I see this reversal with these planes performed by the better pilots.
I would really like to learn it but I don't see the important part of it.
I usually do and up and over on a merge. They merge level, or just a little climb. On the back end it looks to be a slice back with very little loss of speed.
Is it a drop in flaps with a hard rudder ? The Judge is able to reverse that D9 with very little loss of speed. Rud3boy does the same thing in a corsair. It is an excellent move and I just don't have a clue on how to accomplish it.
I have learned that you can knife fight in a Jug which was neat to learn. Had a stall fight with a Corsair. A second jumped in after a couple of minutes or I would have had a kill
But that reversal is what I really need to learn.
Give poop a clue.

If I'm thinking of what you be talkin bout;
Throttle off
Full Rudder
Throttle on
Shoot bad guy

Sounds to me like they are using a pitchback type of maneuver. It’s just speculation on my part as I’d need to see film of it to be sure.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basic_fighter_maneuvers
Scroll down to find the pitchback,but do yourself a favour and read the whole article and practice the maneuvers. Learn and understand the energy egg principle and how to position your lift vector for best effect.

I also get caught by this a lot. I’m not that great at it either lol.

Film it. Turn on trails, look at speeds.
