Unfortunately this was the worst on I have been apart of. Got HOed every merge but one and that one lasted three turns before the spit ran to his buddies and I got the HO by two of them. I don't get face shot that much in the MA....probably won't waste my time again

You do know historically, that was the preferred method of killing in air to air combat during the war.

Especially if they could get that vantage point.

Not even gonna justify that with a reply...

One of the reasons the thatch weave was developed was because allied fighters could not out turn the zeke. It sets up the wingman to HO. Allied fighters tended to be heavier more well armoured, with better guns (50s). In Europe both the Germans and Russians used HOs actively (especially my favourite ride the Yak-9T) as the 37mm has greater range and a single hit kill.

The essential problem fighting a zeke  is the zeke will always turn into you. So if you you have E and avoid a first pass HO, then he is likely to turn back into you before you reverse.

8th USAAF Fighter Command and pilots liberally applied "Head on" passes against the Luftwaffe. In fact, that is how Chuck Yeager was shot down over southern France in his 357FG P-51B. It is only in Aces High where players believe that they should not be quickly killed on the first pass without maneuvering to avoid.

Thank you Puller and all who came to this event.  Nef was under the weather and asked if I could host.  My only reservation was: "I get to fly right?"  If you look at the logs, you will see that I bounced from side to side to keep the numbers even.  I posted this twice last night but, I just wanted to thank all the CC players and squads that worked with me to keep the sides balanced.  It was kinda of cool to see that huge fur ball.  If I Ho'ed anyone I am sorry.  I have no skill and I fully admit that.  I am just on for a good time.  I hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving.  Oh, and it is our secret that I almost gave both sides 262's and 163's and made you fight in the dark!
