Title: RangerSounds v1.2 Soundpack
Post by: USRanger on August 03, 2006, 10:23:51 PM
Here's a soundpack I made.  The plane engines are a mix of Waffle's, Fruda's & my own.  I redid all the GV sounds (LTARS!), explosions, weapons, & sound effects.  Feel free to use it or mix it w/ any other soundpack. Enjoy!!:aok

How come? I tested them out on my squad (the BoPs) for a few days & they love em.  Use em, use some of em, or none,it's up to you.  This was just something fun do do for everyone.  I guess it's just a matter of taste.  I prefer to have meatier gun sounds & better special effect sounds.  If ya like your .30 cals to sound like pellet guns, I guess this wouldn't be the one for you.  All I ask is people to try em out, that's all. <>

i saw em an heard em, i probably sounded kinda harsh, i appologize. anyway it was that there were very few changes. i only noticed maybe a handfull (5-10) of sounds wich were different.

.......but then again i made my sounds consisting of "mitsus", "frudas", "waffles", an "sketchwork" sound packs.

also do ya know how i could post what i have for sounds? thanks

Bagrat, thank you for checking it out and for your opinion. ! For the record, there's 52 new sounds, not 5-10.  GVers would notice the most difference probably.  While I totally respect your opinion, I feel I must post a couple direct quotes from another forum so people don't get scared off by just 1 opinion.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Excellent, excellent, excellent!  The default sounds were okay.  Waffle's sounds were really good, but the cleanup and new sounds you have added, especially in the GVs, makes AH even better -- I find myself upping planes I usually don't fly "just to see if Ranger changed anything".  Although I did have to dispose of one of the Check 6 sounds... "

THANKS!
Whalen
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Great sound pack.  I really enjoy the different sounds I get to hear while I cruisin' in a GV or fighter.  Thanks." -Phenom
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I tried them and they rock, excellent job...really love the tank rounds incoming."-JollyFE

Like I said, I just don't want everyone getting run off by just one opinion. Everyone has their own taste & opinion, I respect that.  Big to those who will give it a chance.

Any tank towners try this out yet?  Makes a HUGE difference.  I made sure to give each GV specific sounds so they are identifiable before even seeing the GV.  The different tank gun sounds are what people seem to be liking the most.

thanks for the soundpack. nice of you to share your time and effort

mabe i'm doing something wrong. i was interested in using the sounds just for the individual GVs, but don't see them in the unzipped file

when i unzipped the sounds.zip file i got from your link there where a bunch of folders for individual planes, and the general sounds(ie check six, explode, debris, wake etc) but no folders for specific gvs.
what are the names of the wav files for the individual gvs?

thanks for any help

psob2, the sounds in the pack should look the same as any other soundpack, gvs included.  I've just downloaded it off my link to test it.  Everything was fine.  Plz download it one more time & see if they are there. Hopefully it was some sort of glitch.  The GV sounds are the pride of my pack & I want to make sure ya get em!

Mmm kay. I just re-sent the pack to my host.  I watched for an hour to make sure each & every sound made it.  Somehow my original upload to my host got corrupted & only half the pack made it.  All this weekend, people have been downloading half a pack. EEK!  Truly embarrassing & I apologize to everyone.  It will be fixed tommorow, promise.   to all those willing to give me another chance, you will be rewarded with the loudest, meanest soundpack out there.:aok

I just downloaded and am checking them out. So far, pretty good.

I noticed there are folders for most of the GVs, but not all. Is there supposed to be a folder/sound for the Jeep?

Title: RangerSounds v1.2 Soundpack
Post by: MOSQ on August 08, 2006, 05:33:36 PM
I used it last night. Here's my feedback;

I LOVE the distant thumping sounds of tank fired shells hitting the ground and the flak. Very realistic sounding. The flak and artillery make this sound pack right there.

I also like the engine sounds on GVs and planes, much better than the default stock sounds or even my old waffle/mitsu sound packs. And the pintle gun on a Tiger has real power now!

I don't like the check 6. Nor the plane damage sounds when your plane is hit. They are so weak I don't realize I'm even taking hits half the time.

Is there a way to change the plane damage sounds back to my old ones without going through every plane's file folder to change them?
Title: RangerSounds v1.2 Soundpack
Post by: USRanger on August 08, 2006, 05:42:00 PM
Yes, there is if you still are using this soundpack.  Just change the damage_1 sound to any one you want, like the old default or whatever ya want.  There are 3 check6's to choose from. Just make sure the one you use is the only one called check6.  Again, you can sub it out w/ any check6 you want.  Thank you for the feedback.  It is most appreciated.  I agree the GV sounds are what makes this pack different from the rest.  Just wait til Tank Town comes back around, then you'll really enjoy it!

Well, after over a week (and 2 PMs) of waiting for a reply from Skuzzy about getting a sticky for my soundpack, I have received no answer at all.  Not a no, kiss my butt, or anything.  Too bad.  People really like it, but's doomed to disappear as new threads are added to the forum.  That's some great customer service there.  I guess the hundreds of dollars in monthly dues I've paid wasn't enough to get a little helping out.  Guess you gotta be in the "inner circle" if ya want for them to give ya a helping hand.  Oh well, don't need em anyway.  I'm gettin' the word out myself w/ the help of people that have downloaded it.  I'm just very disappointed I wasn't even worth the time for a "No".  Great customer service indeed.  Maybe if I changed my name to Waffle2?

