Title: Dust plumes for GV?
Post by: sourkraut on August 13, 2001, 11:46:00 AM
Saw the smoke/steam plumes for the train in HT's post. Wouldn't dust plumes be nice for GV. Level of dust could be a function of speed and terrain type. Would add a little bit of strategy to GV movement.

Would also make them more easily spotted from the air. Not sure if that would be a good thing. Deffinetly good for defending AC, not so good for attacking GV's. Maybe a very slight dust trail when they are hauling butt, but no trail at say half speed.

How about, a dust plume when driving on the 1.08 roads, and no dust off road or stopped?  (Assuming they will be able to go faster on the road than off.)  Also, remove the (enemy) icons entirely.  This would allow GVs to "hide" by stopping, simulating tree cover or camouflage.

I asked for this several times before.  Since we have planes that trail smoke of various colors, it seemed like the code changes would be minimal.  I'd also like to see ships trail smoke when they're hit but not sunk.  I'd like to see a more complex damage model for ships, too.  For instance, gun turrets should be able to be destroyed individualy, just as you can loose the individual guns on a tank.

reduce icons for gv below  0,5 distance but fix before the  m 3 and m 16 super kilers

Popeye, wouldn't make more sense to have a GV create a dust trail when traveling in the rough rather than on a paved road? (Assuming the 1.08 roads are paved)  :D

Uh....yeah.  But then my idea won't work.  Guess 1.08 roads will have to be dirt.   :)

(They can turn off the dust plume in the rain.)
