Title: Looking for a gunsight can someone help
Post by: Wizz on January 28, 2015, 05:25:35 PM
It's a P51 gunsight that has two little dots in it one for rockets and the other for bombs right below where the gun fires. Can't remember exactly what the actual name was but I know it's a P51 gunsight got mine from dogfight. I can't dive bomb without it. Don't need to hear I just need practice with other sights I want this one back. If u have it can you email it to me. Jordan.roofmechanics@gmail.com thx in advance.

Does it have a center pipper dot for aiming your guns or, only a 400yd dot for rockets and 45 degree dot for bombs? Or are you aiming both rockets and guns off the center dot? When you received it from dogfight, was it only a single bitmap file or did it have a mil file with the same name as the bitmap file? Can you recall the name of the bitmap file?

1. - What angle do you shoot rockets from?
2. - What angle do you drop bombs from?
3. - Do you always beat people with a stick when asking for a favor?

It had a dot for gun, below that one for rockets, below that for bombs. Not sure the angles of attack with rocket or bomb. It was a single file that I could just copy and paste Into AH folder. Not sure about question #3 yet just hoping someone has this gunsight and can send it to me.

Chances are dogfite went offline and started with the rocket and bomb dot where he thought they should be. Then he mapped the fire rockets and drop bomb button to the screen capture function. Then he enabled the lead computing dive bombing sight and flew at something several times taking screen captures. Then he moved his dots around until they worked for him based on the screen captures.

I remember telling him to do that years ago when he was with us in POTW.

What color were the dots? And then I can post you a few gunsights to test.

Since you are coming back again, would you like a link to my historic gunsight package of gunsights from every country with a folder full of ww2 gunnery manuals? There is one in there from the NAVY on glide bombing. Basically how we bomb with fighters in our game. There is also an AAF gunsight with the bomb and rocket aid in it that was used in WW2.

That's the one I used for pony when I was actively playing, the bottom "squares" for dive bombing, the upper "squares" for rockets