Between Mitsu, Waffle, Rangers and Sketch's pack (my own), you canmake a pretty good sound pack.  It is a pick and choose of what you want.  I like having distinct sounds for GV's because you can't see the other gv's over hills and such and can tell by the blast of the gun or the tracks.  Just a tip is all.  It is fun having a big selection of sounds, just like gunsights.

Schatzi, I should send you my gunsight pack.  I have a pretty large collection of them and it could be like a bundle pack for these guys.

I've tried downloading this, and it came up with two errors. One was unepected end of archive, I'm wondering if that means the download wasn't completed all the way. The other was when I tried tried to extract them to the sounds folder of Aces High 2, it said they were still in unrecognizable format. Anybody know anything about this? I'm downloading it again, I hope this will solve the problem.
Title: RangerSounds v1.2 Soundpack

Make sure you rename your old Sounds folder to Sounds1 or Oldsounds, or something. Then, copy and paste your new, extracted Sounds folder into your AHII folder.  In other words, don't place your new Sounds folder into your old one, you have to replace it.  Any probs. just hollar.
Title: RangerSounds v1.2 Soundpack
Post by: McFarland on June 20, 2007, 12:36:12 AM
Well, it isn't so much that, as I've done that already. It's that every time I try to extract the files, it says unexpected end of archive and won't extract them. And when I go into the folder itself, (using WinRAR, the only way I can get in it), and try to try out each sound, it says the file format is unrecognized or damaged. The first time I downloaded it, I was able to download 13 MB, and the second time, I got 108 or so MB, which took me about 12 hours. How many MBs are supposed to be in this file, is it ending the download too soon or something?
Title: RangerSounds v1.2 Soundpack
Post by: USRanger on June 20, 2007, 05:34:36 AM
Extracted, it should be around 163 Mb.  If you are using XP, right-click on the zipped folder and select Extract All.  I believe one other person had trouble when using Winrar.  Using the Extract All method fixed it for him.  Try that.
Title: RangerSounds v1.2 Soundpack
Post by: McFarland on June 20, 2007, 11:05:44 PM
I don't think it's downloading all the files, mine is only 153000kb, or aboot 153MB... is it possible it is taking so long to download it the hosting server is cutting me off?
Title: RangerSounds v1.2 Soundpack
Post by: McFarland on June 20, 2007, 11:09:43 PM
Oh, and using the right click-extract all method, it says there are no files to extract.

The explosions that are in the soundpack are all custom.  When I release an update very soon(spending this weekend on it), there will be a variety of explosion, check6 & base warning sounds to customize it how you want.

Wish I knew what to tell you McFarland.  I've redownloaded it twice in the last two days and it worked just fine for me.  The difference is that I have cable internet, so it only takes me a few minutes to download.  This is the first I've heard of someone w/ dial-up having any problems, though. Try turning off your firewall temporarily and downloading it.

Thanks for the advice, it may work. I've never had problems with me firewall, but then, I've never looked for them. I will try this, and I'm glad you took your time to create this, even if I never get it, it has made many others happy. You are a good person to take your own time to do such a thing.

Yes, got it! [exhausted]Finally![/exhausted] I finally got it to download correctly by turning off me firewall, and I must say, it was worth it. These sounds are great Ranger. Thanks for taking to the time to put this together.

No. I think I mean explosion effects, so we can have bigger BOOMS to go with the bigger BANGs or BOOF...Cling clang...BOOFs.

Has this come out yet? Because in my download, it didn't have the jeep or the 109K-4, or F4U-1A. I was wondering if maybe me download went wrong again, or if it just hasn't come out yet. Thanks for the original, though.

No McFarland, it's not out yet.  Finishing up on a few things.  Look for it in a week or two.  I'll be posting the new full download and a separate expansion pack for those that already have current soundpack.

Ok, I wanted to make sure. Thanks for the reply. This is the best soundpack I've ever heard. The guns actually sound real, and I can actually tell the difference between the vehichles. Great work!

Being a Noob, it takes me awhile to find all the gems. Sir, you have added a whole new dimension to the world's greatest game. Thank you. .

BTW, did you know that your sounds actually make the planes fly faster and smoother? ( I swear it...)

Call on me anytime if you need any help with the gruntwork. I have sound equipment and software to record, modify, and add effects to sound files. (Electronics engineer and graduate musician)

Once again, thank you. AWESOME p-51!!!

chase4, I believe there are 3 check6s in the current version.  Just pick or add  one you want and make sure it's the only one named check6.  I'm adding a few more with the newer version that's in field testing atm.  Personally, I'm keeping that check6.  I just love it.:D

One question. I'm not sure which F4U's (or if all F4U's) used the cartridge 'shotgun' ignition system. If anyone knows, it would help me apply the appropriate sounds.

Post by: TalonTSG on November 11, 2007, 11:57:00 PM
Ok, I deleted the "cleanup" text file, and unzipped sounds into HTC sound folder, but everytime I run AH, it creates a new "cleanup" file and I do not hear any difference with any vehicle.

