bases flashing here and there without any vis, or suddenly have a factory being bombed, the situation is much different.

No, DAR is only for those that need to have their hands held.  The amount of crying over this is amazing.

 :salute A8Balls...

Hope to be back on soon

The real crying will start when there is no game to play because people quit on principle.  SMH

Pretty soon, you'll want Playstation arrows directing you how to climb, dive and fire your guns too...... :lol

The same people that will say the world/country sucks "because people have everything handed to them and don't have to work for anything" .....just so happen to be the same people crying over DAR in a game, because they don't want to "work" for their experience.

Overcome.  Adapt.  This game is not one dimensional... and everyone who seems to be arguing about radar is making it so.

It is easy to find a fight in any aircraft, with any loadout, in any arena with any amount of players,  WITHOUT a bright red arrow pointing you to one.  But, it may take an extra 5 minutes... I guess the HDD kicks in for so many of you.

Cheers!

And when was the last time you played?

And when was the last time you played?

So this is where you ask to see my credentials, Fugitive?  Because the fact that I've been around since Air Warrior paying by the hour, through all the iterations of AH  has any effect whatsoever upon the topic?  Really?  That's your angle?  Ad hominem much?

So now every poster has to pull out their little AH card, stamped, to make a point? C'mon man, you don't need to be that guy.

It seems all the "fighter guys" just want to cry about the MA not being a bigger DA, but that's my opinion. You are free to disagree at will.  IMO radar is just another tool.  Have it or not, it doesn't ruin any of the fun that is this game.  All these folks claiming they're gonna quit because of not having pretty little dots to run after are acting like children whining about not getting the good swing at recess.   :salute

Not exactly.  If all you want to do is roll bases you're right, it doesn't affect you much.

If however, you play to defend, no dar puts a serious crimp in your playstyle.  Without radar and bardar, one dolt in a chute flashing a field looks exactly like 20 aircraft trying to take the base looks exactly like 20 GVs trying to take a base.

Additionally it makes the singleton high alt buffs avoiding dar circles invisible until they flash a base.  At that point, unless you're lucky enough to be at alt in their area, there's no way to react in time to stop them.

Quite often time players are conveniently ignoring the significant difference in gameplay between an arena of 250 players and an arena with 25 players (of whom maybe half are active).

No dar can be annoying at prime time, but more often than not there are actual battles in progress, which you indeed can find.
Not so at off hours, where it's mostly about hunting down single players here and there. And resupping HQ is often about impossible either. It's a totally different world.

I ask, because it's relevant. Basing the numbers off vehicle captures ranking there are 20% less players today than one year ago. Gone are the days of a weeknight prime time US pushing 400 players. Now it's more like 200 (192 as I type, and 160 are in flight, a little over 50 players per side), weekends maybe 400 if there isn't something good on TV.

As Lusche said, prime time Euro wasn't stellar back in the day, but these days 25? Weekends maybe 100? Front line bases on a large map, about 20, that means EURO prime weekends one guy has to cover 2 bases by himself.

I know back when you played it was different, there were more players, playing more ways, trying different things. Today it isn't like that. IF you find a player he either bails or runs most of the time, unless he holds ALL the cards. Then he'll make a run or two at you THEN run when you avoid his lame HOing attempts and he starts losing his advantages.

Now you add in the lack of DAR. You fly over from the base next to a flashing base. You get there to find a porking buff at 25k, and guy porking the base who dies to ack while yo try to catch him, or the a for mentioned bailer/runners, or a horde of 25 guys trying to take a vehicle base.

It's a different game these days. With lower populations what was a small inconvenience before now becomes a major issue.

Oh please enlightened us with the vast store of knowledge you have accumulated while having your head firmly stuck in the ground.

I know you have an issue when people point out what they see as issues with the game, after all nobody's opinion matters but yours. Please point out all my errors.

+1 to this whole post.

If you don't spend any time defending, you won't have nearly as much of a problem with the loss of darbars.
