Title: 1070 or 1080
Post by: SIK1 on July 15, 2017, 11:00:50 AM
Didn't know if I should post this in the Tech forum or here. Went with here since I'm looking for VR specific advice.

Looking for opinions. Will a good 1070 keep me happy in the VR world for the next couple of years, or is it worth stepping up with the $100 or so difference for a good 1080?

If it's only 100 diff I'd go 1080. I have the 1080ti and I increase pixel depth in aces high with everything on I use a setting of 1 to 1.5 and 1.5 starts to crush it a little.

So looking into the future if that were my choice I'd get the 1080 but to be clear that's for upcoming games.  1070 would hold aces high alone into the future.

But if you will be getting the latest games in the next few years I'd go 1080.

The 1070 works with default VR graphics options in AH3 but I agree the 1080 is a better choice.

A friend of mine that you may remember once told me to get the best you can afford. His name was TR!X btw  :)

Seeing as technology is ALWAYS moving forward you will never be at the cutting edge for very long. If you can handle the extra $100 go for it, even if it means you have to wait a couple weeks to add that money to the kitty.

That's what I would do.

Fully agree with the previous ones. If you can afford the VR gear, don't skimp on the motor that drives it.

Similarly, if you buy a Mustang, you don't want it with a Taurus engine.

Thanks for the input all.

I had originally planned on going with the 1080, but was thinking  :headscratch: maybe I could save a c note and get the 1070.
I guess I can hold out for the 1080.  :x