I tested some of the sounds and they sound great.

I don't know if it makes a difference, but they all have "realplayer" symbol?

Thanks,

Talon TSG

Post by: USRanger on November 12, 2007, 03:10:11 PM
Talon, you don't place your new, unzipped Sounds folder inside your old Sounds folder, you replace it.

Open up your AH2 folder.  Rename your old Sounds folder to Sounds1 or OldSounds for safe keeping, or delete it completely.  Now, paste your new Sounds folder into your AH2 folder.  That's all there is to it.  No need to delete any cleanup file or anything.  Just replace your old Sounds folder with the new one, NOT inside it.  Any more questions, just post.

I'm trying to get this soundpack going for me.  I downloaded the pack to my desktop and extracted it.  Renamed the sounds folder in htc to oldsounds.  Then I copied the unzipped sounds folder from rangers pack to the htc folder then deleted my cache.  I still hear all the old sounds.  Can anyone help me or tell me what I have done wrong so far?  I get the cache rebuilding when I re enter, but I never see sounds listed in any of the files.

Post by: USRanger on December 18, 2007, 03:13:09 PM
Hmm, try it without deleting your cache.  If you did exactly what you posted here, it should be working fine.  That is the correct procedure for installing a sound pack.  Try again, let me know & we'll go from there.  We'll get er working.
Title: RangerSounds v1.2 Soundpack
Post by: Rondar on December 18, 2007, 05:53:44 PM
USRanger, I did get it working.  Im not exactly sure how I did it either lol.  I did find a sounds folder  in htc, then towards the bottom there was another sounds thingiemabob.  I did rename that and it got quiet and no sound at all so i figured that had something to do with the sounds.  I ended figuring out, I believe I transferred an empty folder somehow that I thought had the unzipped files to the htc folder.  After doing it a few times I got it going.

Now, dagnabbit, I have to learn what everything sounds like, as for years and years I used stock sound:D

Thanks and I am glad that you took your time to answer all the questions in this thread and also the time it took to develop and package the sounds in the first place

Ron

Just rename the old sound folder and store that old AH sound folder in my documents or some where else. Never put it on your desktop or AH will not load up & start correctly. Other wise you will get a error problem and close down. Moving the old AH sound folder will also separate the link to the sounds in the  AH folder. This way the old sound folder will not be used. And U.S. Rangers sound folder will be the only sound folder available to be recognized and link too in the AH folder.

Great job on the new sounds U.S. Ranger allot of the 79th Fighter Group members like. - GGhost :aok

The soundpack is excellent... except for one thing can someone tell me what file is causing that music to play every few minutes? It's driving me nutz and I want to change it.  I've tried most of the wav files that look like they might be it by the file name, but no luck :(

The link in my signature is to the newest version also.  Page 4 of this thread is where you'd find the same link and details from the last update.  I should have the P-39 sounds ready soon after it's release, but will probably be a separate download.

I was looking at all the explosion sounds I've collected and/or made over the years and I think I might put out an Explosion Pack as well for people to have & use.  Probably somewhere around 30-40 explosion sounds.

Well I'm in the same boat as Rondar I believe. I cannot get the sounds to work at all. The sound folder in AH has your sounds in it but so long as that RES sounds file is there, they will not work. If I rename and or relocate that RES file then I have no sounds at all. Talk about frustating.

BTW. Great sounds
Title: Re: RangerSounds v1.2 Soundpack
Post by: USRanger on March 16, 2008, 09:44:47 PM
Leave Sounds.res in your AHII folder.

1-Did you remember to unzip the soundpack first?  This has happened twice that I know of, so I must ask.
2-Are you replacing your old Sounds folder with the new one, or placing it inside your old one?  You should be   replacing it.  This is the most common booboo.  Just delete the old Sounds folder and paste the the one inside your AHII folder.  That's all there is to it.  Check it out & let me know.

Post by: j500ss on March 18, 2008, 04:11:08 PM
Ranger, I Redownloaded the sound pack, extracted it, then pasted it in AH. It worked this time  :aok. Only thing I did differently, was before I did not delete the old file, I renamed it and sent it to the recycle bin. The other thing was I let windows move the sounds file for me, rather than cutting and pasting.
WOW what great sounds  :rock

Myself and I believe all the other soundpack makers have left the drop tank sound as default because, well, that's what it is supposed to sound like.  Not quite sure what more you want to hear from it.  Just like with any other soundpack, change whatever sounds you want.  Mix & match to your personal preferences.

Post by: USRanger on April 06, 2008, 10:45:22 PM
I posted this in another thread, but figured I'd stick it in here too so it doesn't get lost.  It seems to be one of my most common PMs, so here is how to install a soundpack:

In the first pic, I have just downloaded a zipped soundpack to my Desktop:

(http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/1872/s1vx5.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

I now unzip it, giving me the actual soundpack folder, called Sounds.

(http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/9065/s2sq9.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

I now go into My Computer->C:->Program Files->HTC->Aces High II folder and see all the folders/files that go to the game.  I locate my original Sounds folder and delete it.  Then, I copy the new, unzipped Sounds folder that's sitting on my Desktop(the soundpack) and paste it into my AHII folder that I just deleted my old Sounds folder from.

