My desert 110c and my Graf 190a5 are being processed. I finally got a reference number for both!
Only 1 more skin in there waiting for a ref number!
-
yep 3 of my skins just got confirmation emails too! THX skuzzy!
-
All the skins are in the queue Krusty. If you are missing a confirmation, then it is because 1) I do not have it, or 2) You did not get the email I sent you about it.
-
Hrm... I've not got a message for it. It was the 190a5 for "2./JG11 1943 Erich Hondt" -- with the white tail and the red stripe on the side.
That's odd... Twice I've sent it, twice it's not made it through....
I'll resend it (Third time's a charm, right?)
-
got all of the ones i sent in in the que hope to see them all soon
-
Are there any P-51D skins about to be released!!!???!!!
-
I think Fester did a couple. And he said he got 3 confirmation notices, so you might expect at least a few. (I think others have made plenty, as well)
-
yep I had 2 P-51D's and a P-38G submitted all got confirmations :)
cant wait hehe :)
-
So, its Friday.
I have flown all week looking forward to new skins sometime this week.
Should I plan on downloading them this evening? :D
Bueller?
Bueller? :rofl
-
No, we just got the "Your skin has been received, here's your number, we'll review it and get back to you" messages. There's still the review period while they check the skin out and test it, so they're not going to be ready yet.
-
Good news; they are processing the submitted skins!! Just got an accept reply on mine (#6 in P-51b queue).
Do not despair, fellow skinners. :-)
-
2 of mine got accepted
One of them was a P51 from the same squad as one of fester's skins but without the yellow nose, if needed Fester's Lou IV can replace the one I did for that squad.
-
Thanks for the tip! I checked my mail and 2 190a5s (Graf and Hondt) made it in, along with a desert colored 110c4!
EDIT: Odd, I got no e-mail confirmation that the Hondt skin was received or even being considered, but I got the "accepted" notification! woohoo!
P.S. Skuzzy ignore the re-send I sent of Hondt, it's identical to this.
-
i got 4 out of 6 accepted one iwas too late for and one is a spitfire .
i got a la7 2 p47 d11s and a p51b accepted
-
Cool. Looks like I got 2 P-38Js on the way. Yay!
-

1 p38G accepted: "EARTHQUAKE McGOON"

The P51D will be maxed out after this release (15 custom + 1 default). No more slots.
We actually had pick two of the skin submissions for the P51D to not release as we are two over. Tough call as all the skins looked really great.
-
Skuzzy, what did you do with the old p51d skins? Seems there were far more than 15 of them. Correct me if I'm wrong, but does HTC rotate the skins (swapping some in, some out) over time, if you have more than 15?
-
Got three in-
RCAF P-51D "Edmonton Special", RAAF P-51B (camo with blue rudder), and Brazilian P47.
Thought we'd see them today along with the map reset.
-
I do rotate the overflow of skins, but it is not timely. Skins based on models which get updated are removed, as they will not fit the new model. For instance, with this next release, all the current 109 and Spitfire skins will be removed from the game.
The game will only support 16 total skins, per plane/vehicle, at any given time.
-
And one of those 16 is the default skin, IIRC.
Sorry to hear about LOU IV not making it, and now the 51D slots are all occupied...
-
yeah I figured that would happen.
I was tempted to submit LOUIV without complete final details because it looks really good as is but I held on to it to finish it.
oh well 2 out of 3 aint bad. :D
-
I'm sure it'll be good enough to bump one of the existing P-51D skins, but it may mean it'll take even longer to get in the game.
One the plus side, we may learn a little about HTC's decision making process regarding which skins get bumped. Will it be strictly a quality issue, or do they take into account factors like FG coverage, and spreading the skins among different skinners?
Maybe you should submit what you have now, and update with final details later?

Skuzzy,
Excellent news about the skins, I am so darn anxious to fly some of the new P-51s.
One of the great things about this game is the ability to have different aircraft markings based upon personal choice.
I assume, please correct me if I am wrong, that the 15 skins + default limits are based upon a maximum number of different skins that the player's computer memory can handle and or the front end can handle.
Having said that, there are obviously some planes which will never need the 15 spots reserved for them (163, 262, C47, KI84, etc).
Does the game's architecture allow for these potentially unused slots to be allocated to other planes, such as the P-51s, FW190s, Spits etc ?
Just curious.
Cheers
-
The limit per plane/vehicle/boat is fixed at 16 total skins each. No robbing Peter to pay Paul.
-
Skuzzy,
Is there anything in the log file about which skin is selected for flight? Just wondering, can you guys tell which are the really popular skins for an a/c and which ones rarely see use?
-
That would be a very interesting statistic to see. However, I must admit that when I was flying a little today I did not check which skin I was using half the time.
-
lol too many people did pony skins lady doris was accepted but after skuzzy saw others changed mind all the same lol :p
Said he might have a skin rotation
-
What did Lady Doris look like? People used to upload their skin submissions to ah-skins.com, and that was a convenient place to see all the skins for a particular a/c that had been submitted.
Now its kinda confusing though - lots of the skins there are obsolete due to model changes.

They removed those, if I recall. I think the 15 slots are all taken up by recent submissions. There has been a veritable boom in the p51D skins, haven't you noticed? At least it seems that way in the past months here in this forum.

I wonder if in all those submitted 51 skins there's a Tuskeegee skin????
-
You'd have to ask Skuzzy. He's been thinking about a list of the accepted skins/skins in review, so he might let ya know if ya ask :)
-
most 51 skins came from machnix ;)
-
I might be wrong here - but I thought that as folks hone their skills at skinning, the quality of thier skins will increase, and they could "bump" out other skins that might be deemed sub-par in comparison.
-
thats what I thought as well waffle.
it seems a better system than rotating in sub-par skins.
I think the quality of many skins done quickly right after the plane was released are ussually pretty low quality and replacing them with very refined high quality skins would be preferable maybe not to the skinner getting bumped but to the players using the skins.
that may sound harsh but the skins I think need to be bumped if any by higher quality skins are the ones the skinner only spent a week making from rehashing the default skin anyway. and you can always tell which ones those are.
-
my skinning is gettng better but i have to be in the mood and some times that takes weeks or months i started i think 5 p51d skins and i think my yellow nosed one was good enough for the grade but didnt send it in after some one posted on here they had theres.
I posted 2 skins on the skin site and the rest are siting in a folder.
personaly i think maybe a couple of skins from one skinner should be sent in to give the others a chance then if theres any room next time send a better one in but not ones that all look the bloody same apart from a red stripe or yellow stripe.
i noticed some where some one did 5 skins that basicly were the same apart from a stripe or two i just hope he didnt submit them all and others got a chance
oh yes and i know i submitted 3 p47d11 before any one says 2 were drab one silver but one was for hap1 and id already sent in the drab one
the silver one was too late
-
Some of us suk at skin making ;)
Since ive spent two years in adobe i can make a great looking skin if i wanted to.
Was gunna remake right after being accepted.
Anways i don't think its fair to us that some get to make 5 or 6 of one plane..
(edit i did my fast because i knew people would spam 51d slots dont matter now haha)
