Title: Anybody taken a look at VR chairs
Post by: Dichotomy on May 12, 2022, 08:56:38 PM
Okay I'm getting greedy but I've denied myself toys for almost a decade.  In order gaming rig, CH gear, (already got my Quest 2), but just screwing around I stumbled into gaming chairs like the yaw 2.  Seems like it could be fun in game.  Anybody have any experience with something like that?

Most of the cartoon pilots I know just use what is called a jet seat.

I have a GT Ultimate motion chair. It's fun for flying airplanes and it's awesome for helicopters and driving sims.

That just looks like too much fun.  I do wonder how the chair handles loops and barrel rolls

Do any of these device work with aces high?
It tends not to be supported with a lot of things.
I have a gs 5 seat dosnt work with aces high or dcs.

If you look at the Clipboard/Options/Controls/Force Feedback page you'll see where Hitech added Output Flight Data and a port for communicating with other software. My chair will follow joystick input through DX but I haven't tried working with the flight data yet.

Wish I new a way to make the gs 5 work. It's pretty awsome.

New question as I'm about to buy a new chair.  How do you guys deal with the battery pack on the back hitting the head rest?  I'm not keep on 'flying' for hours at a time with my head tilted a bit forward.  Seems uncomfortable to me.

I don't have a battery pack but my headrest has a removeable cushion.

One thing you could do is put a cushion behind your back, that will move you forward to give you some headspace.

I was thinking either that or just getting a long charge cord just to keep it charged throughout the day and gaming.

I expect you'll need the data/power cord for flight sims and run Oculus on your PC using the Quest 2 as a headset.

I have this one. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B083JQR7TR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have something similar in my cart.  Based on what I predict income vs expense to be I'm looking at an early November return to the game date.  It was going to be earlier but I decided to go a bit bigger with the gaming rig.  And, before anybody starts telling me to build my own, that's a solid nope from me.  I have one in my cart already that fits everything I want it to do and the warranty has a very large appeal to me.  It's just going to depend on if my side gig pays off like I project it should.

As long as it's a USB 3.1 Gen2 Type C it should work for data as well as power.