(http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/9091/s3po8.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

If I installed my soundpack correctly, when I open my new Sounds folder up to look at it, I would see this.  The original Sounds folder we already deleted is empty by default.  If we were just adding a couple new sounds to the default ones, we would just drop them into our original Sounds folder, but since we are adding an entire soundpack, we are replacing the entire Sounds folder.

(http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/1438/s4js4.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

ok thx, now everytime i delete the old sounds folder it just re appears after every time i play ah

DPQ5, If you have NOT placed a NEW sounds folder in Aces High II folder, when game loads the cache creates the default sounds folder each time.

A question for you Ranger, I have sent (3) requests to support@hitechcreations.com asking them to STICKY TicTok Sound Images 2.0. Is there a NEW procedure for getting this done with the NEW Bulletin Board?

I noticed that all the planes with the P&W engines the WEP on my PC don't work, all other planes the WEP worked fine. Any idea what might cause this?

I really don't have an answer for ya since it works fine for everyone else.  Try recalibrating your stick & throttle in-game to make sure your throttle is reaching it's peak for WEP to be engaged.

USRanger.... you are the second coming of Christ (at least for AH2 sound packs)  :D .  You have made the sounds in AH2 what they should have been from the start.  Very splendid job!  Tally Ho, 'ol Boy!     :rock

Thank you for all your work.  <S>     :salute

Will you petition HTC and see if they will hire you as a full time employee?  If you can do what you did with sounds, perhaps you can help some of their ill fated (or hurried, rather) attempts at graphics.  You cant do them any harm, thats for sure.  One can hope, eh?    :pray

Thanks again!!!      :aok

I have been using the current version of RangerSounds without any evident problems.  However, as of yesterday, 9/4/2008, I encountered a problem when firing tank (panzer and M4) guns.  The problem is that I would lose the sound of the gun firing and the explosion on hits - but I could see the tracer round and bldgs being hit and destroyed.  The sounds would return and then stop intermittently.  Do you have any ideas as what could have cause this?  Should I delete and reinstall the sounds?
Title: Re: RangerSounds v1.2 Soundpack
Post by: USRanger on September 06, 2008, 12:20:09 PM
Hmm.  I've never heard of, or experienced that one.  Nothing has changed with the sound files or the game, so I'm guessing maybe it was due to some lag or something trivial.  If there was a problem with the sound, everyone would have been having this problem since the pack came out.  Test it out again the next time you play and see if it happens again & let me know.  I don't think re-downloading the pack will make any difference because it will be the same sound files.  Since the problem spontaneously appeared and it's not just one sound you had problems with,  I'm guessing it's a fluke or lag.  If those sounds were bad, they wouldn't work at all.  Try it again and we'll go from there.  Another thing you can do, if you are using XP, turn down your Sounds Hardware Acceleration down from 100% to 75% (recommended when using a soundpack).  I'm fairly sure it was a one time glitch, so give her a test & report back.  <S>

Actually it's pretty darned close to the real thing!  The Tiger I made an appearance at the Indianapolis Air Show and it was a fully functional vehicle and  was displayed in movement.  It even had an unscheduled wreck with another vehicle.  It's really amazing just how small and low profile the Tiger is but that 88mm gun is just a frigging monster.

If the Check6 sound you are referring to is that creepy music, then you are using version 1.  If so, download version 2.1 from my sig.  2.1 contains plane/GV sounds that weren't out yet when my version 1 was released.  Version 2.1 contains a variety of choices for certain sounds, such as check6.  The SDk, Wirbel, P39 pack is a separate expansion pack also located in my sig.  The only sounds not up to date are for the new T-34/85.  I'm waiting on the next plane vehicle release so I can combine them into another small expansion pack.  :salute

Does anyone know the order that guns fire? Example, are primary guns always 1,2 and secondary 3,4 (Example)? Does it matter or does the game simply play the first sound for the caliber of weapon firing? I have been trying to figure out which ones are what, especially with larger gun diversities like the Fw 190 A-8?  Also, I thought I remembered a list somewhere that told you what each sound is for, or am I mistaken?  Thanks.  :salute

Ranger, I downloaded your soundpack today.  What a difference!  Its like going from black-and-white TV to color!

I have a few questions.  Some of your sounds have multiple choices to pick from (for example, "check 6" has seven).  If I want to use one of the sounds other than the one that plays, how do I select one of the other choices?

If I find I prefer one of the game default sounds to your sound, how do I deselect your sound and replace it with the default sound (I kept the "Old sounds" file in My Documents, out of the game; didn't delete it)?

If I find I prefer a sound in one of the other soundpacks--I just downloaded Waffle's soundpack--how do I select that sound to take priority over yours?

Keep up the excellent work.  I'll be watching for updates.

rename the original check six to check6g then the check six you want, just rename plain old check6

If I find I prefer one of the game default sounds to your sound, how do I deselect your sound and replace it with the default sound (I kept the "Old sounds" file in My Documents, out of the game; didn't delete it)?

good move on not deleting it. take the sounds you want out of the old file and replace them with the ones you want to replace them with... but before you do that rename the files you are replacing to something else and put in your old file folder..

