It is with profound sadness to advise the Aces High community of the sudden passing of our friend Pipz. His sister, Amanda, informed us via Facebook, of the following; "I am sad to announce that Keith Marker passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday evening. I am shocked and saddened that I lost my brother. I will post on this page as well as my own when the funeral arrangements have been finalized." Keith was a great guy with a big heart and he will be sorely missed. I am still in shock over this, it's so surreal.I will post further details as they become available. :salute Pipz.

Pipz was a truly great friend of mine...He was one of my first enemies that years and years ago started a PM dialog with me and we became fast friends...both of us having a love of animals we would exchange pics of our dogs and stories of what our dogs and our families were doing...I always hounded him to fly FSO with us and in the scenarios with me when he could...he joined us during the recent 12hr scenario for a couple of sorties and we had great fun together as always...I am at a loss of words for now...totally devastated.... :(

p.s. I think we could take this as a reminder to be a little bit more like Pipz -- here on this forum, where we don't agree on how the game should be played, and in the arenas, where we compete to eliminate or counter the efforts of the "enemy". In the end, we are all members of a relatively small community of people who enjoy our hobby of Aces High, together. Sometimes it's nice to step back and remember that. (Pipz would have said it better, shorter and more colorfully, I'm sure -- but there it is.)

I was sure it was a joke. Started reading this thread, I was thinking it HAS to be a joke. Kept reading, was hoping its a mistake, kept reading. Got tears in my eyes. what? what?? What? WHAT????? NO WAY!!!

Got tears in my eyes, burning tears. Last time I cried about ah (besides laughing at/with someone) was when I heard Kgann had died. I knew Kgann from way back in Air Warrior, use to chat with him about his family.
I use to occasionally chat with Pipz in pm sharing some AH secrets I never told anyone. He was always so upbeat. I cant recall him ever say anything really nasty or mean, always positive and funny.
I dont know if him saying he was in Canada was his running joke or RL. Same with him and Winston and Sal visiting in summer in New Jersey. Didnt matter, was all in good fun. Some years ago here in AH he had posted a pic of himself with a large whitish dog. I would joke with him and ask if it was a Canadian polar bear.
<Salute> to his personal family and to his closes AH friends and squad. Pipz was one of those special "characters" that made AH a special place. Often got a good lol when he chatted about his Winston and Sal adventures.
Please, to those who knew him, post more info about his funeral, where we can send flowers.

Damn, I am literally heartbroken by this news. Pipz was one of those guys I looked forward to seeing every time I logged on. He would always announce 'BFOOOOOOOOOOOT', and would always proceed to ask about how my life was, how school was, and currently how teaching was going. I first ran into him for Der Gross Schlag II. He flew with the 364h FG, and I had the pleasure of winging with him and getting to know him.
Pipz, I want you to know from the bottom of my heart, you were one of the guys that was the heart of this community for me. You gave me a lot of laughter, and a lot of memories that I cannot forget. Soar on brother, you've gained a new set of wings :salute :(

he was always contagiously upbeat. positive attitude always. i loved being around the dude. i think ozrocker may have met him face to face too. he only lived 5 miles from me, and worked a couple miles from my shop........
he had that big bellowy laugh that ya just couldn't not laugh with.

Used to dogfight him on the way to kill bad guys even though we were on the same side. He was a fun guy. Damn........

I saw this on Facebook and thought I'd share,
'Hello Everyone: The staff, volunteers, dogs and cats suffered a great loss yesterday. Our long time volunteer, Keith Marker," suddenly passed away. I would like to tell you about Keith. Keith has been coming to the shelter every day on his lunch break to walk some of our dogs. Not only did he walk the dogs, he would often bring special treats for every dog in the kennel. Not just commercial made dog treats, but homemade goodies such as ham and cheese roll-ups that he rolled and cut into bite size pieces. Sometimes he would bring a box or two of chicken McNuggets. On the weekends, Keith would come and take one of the dogs on a special outing for a walk around Cooper River or Audubon Lake. On Fridays, Keith would pop in after work to see if he could lend a hand in the kennel so the staff could leave a little early or even right at 5. Keith came and helped out every holiday and snow day. We could always count on Keith. Sometimes, if he was in the mood, he would drive the staff a little crazy. You could hear the girls holler, "Keith! Knock it off." Always playing around and creating a bit of havoc. He made us all laugh. Keith adopted his two dogs, Jake and Edie, from Almost Home. Keith was dedicated to both the people and the animals at Almost Home. We will miss him very much. Please bare with us as we grieve and become accustomed to Keith not being here every day to lend a helping hand. RIP Dear Friend. Here are some pictures of Keith and the dogs he loved.'
This just tells you the type of person Pipz was. He brought all this to the game, and so much more. I'm still shocked, and I wish this wasn't true. Pipz would always, always check in on me, and I'm going to miss that so much.
But just remember this for those of us who knew him, he's not really gone, he's in our memories, he's in our hearts, and he's always going to be there cheering us on no matter what we do in life, and he'll be waiting on us till it's our turn.

