Title: Im just not ready to move yet!
Post by: Morpheus on October 16, 2021, 12:55:34 AM
Its about time for me to go grab another Desktop and this will not be for games and games alone. I'm going to stay with HP because for the past 20 years they have served me with little to no problems and I'm not seeing any problems.
The title of my post says how I feel about moving to windows 11! I just don't see any need to swap out windows 10 for any reason so i will most likely keep my new PC with windows 10. They biggest game for this new box is going to be limited to  AH. I will keep my memory at 8GB and https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-pavilion-desktop-tp01-2225xt-bundle-pc?jumpid=ma_weekly-deals_product-tile_desktops_7_20w68aa_hp-pavilion-desktop- (https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-pavilion-desktop-tp01-2225xt-bundle-pc?jumpid=ma_weekly-deals_product-tile_desktops_7_20w68aa_hp-pavilion-desktop-)

So please tell me what you guys think about this new box that Im going to be grabbing.

Thanks!

This one has Win10 and a graphics card. It might be a better choice.

For a store-bought brand or the on line way, HP is really the best brand right?

While integrated graphics are much better these days I would still stay away from them.

Id spend my money on one from Digital storm (https://www.digitalstorm.com/)

Agreed. Integrated graphics are for pretty much office-type stuff, definitely not for 3D gaming. As for as-builts, a YT channel, Gamers Nexus has been doing reviews of various brand's builds recently. Check out their channel. Good info.

And they did one just a few days ago on an HP a few step up from the one you're looking at that isn't too promising.

Hi Morpheus,

The PC you linked does not come with a video card, and does not have an Intel processor.

Well this one has an Intel processor but still does not have a separate video card.   I doubt this machine could run AH at acceptable frame rates, although it may do very well at the other tasks you have in mind for it.

This is the only bad part.....

Graphics      Integrated: Intel® UHD Graphics 730

Intergrated means it doesnt have a graphics card and is NOT really made for gaming. If you think you might want to try VR, this will never work.

That machine only has a 310W power supply; I doubt it can handle providing the power for the kind of video card you need to run AH and other 3D games.  I'd recommend at least a GTX 1660-class video card, or an AMD RX 6600, which would need a machine with a power supply of 500-550W.

As Eagler says, its not a good time to buy a video card.   BestBuy sells HP machines, and either of these should be able to give you 60fps in AH at 1080p resolution (1920x1080):

Yeah and is there a way that I can "cusomize" or build up an existing machine from HP?

I feel stupid to forget to include the fact that I am no longer in need of a high powered video card that can run AH and give me very good FR. I just do not have the urge or even feel like playing AH anymore. I'm not saying that I quit AH because that'll never happen I'm just saying that  I just don't need a very high power video card because the greatest draw on my video card will be any sort of video editing or creating.

Even this can be a big draw on your computer depending on the type of video and creating you do. The bigger the renders, the bigger the work load on your computer.

Buy the best you can afford in memory, CPU and GPU to help you out over the long run. A cheap computer is great for surfing, word processing and those  games Facebook pushes, but if your doing some extensive work, your going to need a computer that can push it.

With all the shipping and inventory issues on most computer parts (just about most things)  these days, it is probably one of the most expensive times to try to buy or build a decent computer

Last I checked..... a few months ago.... building my computer would be almost 6K. Twice what it originally cost. I hate to think what it may be today. Totally ridiculous.

I am still driving my 2005 crew cab 2500HD for the same reason. Was in the market for a 3500HD but when I found one I liked.... no deals being made. Full price. Never paid MSRP on a vehicle in my life. Not starting now.

you can get a decent computer for 1500 to 2k. cars on the other hand, I sold a car after having it for a year for 1k above what I paid for it including interest.