If I find I prefer a sound in one of the other soundpacks--I just downloaded Waffle's soundpack--how do I select that sound to take priority over yours?

see above...

To go back to a default sound, simply rename or delete the one from the soundpack.  If you want to keep the sound for future use, rename it.  Ex. 20mmX instead of 20mm.  The names for the sounds are the same in all the soundpacks, so you can mix & match to your hearts content.  Quite a few players do that.  It's all a matter of personal taste.

Haven't worked on this in awhile (though it's still current).  I'm waiting to see what we get with the new AH update.  In the meantime, I think I'm gonna make some "expansion packs" full of things like various explosions, check6s, music & such to people can customize their sounds to fit their taste even more.  I'll probably have the explosion pack done in a few days or so.  So, if interested, keep an eye out.

I was wanting my mustang 50 cals to sound a lil better. I looked for the file name 50 cals and could not find it.
I know how to substitute sounds for other ones. Just cant seem to find the 50 call sound in the pak..
Please tell me how to find it, and if so what would be a good sub for the 50.
Ps. We all know the 50's dont hit as hard but at least i could make them sound like they do,lol.. Thanks Tuk151 CO 13MPG.. :salute

TUK,  I updated the .50 cal sounds awhile back.  Not sure if you have these or the previous, but here it is.  The .50 cal sound is called M2.  If you have the older ones, download these M2 files and paste them in your Sounds folder.  Go through your plane sound folders and if there are old M2 files in them, delete them.  They don't need to be in the individual sound folders unless you want a "special" gun sound for that specific plane.  Try it out and see what you think.  This will be another expansion pack I'm gonna do, different mg sounds for people to play around with to suit their tastes, but this is the .50 sound I use right now.

Hey there Ranger, <S> Bro.

Well finally got around to downloading your sound package, and  :aok WTG! Bro.  Probably going to have the rest of the squad do the same.

I like where you have given choice to different sound versions of a varity of sounds, ie. different check 6's, 30 cals, etc.  Tried reading through this thread to find answers, but by the time I got to page 7.....he he....said to hell with that (lol).

When I come across a sound that I want to default to, ie.  choosing which "Check 6" call I want to use....how do I make it default (or how do I choose it?).  My level of language please........me be no computer smart  :D

Anyways, well done Bro...... :rock

Make sure the check6 sound you want is named check6.  If you want to keep other check6s in the folder for future use, just make sure they are not named check6.  Name them anything else, like check6x, check62, etc.  The game only looks for the sound named check6.  Be on the look out for more sound choice mini-packs coming soon.  I hoped to have the explosion pack out already, but some offline mission projects have held it up briefly.

The music is the warning.wav sound.  Delete it or rename it for safe keeping.  This will take ya back to the default sound.  If the hit sound is too weak for your taste either do the same as you did with the warning sound and go back to default, or try another soundpack and find one you like better.  Lots of people mix & match to their personal taste.  :salute

Ranger how do I intall the sounds in vista... can't find old sounds file....

The default installation path for Aces High II is "C:\Program Files\HTC\Aces High II". Vista users are encouraged to change this default location to another path outside the "Program Files" folder in Vista.

This is due to the "User Access Control" service in Vista, which will have adverse effects on many aspects of Aces High II. The game auto-updater will not run, all the user folders are placed in a hidden path making it difficult to retrieve films, screenshots, squad art and so on.

For example, a good path might be "C:\Games\Aces High II". This would allow you a good place to install all your games.

If you chose to allow the game to be installed in its default folder, then you will have to use the "Run as administrator" option in order for the game to be able to update itself. This will not correct the other problems with folders not being placed where we intended them to be placed.

Download AHII for VISTA here:  http://downloads1.hitechcreations.com/AH2131.EXE

And to answer your original question...

This is the hidden location that Vista chooses to put your important AHII Files.  I suggest following the steps in the previous post.

C:\Users\Your Name HERE\AppData\Local\Virtual Store\Program Files\HTC

WooHoo Ranger!
I haven't updated this for almost four years :D
I'm starting to get sound related BSOD's with the new version so I thought I'd better get a new one.
Cheers!

Yeah, it's gonna be a beast, but the player can trim it down after downloading by getting rid of options they don't want that I will be including in RS3.

Still working on RS3.  Been trying to fit it in between real life, planning for the upcoming scenario, updating terrains & offline missions, etc.  I have a special treat to release to the community on Halloween, so that must be done first, then this will be my main project.  I just can't seem to stop playing the game long enough to work on stuff. :D

Finished testing & tweaking all new gun sounds tonight.  Also have been streamlining the pack by removing unneeded sounds from some of the individual plane folders, making for a smaller download/more room to add goodies. :)

Lil' bit longer.  I'm very happy with the new weapon sounds, but there are a few aircraft I want to redo & if the file size is small enough, I'm gonna throw in some optional goodies.  If the size is too large for comfort, I'll release the goodies as separate mini-packs (explosions,check6s, base warnings, etc.) :salute

Negative, 2.1 is:

http://www.bops.us/ranger/sounds.zip

And the P-39/Wirbel/SDk251 expansion pack:

http://www.bops.us/ranger/P39WirbSDKsounds.zip

RS3 will have these included, plus the P-47M, T34/85, I-16 & Brewster.  Plus some surprises I'm working on.  I've gotten in the groove with it lately & am excited to finish & release it soon.