Saw this on Facebook earlier. This one stings having known Pipz a long time. He was a squaddie for a while back when the KillnU formed 475th FG was flying together. He was a history buff and model builder so we used to trade info back and forth and he'd show me images of his latest models.
Anyone who flew with Pipz was subject to his 'singing' that we all said was a basis for war crimes:)
My most lasting memory of Pipz is from DGS II. We went in together on a pair of 190s in our 364th 51s. In the midst of the fight Pipz starts to yell at me to not help him with the second 190 as it wouldn't be fair. He got him on his own, but I was laughing as it spoke volumes about Pipz approach to the game. It needed to be fun and fair, even in a scenario where staying alive mattered.
Pipz final tally in DGS II on the Mustang profile I did for him honoring his singing ability :)

Aside from AH, one of Pipz's primary passions was the volunteer work he did at the local rescue shelter. He spent most weekends walking the dogs, cleaning kennels and taking them for rides in his car. Here he is with one of his beloved Pitties.

Thanks for posting this picture; it's nice to be able to put a face to the voice and personality.
He was so much fun to fly with in Big Week. He'd play clips of German music over Range channel as we rose in our Me109s to seek out the bomber formations.

The news hit me real hard. It is now 24 hours since I read about it and only now I can bring my self to reply.
Like many others here I really hoped that this is some kind of a joke, like his running gag about living in the Canadian wilderness with only Wilson the moose to keep him "company"...
Pipz was my friend. Oddly enough, a friend whom I never met and only knew as "Pipz", though he may have mentioned his name - I never told him mine. Yet, we "met" in Aces High twice or three times a week and had good laughs. We could joke about anything from current news to ancient history. Always jolly, always funny and he knew how to make it stick to you. I don't recall him ever angry or bitter. That "HUZZA!" message when he logs in and the "Shalom belly" (his Italian-Hebrew mismash mispronunciation) on the Loose Deuce team speak channel when he saw our Italian and Israeli members logged in. God, I am going to miss him.
For those of us that have been playing this game for well over a decade, Aces High is more of a social club than a computer game. The game itself just provides the framework. I keep logging in for the people and Pipz was the kind that you keep coming to meet again. No face, no name, no background, just a voice and typed text - he made me like him by 100% personality alone.
My condolences to his family, to the Aces High community and the Loose Deuce squadron. We lost one of the best.

I just found out late last night, in shock like everyone else, he had mentioned about coming to Atlantic Canada and we were to set up a meeting time, would of love to have a beer with him. always friendly, always something to say.

Oh, man. I am astonished and saddened to hear this. I flew with Pipz in big week and just today asked him to fly with me in rabaul, figuring i,d for sure be flying with him again. I first read about this on Facebook yesterday, and am so sorry to hear this sad news. I have known Pipz for many years now and whenever I logged into the game, whether in the MA or Special Events for a scenario or TDI, he always had a friendly greeting for me. I will definitely miss him even though we never met.

Honestly I found myself agitated and saddened by the thought of him never logging on again... The game I played last night was filled with my whining on 200 last night about stuff I never would have and a the thought of PIPZ in the back of my mind all night I wasn't having fun the game wasn't the same for me last night.... This may take awhile

Sad loss for this game and community, Pipz has been here from the start, I remember him way back when I first started flying in the beta and first version of this game in 2000. No kinder player in the game, always positive, and from his FB page was a kind person in his life, donating most of his free time to an animal shelter, even his lunch breaks. His legacy is one anyone would aspire to have, all the kind words and stories regarding his character here, prove that.
I'm not sure who is going to co ordinate his fly by/farewell here, but many have mentioned the planes he loved to fly, the recent FM2 being a new favorite, the P39, and so forth. The last model he completed was a beautiful LA, I hope it and the others are all represented in his flyby salute.

