Ok, I'm no expert with the P-38, but watch this vid.
http://youtu.be/Lqm-llHWRDs?list=UUUSLmTXn0xIiDv0lICzmavQ
TLDW:
Take off, shoot down spit (he ups an N1K)
Multiple merges before engaging a P-51D (who immediately shoots off my elevator)
Work the flaps and dual throttle to fight. :t
--Spit Jumps in takes off an elevator (is a pretty bad shot) :uhoh
****THEN I OIL P-51 AND TAKE ON THE SPIT***** get hits on the spit AS I RUN OUT OF FUEL (he runs) :x
^^^^N1K (1st spit) back for revenge... evade him able to ditch/land and watch him blow-up before I end sortie. :ahand
This is the .ah file: ppl with better editing skills can use it to teach. :rock

Well, we have all augered our share of P-38s but if the VH goes down too--"mission success!"

You're a real pilot, aren't you? I'm guessing military background.

Man that joystick, dual throttle and track IR stuff looks pretty fancy. One of these days
...
Nice plane, good defensive moves.

Sweet film and very nice set up there Red :aok

From his Utube page there is a picture of him in what I'm pretty sure is an AH64 or perhaps AH1Z helmet. Some kind of helo helmet with the tracking helmet deal and the right eyepiece optic arm on it. Maybe Red will tell us his story, sounds like he was medical'd out of the aviation side of service, which must really, really suck, and I understand not wanting to spill that on a public forum. Either way, nice to see he's got a decent setup and likes to fly here and DCS.
Very diverse and interesting bunch of videos on his youtube page, I do hope Red will post some info regarding his aviation service and such, even without the medical stuff. I too lost my job due to medical, and my ability to go back to air traffic controlling as well because being unable to pass the medical here in Canada now, leaving my 2nd option off the table as well. Sucks.

Great film :salute
Game sounds would have ruined it.

Nah I would have loved to hear the communications going on between him and cheroke. Both great sticks.
I was the Dora that got shot by Cheroke. And my squaddie was in the Pony in that fight. He said it was such a fun fight.
Great job on both ends guys. :salute

Yep, I was a CW2 in the army AH-64D pilot almost 1,000 hours. But during my last trip to Afghanistan, found out I had become a type 1 Diabetic, and FAA says you CANNOT fly commercially with that.
I've been in the army for about 12 years and things change so I was okay with getting out. My final day in was this past August. Didn't want to reclassify to another job, how do you go from operating 17,000 lbs of pure American Shut the F*ck UP, to something else? (still trying to figure that part out)
That said, I can still pursue and keep a civilian license.
So I have a lot of extra time on my hands now to play AH!

Thanks for your service.

You cannot fly 135 I guess?

Thought so. Your control inputs, especially pre-combat when you were turning and holding altitude, were all too familiar. Always good to see real life translate over to the game.
Hooah!

Cool vid. Perfect SAPP landing too
-
Just a hint:
Would be a tad more impressive if you hadn't have alt advantage and 2-4 vs 1 advantage during the fights :D