Thank ya Dee. :salute  When I finish the newest version of the pack, I'm going to include an add-on pack of different warning sounds & check6s so users can fine-tune it to their individual tastes.  If you put a warning.wav or (any other sound) in your individual sound folders, it overrides the global sounds, which are the individual sounds you find in the pack that are not in a folder.  I myself have 3 or 4 different warning sounds I use. depending on which a/c I'm in.  Kind of a mini-soundtrack to the game.

Been hard at work on version 3 this weekend.  Got the new 109, P-51 & P-38s all finished up.  To those not aware, they added over 40 new sounds for the WW! planes, so that adds to the project big time, but I got a few of those knocked out tonight also.  Looking forward to this installment, but man, I forgot how much work goes into basically redoing the entire package :lol... :cry

Worked some on the WW1 sounds this weekend.  Takes a bit because your have to make your sounds for an a/c or GV, then test, go back & adjust, retest, etc.  Then repeat for each one.  This is still one of my priority projects, so it will continue to be worked on until finished.  Thanks for the interest.  I'll keep posting updates until finished.  Maybe I should put out single plane sample pack for peeps to try out. :salute

A few more weeks.  I'm in the middle of this, new AvA terrains & a few other projects right now, plus working 60 hours a week & a single father of 3 girls, so free time is, well, ya know.  Here's where I'm at.  I have all the sounds.  I still need to attach them to the correct planes, test each one for pitch, volume, duration, RoF, etc.  Takes some time.  The upcoming holiday weekend should help (one extra night to stay up all night).

Here is a sample pack for anyone interested.  I'll release the P-51D.  If you use custom sounds, rename your current P51D sounds folder to something else for safe keeping, like P51Dx or whatever.  Then unzip & drop this new P51D folder into your sounds folder & try em out.  If you use default sounds, just unzip & drop this P51D folder into your sounds folder.

Probably because the Brewster, B-25 & K-4 are not in the soundpack, as they were introduced after the soundpack came out.  Those would be what we like to call default sounds. ;)

Is your Sounds folder inside your AHII folder?

Also, open up that new unipped sounds folder.  Do you see a bunch of .wavs?  Or do you see a second Sounds folder inside the first one (been too long, I can't remember)?  If there is a seconds Sounds folder inside the first unzipped one, that is the one you want to place inside your AHII folder (the one containing all the .wavs).

Yes, I put it in my AH2 folder and when I click on the sounds I can hear them through winamp. so i know that they are the right ones. It's just when I play the game they haven't transfer over.

I tried the pack, I liked certain parts of it.  I did not like:

-The stall buzzer.  Mostly because I was used to the default one and I found myself stalling a whole lot more often because the sound cue had changed.
-The flaps I was mixed about.  I liked how they sounded more hydraulic and less 'abrasive' but I found that I couldn't hear the sound over the engine and people talking on TS all too often.
-The LMGs.  The sound was cool but they sounded like cannon shots to me and the .303s on the Spit sounded beefier than the .50 cals on my Corsair which just seemed so wrong to me.

It's good work though for sure.  I ended up reverting back to the standard sounds for the time being.  I plan on using some of those gun sounds though when I have time to go back and cherry pick the ones I like.

i agree with hatrick that the .50s dont sound right. the sound itself sounds right, but it should be a much lower and sharper pitch

I use Sony Vegas 8.  Works great for both sounds & videos.  New pack is 80% finished.  Still got some planes I'm still not happy with and am still working on, plus trying out different weopon sounds to figure out which I like best & want to put in. :salute

I use Sony Sound Forge 10 Try it Ranger pm me for info

First unzip it and you will have a folder called Sounds (the soundpack).  Now, open your AHII folder.  Inside you will see a folder named Sounds, which is empty by default.  Delete your default empty Sounds folder & then paste your new Sounds folder (the soundpack) in its place.  That's it.  All set.

That's because some of the same planes are still giving me a hard time with giving me what I'm satisfied with, plus I keep trying different weapon sounds (I bet I have 20 different sounds just for the .50 cals).  It's coming guys.  All that's left are a few of the big buffs, Hurris, couple JPN planes & the more exotics (262, 163).  Got the sounds, just gotta figure out which ones sound best in-game.

Please try to remember that there are hundreds of sounds in a pack and each one must be converted & tested in & out of game for the right results.

Thats easy mate, stick a folder in your root (like you would images for online etc), shove the files in there, create a page with links to the files, upload, shove link to page on here. Gimme a shout if you need any help bud.

Or, if your isp allows ftp servers, you could add an anonymous user, constrain the ability to put files, and just leave get active. Or, you could open a 4shared account, upload them on there for download (saves on any bandwidth issues for your site etc)

A couple notes.  When making these I had all individual sound sliders set at 80%, so players will need to adjust these to personal taste.

Also, in the near future I'm gonna put out four expansion packs that contain:
Pack 1-WW1 sounds
Pack 2-Flaps & gear sounds
Pack 3-Check6's & base warnings
Pack 4-Explosions & effects

This will enable players to customize their sounds to their hearts' content.

