The sea looks terrible from altitude. It is just a featureless blanket of blue with a gradient. At least the clouds cast shadows on it which is great. At low altitude the water get a texture which looks good.
This is not how the real sea looks like from 20,000 feet or even 10,000 feet. It also make me lose any sense of altitude. I already splashed twice in a dive when suddenly the water texture appeared and it was too late to pull out.
Real water have a wavy white texture that do give some general sense of altitude. Nothing in nature is such a smooth gradient blue with no texture at all like the sea in AH III seen from high up.
The second complaint is about the big box dots at max range. At some shorter distance just outside icons range these turn in a tiny single pixel dots. This is completely counter intuitive and wrong. I am happy with the increased dot range, but the farthest planes should be the smallest dots, or since we are at the pixel limited, as small as possible.
Otherwise, I love the new graphics. Runs smooth on my middle of the road computer. Clouds are huge huge improvment to the game. WTG HTC :aok

Agreed
Water looks like a sheet of dark blue glass at certain distances. Further just as I can get the sky to "split" by tilting my view at certain altitudes (TIR) I can get the water to pixilate.
Dots are mentioned below but it does effect game play to be made aware of aircraft at extreme range only to have them disappear at an intermediate range.
Further I believe I picked up one of these long range dots representing a GV .............. at least I saw the exact same long range dot I see for aircraft ...... but now on the ground (at the same distance) and, having locked onto its location, flew there to find an M3.............. is this possible or was there an ac there when a saw the dot and a gv there when I arrived?

So it sort of depends on the sea state, and the altitude.
The picture of the boat is over the North Sea off the coast of England...zoomed in.
The sea2 picture is off the North East Coast of England...from higher alt yet you can see ripples.
The last picture is off the coast of Florida...and shows sea and bay. Pretty calm day...
Blue-blue (blue up, blue down) is a real life factor over the water.
Ripples help judge alt in the 2d game....maybe they can be set so they can be seen from higher up.

A perfect example of blue blue here....
Take a good look at the picture...hard to tell sea from sky...
Now look bottom right and note the boat....

I agree. water could use some texture.

I would like more like this :

Agree on water.. looks great low and pretty bad at altitude.

Post latest update (P4)--water is near featureless at low altitude.
See snapshots for low alt water--watched numerous friends and foes do controlled flight into terrain (water) and guys just left the cv fight as result.
Not sure what happened to earlier water texture, but it appears to be AWOL.

just seen the water in this latest release please change it back.

It has to be a programming switch that got left in the wrong position. Hitech will fix it.
You'd think HTC left the latch to the henhouse off the peg, or something, the way everyone joins in!

At low altitude for me it is very hard to judge distance to the water.
Yesterday is seemed like the water jumped up and smacked both myself and the guy I was chasing. He was 600 ahead of me and he just vanished! Then BAM I am in the tower.

It's a bug, fixed for next patch.
