Title: (newby)AH continually reboots computer
Post by: bjazer on January 13, 2002, 05:46:08 PM
AH continually causes my PC to restart after about 5 minutes of play.

I am running an AMD K6II 500, 256MB RAM, Monster banshee 16 MB RAM, Windows 2000 with DirectX 8.0a.

Also, I am logging into the training area and I can't figure out where the chat is.

Thanks,
.Jazer

Your system is probably overheating and thus rebooting.  AH is going to put an extreme load on that system.  Try taking the side of the case off and having a fan blowing into the system and see if the problem is resolved.  Those Banshee video cards ran extremely hot.

Thanks for the reply.  I have had heat issues before with the monster.  The stock fan on the heatsink actually failed then I mounted a larger one on it so I figured that this might solve my heat woes.

I will try a couple of different cooling methods, your suggestion being first, to see if this is truly the issue.

I have used this system to play EA/Janes Longbow 2 with the 3Dfx enhanced drivers installed and it performed beautifully.  Believe it or not, this little card works better on this particular system than a newer 32 MB nVidia card.

I will give your suggestions a run hopefully I can start getting into this game.