Download the zipped folder to desktop.  Unzip it.  You will have a folder now called RangerSounds Platinum.  Open it.  Inside there is a folder called Sounds.  That is the soundpack that you will be transferring .  Open your AHII folder.  You will see a folder named Sounds.  If it is the default Sounds it will be empty.  Delete it.  If it is an existing soundpack rename it something other than Sounds for safe keeping in case you want to go back to it. Example SoundsX.  AH only looks for the folder named Sounds.  Now take the new Sounds folder on your desktop and drag & drop it into your AHII folder.  All done.  All you are doing is replacing the new Sounds folder for the old one.

i love the sounds but it seems that ive become so accustomed to Mitzu's old pack that i cant seem to get a hold of yours... :( although the GV sounds and filler gaps for the newer planes work perfect for what i need :)

trying to find a way to hook up the cleared for takeoff sounds and the gear sounds with mitzus pack to mix em... having trouble with that one. :headscratch: probably much more simple than i expect. :lol

Sounds awesome Ranger. :D

Only thing I'd say is a bit (not annoying per say but...something) is the "cleared for take-off"s and GV start-up talking.  First time I've had anything but stock sounds for anything WWI-related (been lazy), the guns sound great, as do the few WWII sounds I've heard in the little I played today. :salute

If anyone doesn't like the startup voice(s) from the tower, simply delete the engstart.wav file from the plane folders, or get new one from another pack & replace them.  I knew before making them that it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea, but I learned long ago you can't ever make everyone happy.  I wanted to do something unique soundpack-wise, so I went for it.  At least this is something a player can change on his end without too much effort. :salute

Yeah engine start was a little annoying ... rather than erase I just turned it down some ingame. Other sounds that I wasn't liking too much such as wind were replaced from my saved sound folder. Believe me, though, replaced sounds were maybe only a half dozen ... so far the others are damn good. :x

The only time it doesn't make much sense though is when you get clearance to take off and your already at 20k floating in a 163.

RangerSounds Platinum Patch 1

http://myfreefilehosting.com/f/59251d2b00_0.27MB (http://myfreefilehosting.com/f/59251d2b00_0.27MB)

Fixes:
-New Spitfire engine sound (current one has a weird, short squeak in it).  Apply to all Spits/Seafire except Spit14.
-New Wirb/Osti Engine sound (current one has a "pop" in it that drives me crazy. Apply to Wirbel & Ostwind.
-New-P47 engine off sound (was told current one was weak, so this is a beefier one). Apply to all P-47s.

Simply download, unzip and copy & paste these sounds into the correct folders, overwriting the current ones.

I have your soundpack and think its awesome along with all the guys who did work on theirs also.... But I have one question.. Why when you are in 8 inch guns or shore battery there is a lag on the reloading sound? Just one thing that I was wondering, but albeit for that, all the sounds are awesome.

Question about the Betty; Are you going to wait until she is out before you make a sound file for her, or do you have a sound file for her already?

Awesome sounds by the way, I love how the Panzer's gun sounds.  When I took a Panzer out after putting in the sound pack, yeah, I spent the next 3-4 hrs or so in one.  Started lobbing shells into a town from a good distance.  Was having such a blast with it's gun sound, must have ran out HE rounds 6 or more times because I wasn't paying attention to how many I had left. :x

The only downside I've seen so far is, if I'm in a Panzer, all other tank guns will sound like a Panzer's.  I don't know if you can do anything about that on your end though.  Found it funny that a T-34's gun sounds like a Panzer's when in my Panzer.

*shrug* I like them.. in fact I like them so much I've converted some to m4r format and slapped them on my iphone.  Hope you don't mind.  I love the looks I get when my phone starts spouting German or Japanese and the engine starts or when the B17 or P38 file goes 'you are cleared for liftoff' and you hear those engines firing up.  Heh.. even the explosion sound is cool when I don't get to a call right away..

Ranger, great soundpack. It's all been said already so I guess all I can do is give you a  :aok, because you already know it's awesome. The Pony sounds like a demon while diving!

Unfortunately I haven't been able to download Patch 1, when I "Click here to Download" after the link it leads to an expired page. If you (or anyone else who has it) could upload it again that'd be great.

Thanks for the reply, sir.  :salute

You know Ranja......You make me a better pilot.....I had to reinstall windows and my game, so for variety sake I went with another sound pack instead of this one,  :furious   WOW I couldn't really fight it was so messed up, then I realized what was happening, the sounds were so different that all the cues I listen for were not there, it was like tour 52 all over again total noob crap  :rofl

so needless to say I reinstalled your sound pack :D

oh ya on a side note...you should check out that new/old map

I'm not entirely sure I like the voices at the startup of each engine.  I don't mind in the fighters but when I'm making movies, that is going to ruin it in a twin engine fighter or a bomber.

You can switch them out with strartup sounds from another soundpack or delete them and use default. I always recommend mix & matching to suit personal tastes anyway.

