On 15 March 1942 P/O Geoffrey Charles Atherton was posted to 75 squadron which was the sole fighter defence of Port Moresby during its 44-day deployment from 21 March to 3 May 1942. Thirty-nine enemy aircraft had been destroyed in the air or on the ground, and 54 damaged, for the loss of 12 pilots and 24 aircraft.
He named his plane Cleopatra, painted on the right side only, the first of 3 such named planes. It was ex RAF stock which came with British markings that were haphazardly changed to suit the situation, though for some reason they omitted painting out the red on the underwing roundels.

Good-looking P-40, FTJR. I want one!
The hues of the green and drab look quite believable to me. Some engine soot/exhaust stains aft of the exhaust manifolds might look well on her too. From the extent of the leading edge chipping/wear of the wings, she looks to have seen some use. And maybe trailing the underwing shell casing ejection ports.
Really nice looking bird though, love the underside shot.
