Following up on Creamo's suggestion...
All we gotta do is pick a time and a place. How's sometime this Sunday evening? What track do you prefer?
Who's all in?
I'll start:
Me.
:)
-
I'm lost....but it sounds really cool:)
-
Here's Creamo's post:
----------------------------------------------
You do Nascar 2003? We could get Krappy and SOB in.
2 weeks ago I did a 50% race at Daytona for the Pepsi 400, lets just say, I can goof on you, but my driving skills are ass.
edit- Funkypants, Kratzer or whoever I call Krappy is in a league, we could start something for AH players.
-----------------------------------------------
Sounds to me like getting a gang here to race in NASCAR 2003... which I think is a fine idea.
You interested rpm?
-
Wish I had the game :( I would be there.
-
IN, and Sundays are perfect.
I like Watkins, Richmond, Dega, anything really.
Wally World sells NCR2003 btw. It burns good, but you can't race without a S/N# I don't think.
We going fixed setups?
-
Cool.
I don't even know what fixed set-ups means.
You should just make the call for the 1st race Creamo. Fixed set-ups or not, which track... all that stuff. I'm sure it'll be fine with everyone, and we can change things around if we do it again. Make it soon so I can practise. :)
As far as when, let's say 9pm Eastern this Sunday unless anyone objects... in which case we'll try to come up with a workable alternative.
-
Well I believe the host can set the server so that you use a stock setup from the game, instead of users changing their setups or downloading one from the net so they are faster. Maybe that was just for TEN.
Basically it makes it an IROC race, best/luckiest driver wins, not because someone spent 200 hours perfecting their setup. Or actually, more power to them if they do, your choice. Any setup you wish.
Anywho, The Glen it is.
Ill ask Krappy what the best settings are for damage, length of race, etc...
Start turning laps...

You forgot about the 15+ lead changes that happen during all of those "lefts!". Especially at the Glen or Sonoma.

Just picked up Nascar 2003 this week.....I'm in!
Where's the server info?
-
Don't forget that there's also a league running that's made up of AH, WB, and WWIIOL folks. We have practice races Monday night and points races on Wednesday. Can get all the info here http://forums.speedgeezers.com/cgi-bin/iB311/ikonboard.cgi?;act=SC;c=9

Yep, the GROWL Nascar league is the sister league of the GROWL GPL league that I've been a member of for two years. I'm joining the GROWL Nascar league this week.
Here is the car that Head Hunter created for me to drive. The #69 Vaseline Chevy:

Notice the secondary sponser, Jiffy Lube. :D

haven't tweaked many
-
So I assume that Nascar 4 wont work to race with you guys, eh?
Is Nascar 2003 also put out by Sierra?
-
Sling...
No
Yes
:)
-
What is a good yet cost effective hardware setup for these racing games?
-
Hardware as far as controllers? Any racing wheel will work, but FF is definitely better. I'm using the M$ FF wheel and it's held up great for about 3 years now.

bah lead changes in roundy rounds? usually caused when guy behind punts guy infront +Q
just kidding, I am not saying there isn't at least some excitement in running roundy rounds, though I do get tired and my neck gets sore when I do more than just a few laps!
If there is a a NR2003 road racing group I'd join in there. (Soon as I find the game, surprised how rare it is in the stores...)
Now that Trans am mod +) +)

I'm not really into NASCAR but running the Glen or Infineon would be cool. I have a copy of the game which I will install. You guys should get GTR 2002. :)
-
Can anyone email me a setup for the Glen?
cwharton@intergate.ca
-
Nash, I've heard that newbies should just use the default "Fast" setup that comes supplied for each track. That's what I plan on using.
-
Players so far:
Creamo
Nash
banana
Wlfgng
Funked
The more the merrier... still room for more.
Creamo - are you going to host it? What server info do we need?
Are we gonna hook up to vox? RW?
-
im downloading the game, however the mIRC bot im getting it from is only transfering at 15kb/s so I might have it in time
-
I trust banana as he seems to have done it before. I'd rather not host, and if RW is still a good program, that sounds good to me. Unless someone volunteers and has a reliable host connection that is. We'll work something out Im sure.
Whoever hosts just make sure the user can select setups and the driving aides. Im still turning 1:18's which will keep me in back and out of trouble till everyone kills eachother off. Unless, my new super duper HOLESHOT (http://www.tqc39.com/holeshot.zip) works. This was my first run of the morning, Tony Stewart and got sh*t on me 1:18 or not.
edit- The Seirra Multiplayer has pretty good chat and setup functions btw. Run a few races there today is your not familiar with it.
-
You guys would be better off just joining GROWL or NTRL. Solid, fast servers and experienced people. GROWL has "Full-Realism" Points Races(Open Setups, best stay out of these events until you have some experience) on Wed. Nites, Open Practice/Qualifying Races(a good way to find out if you are competitive) on Monday Nites, and an IROC Event on Friday Nites(Fixed "Fast" Setups).
NTRL Races are on Thursday Nites and use Fixed "Fast" Setups.
GROWL NASCAR: http://forums.speedgeezers.com/cgi-bin/iB311/ikonboard.cgi just scroll-down and look for the GROWL NASCAR Forum.
NTRL: http://ntrl.newwavecreations.com/
Get your feet wet at the Sierra/Papyrus servers "Open" races. These are full of dweebs and idiots but useful to get used to online racing. Races with good drivers use a Rating System to screen-out dweebs and wreckers, so you are limited in your choices until you get some laps under your belt.
Cabby
-
Arggh, just remembered that I have a commitment tonight that I have to be at. I'm out for tonight.
I agree with Cabby, anyways. Best thing to do would be to join GROWL like I'm doing this week.
-
Its all about setup I guess no matter what track you go to, even though all the traks in Nascar are ovals. Im a monster truck sorta guy myself.
-
Its not about setup....
If you can't drive, no setup is going to help you. Setups just give people an excuse +)

Ah crap... Turns out I can't make it tonight either. I thought I could wiggle out of something but that aint gonna happen.
Whelp... If the rest of yas race tonight - good luck. If not, lets try and reschedule this a bit more in advance. Maybe aim for next Sunday or something.
-
so are we playing or what and who has the server info?
-
sigh..was looking but .. no banana...
I'm guessing since banana couldn't make it, it did not happen.
let us know Wank

I'd do Watkins on a Sunday. Its one of my favorite road courses. I suck at setups so look for me at the back of the pack, but at least I wouldn't face-plant into the run-off at the end of the long straight-away.

I think they saw my 'Holeshot' and watched a infomercial instead.
I did run a bunch of Chicagoland races and after watching the real race yesterday, I can't believe they run that fast, that close, for so long. The fiery crashes however were very believable. Great stuff. (and no I won't argue that stupid 'left, left, left' stuff. I don't care)
