Not a whine, just wanted to throw this out there to get other's opinion.
I recently started playing again since 2013 and one aspect of the game that has been much different since then was sometimes GVs became virtually impossible to spot.
The norm has been (especially in off hours) to spawn in, hide under greenery, shut off engine and you become almost impossible to find. I understand the fact to give GVs some leverage to being bombed or strafed, but even a FI has a hard time doing its job spotting when the GV is dug in. I have filmed it and it just seems as though the only purpose is to grief others to go look for them for some time to keep you busy.
I found a way to counter this (depending on how persistent I feel) is by filming, reviewing and going back to shoot them down.
Can we please find a way to make it easier for at least the FIs to spot things much easier?

That seems like a worse offense than flashing a base to me

If you know of a better method. Please let me know.
-
Yeah. Just let it be and let them flash away and waste their time.
-
Jump in a jeep. GVs hiding under foliage was a problem IRL
-
Being an avid gv-er, I personally don't see anything wrong using film to locate someone that has been sitting at a base and just letting it flash. I usually let it flash for 30 or 40 minutes and if they don't move then I'll use AH film to find them. With cybro you almost have to do that.
-
There’s a couple who are repeat offenders, one even macro spawns back in if you’re lucky enough to find them. At least the respawn is easier to figure. Film and kill them for now.

Bring back the pre Storch GV icons.
This is a combat game. It's time to stop enabling the avoiding combat behavior.
-
I don't like the GV sector markers or the lack of GV icons.
I think it used to be that GVs had icons within 2.5K and this seemed reasonable. It wasn't very hard to hide from planes and it wasn't impossible for planes to hide from GVs. Seemed like a good balance to me.

this is great for the hunters but not good for the hunted

Last night while trying to take a base, there were literally 2-3 people who kept rolling M3s to try and resupply the town, rather than roll literally anything else to defend the base. This is a problem.
-
GV game is dead. Used to roll all the time. No more. I have other games I will play instead of hunting a bushman for 30-45 minutes that is great at hiding.
-
Make the battery go dead in a GV that sits with engine off for more than 10 minutes, so he has to call for a jeep with jumper cables. :D
-
They can hide from planes, but they cannot hide from the M-8. I find them almost ever single time. No need to look at the recording, just drive out and look for shadows
among the trees and bushes. You can traverse the upper portion of the gv dar, then go back the other way in the southern portion. M-3's and Jeeps are the hardest to find because they are small and green. Wirbs and Osties are the easiest because they appear Golden color in the trees
and bushes :D The only gv I hate to find is the T-34/85 because if I don't pop the turret right away I am dead with one shot. I got my buddy hurless one night, but that was because he
was afk for awhile.

Come back in to AvA on Thursday nights! We are trying to rebuild the hv game. It’s great fun!

I tried this. Initially taking out a M8 and cruising through the GV sector dar you can pretty much narrow down where they are. In reviewing film, I do not know if its a graphics issue on my end, but I have literally stepped on them and not known it.
Im guessing the tactic is just to keep the enemy busy at their base being that they do this with no intent of shooting back or even wanting a fight. if they did, I wouldn't get that close.
It's a lame feature in the game and personally I have not used it to my advantage.
In the very least, the Storches should have all hands access to GV icons. At least from 2.5k.
My other question here is, do proxy kills better your score or stats? I have seen these guys get 5-6 kills as proxies from players just bailing after not finding them.

I suggest getting a hold of Easycor. he does tank training and is quite good. also, stop in to AvA on Thursday nights . the more you are in a gv, the better you get !!

where do you hit the turret? Anywhere or where it sits on chassis?

The M-8 gun only has a 37mm AP round so you have to hit square in the middle from behind. If you are really close it will pop with one shot, but from further away it takes two
shots.

GV game is not dead, if you know how to play it. Ask 1BDSPADE, he's one of the good gv-ers in your squad.