Not sure.  I'll have to tinker with it to see the difference in file size and/or quality to see if it'd be worth it.  I have my pc almost back up to speed, so I'll be getting sounds for the newest AH additions out soon. :salute

http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,184203.msg3961662.html#msg3961662

For the A6m3, make a copy of the A6m2 sounds folder and rename it A6m3 then place it in your Sounds folder.  Now I can get on track with the B-29 & Panther.  As slow as I am nowadays, they'll probably have new planes/GVs out before I get it done. :lol

If you don't like it there are two things you can do.  You can delete the engstart.wav sound out of the plane/GV folders, which will revert it back to the default engine start sound, or you can get different engstart.wav sounds from another soundpack & swap em out.  It's all a matter of personal taste. :salute

Hi Ranger,  Boy! .. How many and what models of the Stuka? Maybe this will release with the Me-410 Hornisse.

I need to do historical searches on all of this PLUS design engines that will be similar to each plane.

Are there any GV's involved with the next upgrade?

Stukas will be the remodeled JU-87D-3 and JU-87G-2.

Occasionally I am privy to information about updates, with the understanding that anything I am told stays private.  So, even if I knew something, I wouldn't be able to pass it along.  I can say though with honesty that I have no knowledge about upcoming aircraft or vehicles, although I know something else many people may like. ;)

I'll have to download the pack and see where I left off on it.  I believe with the Panther & B-29.  My personal pack that I use has updates & sounds that I have not added to the public pack yet, so I know they don't match at this time.  I'm most looking forward to playing around with the new sounds they just added. :rock

I sure hope you can do something about the 8" CA gun's traversal sound.  Was it that loud when they turned the guns?  It almost COMPLETELY drowns out shots being fired, either from my turret and/or other 8" turrets.

The issue you are describing Volron is caused by the Environment that HiTech has coded into the ships and guns.

Any Sound Pack will be the same for what you describe ie; ship, plane, vehicle, boat, guns

I would say that it is a realistic sound if conditions are right for the sound to travel across water OR between ships of the fleet echoing across the steel hulls at close range on a tight defensive turn..

Es ist alle für das Spiel!  -  It is all for the game! Gotta Love It ...

To be honest, probably a month or so.  New job & kids' activities are taking up dang near all my time right now.  Been working on it a lil' each night.  Slow but steady.  I had a bunch to update/add, so it's taking a bit.  My apologies bud.
I'll have it complete as soon as possible. :salute

Here's a soundpack I made.  The plane engines are a mix of Waffle's, Fruda's & my own.  I redid all the GV sounds (LTARS!), explosions, weapons, & sound effects.  Feel free to use it or mix it w/ any other soundpack. Enjoy!!:aok

Working on the next update.  Last edition was missing the last 10 or so newest rides, plus I'm making all new start up sounds since some didn't like the "Cleared for take-off" voice overs in the various languages.  That's the part taking the longest.

The main reason there hasn't been an update in awhile is that I had my harddrive died a year ago & I lost everything, including everything I had ever made for AH and the programs I used to make/edit sounds.  I have everything back again now, so now it's just a matter of taking time away from 20 other AH projects & gettin' this baby done. Trust me, it's been driving me nuts that I haven't made the time to do it until recently.  I will have it done & out as soon as I possibly can.  :salute

I wouldn't mind it so much, but if I have something like a P38 with a rad hit in 1 engine and then I spin that engine up and hear "you are cleared for take off" in mid air, its rather unpleasant.

That's what's on the way.  I'm not sure if anyone still has a version before my last update (I don't), but if they do, maybe they'll share it here.  Any of those versions contain no voices.  I lost all previous versions when my last hard drive died. :salute

I have no idea how old that version is.  It's a few years old at least.  I need to get Skuzzy to replace that link on the first page for me with the download link for the newest version, which will probably be a Mediafire link.

The one on the front page IS the newest version, I found that link deep in page 5 in the thread.

Put them into a folder named "sounds". Go into you Aces High folder and rename the "sounds" folder in there to something else like "sounds1" (this way you don't lose your older sounds if you need them again). Move "sounds" folder into your Aces High folder and poof! It should work.

Sorry bud, just saw this.  I'm planning an update as soon as I can that includes all the current planes/GVs and yes, the voice-overs will be removed.  What's held it up for so long is that I had my hard drive die last year, and with it, my sound editing program, which I had no back up.  So, as soon as I can get my hands on the program again (I used Sony Vegas) I'll be putting out a fresh new update to the entire pack.  Trust me, having this on hold for so long has driven me crazy.  I have all the sounds ready to go, but no way to adjust the timing, length, etc. of them to make them worthy of putting out.  All I can say is this stays at the top of my AH project list, and as soon as I have a sound program to use, I'll be busting bellybutton on this. :salute

I'll put up a download tonight.  Be advised I am currently updating it, so there will be a completely new (and up to date) pack coming very soon.  I'm putting all terrain work & other AH projects on hold til it's done.  Been promising an update for quite some time and it's time I make good.  The big hold up was I had a hard drive crash that caused me to lose my sound editing program  with no backup.  I'll get you a link up tonight of the pack I myself am using, so it will be a mix of what others have downloaded plus some of the new sounds going into the new package.

Don't understand how that's possible.  Gotta be a false hit.  I'll just find a new host to ease anyone's mind.  I'll use the sounds I am personally using now.  I don't want it considered an "update" even though there will be many changes from the previous download.  The real update that will contain sounds for every plane & vehicle in the game, plus several choices in sound effects for explosions, etc., is coming soon. :salute
