This is going to be another U.S. heavy bomber raid with B-17Gs. As always lift off is 8PM CT/ 9PM Eastern. Bombers altitude cap will be set at 25k. All fighters escorts and interceptors alts will be 30K max.
Allies will roll from A21 circled in blue and will target one of the axis strats not including the HQ outlined in red.
Axis will roll from A46 outlined in green. I ask that the axis fighters stay to the right of the yellow line until the allies show up on radar or are spotted so they have a chance to make it to the target. I suggest that the axis not roll until about ten or fifteen minutes after allies roll since fuel burn is set at 2.0.
Axis have a free range chose of what they want to intercept with and allies have their chose between any P-38, P-47, or P-51 to keep is historical. The only set plane is the B-17G.

I'll be in a P-47 this mission, unless numbers are needed elsewhere.

Should be interesting. Fuel management issue will be closer to history than it usually is.

I'll wing with you if you're going to be in a Jug. ;)

Sure thing!
Course I may end up in a bomber. I'd like to see a healthy bomber fleet. This mission is gonna make for some great film. Now if only I had the time to put that film together and make a few movies...
-
I'd like to wing with you guys.
I've got bad case of Jug fever after watching William Wyler and John Sturges 1945 Thunderbolt documentary. :rock
-
Jug it is then :)

I love that plane always have since I was a kid. I suck in them but still love to fly them. :aok
-
Same here Shifty. First model plane I ever made was a P-47. When I joined the game it was to fly a P-47, that's why my handle is "Republic".
There's just something about it... It's the F-14 of piston aircraft.
I'm only mediocre in it, it's an incredibly tough plane to fly, but at least the way it's modeled in AH, it does have a few tricks up it's sleeve.
-
As a kid I read everything I could about WWII aircraft built hundreds of models mainly the 99 cent Revell 1/72 scale kits as a kid.
My favorites were forged early around age 10-12
USAAF- P47
USN/USMC-F4U
Luftwaffe-FW-190
RAF- Hurricane
IJN -A6M
IJAAF- Ki-61
After countless deaths in them in AW,WBs, and AH, they're still my favorites. ;)
-
Dunno which side I'll be on (love both the P-51B and the 109G6R6), will have to watch the numbers.
But I'm in. :salute

49th will be flying 38Ls if the player # permits

Can one of the staff members disable darbar for the night for the mission?
-
Well done mission tonight, and some fun action afterwards. Thanks for the effort Larry, and Staff with arena setup. :salute
-
Great fun tonight everyone. We had about forty people in arena overall and about thirtyfive were in the mission. Allies took off with ten sets of B-17Gs, two P-51Bs, two P-38Ls, and five P-47Ns. :aok
Pictures are loading as we speak.

The 2.burn wasn't fully factored in our pre-flight, only lifted with 2 75gal. D.tanks, 75% int. Made to target with 8 min. left of juice with bombers.

It was pretty tight, took 75% and 2 DT's and had to go to max cruise early in the flight.
I should have taken 100%. It was probably close to realistic.
-
Thanks for organizing this, Larry. I managed to get in at the tail-end of the mission, looks like the rest of it was as fun as the last of it.

I took 100% and DTs in a P-51B and didn't have enough gas to make it back. Got to the target with less than 10 minutes left to get back. Ran out and had to ditch at sea short of friendly territory.

No comment! :P

Incidentally, and apropos of nothing...
Why was there the P-47N and P-38L, but no P-51D??

For the same reason that there's no 109K-4: it's too uberl33t.
-
Actually the P-51B is more maneuverable, the P-51 just has better guns and longer range at alt...

Poor puppet in his 38, shouldn't have dragged him along :(
