Title: 50 years or older.
Post by: Bixby on July 01, 2020, 10:54:22 AM
This post started 13 years or so ago.

I hope those who responded are still here with us.

I will turn 71 this month. Since I retired five years ago this month this game has become my go to way to get away from real life "stuff". WWII aviation has been a lifelong interest of mine. Those who know that chapter of history, know  how I feel.

My wish is that there are younger people who love aviation and history will embrace this game/simulation and join us old f%rts in some fun and camaraderie.

Broke 60 a few back and mentioned to a friends son 30, who was all "hey dave I got VR and DCS is so cool!"
Talked briefly about learning to fly a plane versus, let me correct that, DCS and AH { and mentioning I never tried DCS } and he's been with us a few weeks now.
I haven't thrown the whole AH book at him but he did land 3 last Tuesday.

There is something funny about him though, he's one of those guys who hit's things with sticks.

harder to play nowdays, vision isn't what it used to be and need some eye work that old fogies seem to always need. After that maybe I can focus again.

I started when the game started. Quit and came back twice. I turned 65 recently, so flying almost 20 years now. In my mind... thats another story. As I once read: the art of living is to die young, but as late as possible. I’ll stick to that one.

If he said he was 70, then that would have been Whel's Dad..... Mike Koon Sr.

Whels was my age or a couple yrs younger....... I'm 52 now

I really do miss talking to Whels/Mike....

Happy Birthday

I started in AOL AW, Trying to remember the year - 1990 maybe? NoBaddy (NB) and Coach helped me a lot - good guys, think about them often, I kept getting yelled at - Hey Newbie, read the instructions, because I kept pulling the trigger on the runway as planes spawned in front of me, AW was fun and when it died came here...

Kept the name and only once in awhile I shoot at my own side :)

NwBie

oh yeah I'm 64 this year  ...

Vilkas gave it up a couple years ago. We lost a lot when he left. He is doing well and pops into our squad bbs once in a while. Canukk said he talks to him on facebook on occasion.

63 and started Warbirds in 1995. Came to A/H when it went live and been here ever since. HT has provided many hours of fun to this WWII aviation nut.

It’s been 10 years, maybe more since we’ve spoken or I’ve seen him online. Back around 2005 +\- he was CO of The Damned after Egger left (for whatever reason I can’t recall) There was a huge political fuss on the squad email server (Lew was VERY liberal in his thinking) that caused him to resign his commission as CO. Shortly after he pretty much disappeared from the game and he stopped calling. Too bad, he was a VERY funny, and pretty smart guy, Good stick, too.

He was in the 80th for a very long time. Yes extreme liberal but if you just played AH.... he was a great person and we had lots of fun flying in the squad. He recently was lined up to fly in a Scenario but didn't make it.

Bixby, I was a commercial pilot for years and had to stop for medical reasons but ace high is very close to it except you don't feel the air under your wings or the cross wind landings and a few other things you come across. But now I'm 74 and its still all good. If I'm not up to par with the enemy I just pack up  my toejam and move to another base or fly bombers at  30K to keep out of everyone's way. Best wishes Popason  :old:

Gort.... were you flying tonight? Were you having problems with your setup?

I ask as I shot someone down with that name and they hardly moved. They were in a Corsair the first time and a 190 later.  Just wondering if you need some help.