Awe buddy I'm so sorry.....if there was one constant in this world, it was there was always a kind word in the arena, or on the board if you were around. More than once my screen has been covered in my beverage after reading your text or hearing your vox. Rest easy my friend, the world is a much darker place without your light.
To his family, what an honor it must have been to have him in your life. While we only had him in voice and type, you were able to have the kindness, love and laughter he filled your hearts with , day to day and in person. From my family to yours, you have our deepest sympathies and condolences.

I started in AW in the 90's. Been in Aces High since Its' first day in Beta, (has never come out). I have made many friends during this time and I must say not many were funnier than Pipz. I am very saddened at his passing and will miss him and his good humor. I have children older then Keith, that is what makes this especially sad for me as I am sure it is for his family.

Id really like to try to make this memorial flight. I'm still shaken up about this. Such a great guy, it infuriates me he had to go this way.
I think the plane should either be a La5 or 190a5. Think I saw him in those planes more than any.

I've known Pipz/Mark for 20 or more years going back before AH, he had come looking for me after some players told him to find me to help him better his BFM/ACM and he was always like how all of you have posted/spoke of him... Pipz and I always joked with each other every since that first initial meeting...
I imagine Pipz is sitting in the o'club in heaven with KGann, LW, RTR, Buzzard, Niff, X2Lee, whels as well as all the others we have lost too soon...they are up there telling dogfighting stories and talltales and smiling their sunshine down on all of us!

Now I can think more clearer.
I got to know Pipz in the old days of AW. In fact, I still keep some AW movies where he showed up flying. It's been a long time.
But that was the day he joined Loose Deuce squad that I will never forget. It was one of many nights joining TeamSpeak squad channel and then I heard a deep, strong voice talking with a sympathy that caught me up from the first moment. Since then, the level of enjoyment went to the next level in TS. You were there, playing Aces High to fly planes, to have fun with squaddies and to laugh with Pipz.
And there he was, everynight, trying to say spanish words to me, talking CIAOO BELLI to our Italian squaddies. There he was SINGING OPERA while he was trying to shoot someone's plane down. There he was trying to communicate with me despite my poor english listening level. There he was giving us a better life in AH.
Then I realized that me and the Loose Deuce were extremely lucky so that we could spent 1-2 hours with Pipz that close, one shining diamond for the comunity.
Destiny gave us a present, letting AH community to enjoy of his presence.

Thanks for clarifying my time conversions from CET (also Thank You nrshida) , I took those straight off of Lusche's Linked Time conversion URL, and there was a note about CET and United Kingdom being 4 hours apart and not on UTC/GMT during Summer Months..... hence my questioning that it didn't look right in my post along with my memory that every since playing AW that Leon and I were always either 5 hours or 6 hours apart depending on what time of the year it was..

CET is always one hour ahead of UK time because it also has its own version of British Summer Time. They all end / start on the same date. BST goes to GMT on the last Sunday of October.

GMT is the non-summertime time. Britain is currently on BST (British Summer Time) which is equivalent to UTC (central universal time). Essentially, whatever time it is in Britain, it is always one hour ahead on CET, whatfer that pesky sun choochin around at it's own pace (<- Canadian).

was great to see everyone, turnout was 70+ at one point and I know there were many more that couldn't make it. Would have surely surpassed 100 on another time.
Pipz might not have won any flying or fighting competitions but he sure as hell won our hearts and minds.

What a touching, emotional event! The one person whom I would have loved to see there had no plane or icon to see, then again he was the one who really was there in spirit.
It still is so hard to believe that I keep looking at the message bar in hope to see Pipz, wanting to read his comments about this last week starting from the first post in this thread, ending to the memorial flight. Maybe someday in another place and time.

Yes, when I first heard what had happened from the Facebook Aces High III (the unofficial AH) group, I was in disbelief. Pipz was the one who always saluted us finns with his famous "KIPPIS!" shout and as of late when we have gotten less active on AH arena and I used to fly alone, Pipz invited me to loose deuces radio despite the fact I was drunk as a skunk. Very kind spirited chap he was - seeing so many people attending his memorial flight sure did state this fact.

According to his sister, Pipz was a great guy full of life. It was no different online. I never got to meet him in person, but he was my friend in Loose Deuce. It was always lively with Pipz online. He was so full of life that when I heard the news, I thought it must be a joke. Unfortunately it's not a joke.

Just heard the bad news from an old Aces High 2 squad member and it broke my heart.
