-
Sounds like it is out of date or you are running it outside the game directory.

This is the error I'm getting.
Fresh install of AHII as of yesterday. I tried opening Mission Editor from C:\Hitech Creations\Aces High
Windows 7 64-Bit

I just did the same test, Coogan, and didn't have any problems. Which isn't good news since it would be infinitely better if I could reproduce it here.
Can you check these things:
- does it crash if you rename the ahedmiss.cfg file in your settings folder? If not, can you send that file to support@hitechcreations.com?
- can you post the sound devices listed in your dxdiag?
Thanks,
- sudz
PS If this thread gets bigger I'll probably move it over to the Tech Support forum to get other ideas.

Renamed the ahedmiss.cfg to ahedmiss.cfg.test. The Mission Editor launched without a hitch.

*Edit* Sent the file I renamed to support...

Just wondering if anyone is having a problem launching the Mission Editor in the new version of AH...
It's a no-go for me. :frown:

It works for me. There are a few problems with buttons obscuring important controls on my 1280x1024 display, but I've figured out ways to work around them. I'm recompiling all of my missions for compatibility with V2.28.x. As usual, I still need to "tweak" the timing in the complex ones, but I've got 10 of my 12 missions working as "staged missions" now. I hope you can get your copy working. The new possibilities are very exciting.

Mine won't start at all. As soon as I click on the mission editor icon, it crashes...
Coogan

That's wierd.

I can't get mine run missions I've created to test. It keeps crashing and I've tried deleting the config file too to see if it helps.
Anyone else having problem running missions inside the editor? Or is it something else?

Complete crash here.
Wish I could be of help, but it sounds like someone is pissed for an oversight, perhaps on their end...

Things I can think of to try.
1. You are loading a previous mission that no longer exists or the window position is corrupt.
in the settings folder delete ahedmiss.cfg and ahedmssw.cfg
2. Video config problem.
Go into aces high and from the top video menu turn off anti aliasing.
Start off line, go into options/graphic settings and set it to default.
3. Missing ndisles terrain.
This is the default ah terrain and must be there.
4. ahedmiss.exe is not being run out of its directory.
To test launch directly form Microsoft explorer by double clicking ahedmiss.exe and not a short cut.
Those are the only things I can think of that would make it run on one system and not another.

Don't give up, guys! Mine is working pretty well on 4 different computers, In each case, I've tested it successfully under Windows XP (32 bit) and on PcLinuxOS (also 32 bit) via the "Wine" Windows emulator.

Omg, I completely forgot what Sudz had said to try, which is to delete the ahedmiss.cfg file. Thanks to Nurminen for pointing that out to me.
Anyway, I deleted that file and now it's working.

Even so, Coogan, the mission editor should never crash on you. That cfg file only contains the last mission you were working on and apparently crashed on trying to load the last mission. If this happens to you again, open adedmiss.cfg with a text editor like Notepad, note which mission group file it wants to open, and send that mis into support@hitechcreations.com. That way we can figure out what caused the crash.
Thanks,

I am brand new to Aces High, been messing with it offline for a few days, and haven't set up an online account yet for the arena. Want to preview it enough so that I don't look completely stupid when I do start online.
But here is one thing that I've found that will cause it to crash every time. If I manually delete the last mission files that I had saved and compiled, and then try to open the Mission Editor, it crashes. Guess that might be why deleting the CFG file clears that problem.
Up to this moment in time, I had been restoring the mission files that I had deleted, in order to get back in. Then before I left the Mission Editor again, I was leaving it in the state with a "New Mission" sitting in it, knowing I wouldn't manually delete that file.
So much for me to learn, so little time....
