I have no idea which sounds you were using before. The Fmod versions I am using are much richer with many more levels of variability that was not possible before.

Yeah Dolby, AH3 uses a completely different sound system from AH2, so the old sound packs won't work at all. Making alternate sounds for the new system is quite involved apparently and AFAIK, Challenge is the only one that's come up with some.

....and Chalenge has done a great job so far on the pack too!

AND now that we're all going to be locked indoors for the approaching months . . . it should get even better.

I've been giving it a whirl. I love the 110 engine note.  :aok

Well many.... not all.

Me too, lots of wild space here to hike, fish, and if we feel like shooting, it's off the deck or a short walk.  A good time to live rural.  After an 8 mile hike my wife talked me into going fishing....was cold but we got a nice fat 21.5" rainbow!  Fishing is off to a good start this year anyways!

But more of your sound art is always appreciated Chalenge!

I'll give it a look, but I think the 30mm is actually still the AH default. I 'may' have replaced it.

How do I uninstall this and go back to default sounds? I cannot take my VR headset off for even a split second with this pack without my engine sounds going silent. All other sounds are still there though. It used to happen occasionally with default sounds but since installing this sound pack, it does it every time without fail.
Sucks because I did like the P-38 engine sound.

Just erase the *.bank files in \HTC\Aces High III\CustomSounds\Desktop

How taking your headset off would cause it is beyond me.

Just tested it after deleting the .bank files and it is operating as it should be again, engine sounds are not dropping when I remove headset anymore. Another problem that I was having with the sound pack was every time I'd pass an enemy plane it would sound like his engine was stopping and restarting. I realize guys do this (rarely) but it was happening about every time with the sound pack.

I think this is a feature. Also, it is to be resolved in the next patch. But, I am not sure when that patch will come.

Chalenge,

Just want to comment that I've been flying 109 G6, 190 A-5, and mostly P-47  D11 in MA to practice for July's scenario...and have been greatly enjoying the fruits of your work with the improved sounds in all three birds.     :aok

I’ve noticed this with the Mustangs each time one passes.  Not so much which others.

It happens with every airplane. The P-51 sounds like it is about to blow up when it passes from behind, but sounds very tame in front of you when it is coming at you. It is an odd sound thing, for sure.

Good point!  In real life, the Mustang does sound pretty bad when it’s pulled all the way to idle.

I think you missed my point. It just does not sound like a real airplane in certain situations, in my opinion. But, I know very little. It is almost as if the game, instead of letting you hear the engine from 1.5 to 800, takes those sounds and applies it at 800 at double speed until it passes. Almost like the sound is at 2x speed. It makes for a very unpleasant experience. Given the popularity of the P-51 in the MA, I had to resort to default. I eagerly await a patch!

It would be very helpful if you would record it, note the time in the recording in which it occurs, and then upload it for me. TIA

I certainly have the restart on contact fixed, but try as I might I cannot recreate whatever the "double speed" problem is.

I have been using this sound pack several months so thanks for the work Chalenger and overall it's very good. I forget the original sounds at this stage as I didn't play with them very long but the german wep and engine sounds are particularly good and most British aircraft too.

If the download link is not working, try using another browser.

Chrome didn't work for me, changed to edge and i could download.

Happy flying.

There appears to be a flaw or glitch in the tank sounds. The model name  and number of the offending tanks tracks moving create an error such as 't3485 track sound cannot be found using default instead' - it gives away enemy GV type of certain models. Its also filling the console full of track sound errors.

I Use the Rift-S.

I had the same problem with Challenges sound pack when removing the headset.  I solved this by putting a small piece of cardboard over the sensor (in the headset just above the nose) when playing AH (honestly i just leave it there).

This way the Headset doesn't know it's been removed.

The problem with loosing game sound lies somewhere in the transition from "In Headset" to "On Monitor".  This may be solved or alleviated also by setting ALL SOUND SOURCES the same from "desktop to game to Headset source settings".

Alas, that is a pain in the bellybutton to switch n set every time you wanna play AH, so just use the stupid teeny piece of cardboard.

P.S.

I also have the P-51 experience, however it doesn't seem to be "every time" and I also have gotten use to it.  It's actually Kind of nice knowing what it is and the I need to do some Pilot Stuff when I hear that all of a sudden behind me.

Good luck,
Diggs
