Title: X-52 troubles
Post by: Bosco123 on April 02, 2009, 04:40:08 PM
I have a problem with my Multi-function display on my X-52. It don't come on, at all. I unplug it, and plug it in, and it dosn't work. So I asked a few people the other day what I should do to fix that, and they told me to update the drivers. So today, I did. When I plugged it in, the display came on for a short time, then when back off.
Any reason?

are you plugged directly into the PC or via a USB hub?

X52s are pretty power hungry, and don't always play well with the USB ports built into a computer (computer USB ports depending on manufacturer can be under, or imporperly powered). It's a good idea to have the X52 plugged into a POWERED USB hub.

I'll try that.
Thanks.

Ok didn't work. It only works when I plug it into a new port. Once I take it out and plug back in, the MFD dosn't work. I tried looking at the Saitek forums, and couldn't find anything, and I'm still in a waiting que for getting registered.

The hub you plugged it into, did it have its own power-cord which doesn't connect to the computer?

A lot of people make the mistake of thinking their USB hub is powered because the lights come on when it is in fact an external power source that determines if the USB hub is powered or not.

Bosco, try this, open saitek control panel goto led tab move the sliders and reset it.
Then do same for the MFD display lighting, you may want to lower the light setting on the MFD and see it that helps.

Didn't work.

My guess is, that I have to update somthing on Microsoft itself, maybe I'll go and do that.
