Title: Quick Question
Post by: Doc72CH on February 15, 2022, 01:23:17 PM
I've been using the Oculus Quest for a little while (few months) and everything has been running well. Recently however, during flight and usually in a fight, my head center shifts 90 degrees to the left. Basically I'm looking down the right wing. When I hit recenter, it will recenter correctly but still in the 90 degree left position. In order for me to straighten it out, I have to lift the headset off for a min (tough to fly sideways in a fight or with headset off) only to have it happen again in a few minutes.

Does anyone have a fix for this?

Double check all your key and axis mappings. I've had this happen and it was some strange axis mapping.

I've had that randomly happen to me too with my RiftS. I do the same thing, pop it on and off. Hit center button and it's fine. Might not happen again rest of that session. No idea what causes it.

It seems to coincide with the other odd glitch I have with my controllers. Like I'm having a power bump or something. Throttle and RPMs go to like half out of nowhere. Will usually do it twice in a row and be fine for a while. Only happens with AH. Can't replicate it anywhere else. Other games, test programs, nope. Been bugging me for months, never got to the bottom of it.

I have the same problem - it happens like 2 or 3 times but seems to go away.   I looked at the Net Status chart and I can see spikes on Host Queue Time chart that correspond to the loss of engine power.

Never thought to look at that. Will test it offline and see if it still does it to rule it out. Was trying to replicate exactly before.

Thank you Vulcan, Drano, and Oboe!!! I will look at the mapping. I have that same power setting issue. Ends up putting me into the unrecoverable death spin regardless of which plane I'm in.

Throttle dropping to half or worse to zero.. Randomly.. hate that, especially when you dont realize it and next thing you know your E is gone.. Get a can of electronics cleaner, its like Carb cleaner but for sensative electronics. get a can and spray the crap out of your controllers. Especially any slide surfaces.. It will clear that issue right up..
Here is what I use.. https://www.amazon.com/CRC-05103-Electronic-Cleaner-11/dp/B000BXOGNI

For the random head center misalignments... There is a couple ways I have found to correct that... the first one is my go to.. without taking off the headset, press the Oculus Home button like you would to exit an app and use the recenter button. The second way is to grab your keyboard, sit in the position you feel you need to be and hit F10. Third is to remove headset, use arrows to recenter the cockpit view and hit F10..

drano, I had the same problem.. Get a can of QD Electronics Cleaner and spray generously all working surfaces of your controllers and you will be good to go.
