I can feel your pain, a customer just wanted to get rid of his old Outlook e-mail because it was "overtaken by potatos" as he said. BUT: That address is the Microsoft account he uses for signing in to Windows and Edge automatically signs in with that...

To start with, why on Earth do you allow Mother to use your account? Does she open your mail as well? Creating another account for her with limited privileges would both allow for her to get all the Edge garbage she wants and still prevent her installing anything cross-account apps or programs including browser add-ons.

Click on Window>>Settings>>Apps>>Default Apps

Scroll down to to Web Browser. Click on whatever is under it and select what you want to be your default.

Security is your only big hole. You have to be diligent with your third party AV.

This worked for me when I wanted to delete that POS browser.

But if you can't delete it you can at least shut it down from running in the background with this trick.

That's right spikes, I was a long time die hard win-7 lover and was stuck in love with an OS that was 20 years old and had to die for me. My switch to win10 was the biggest and the best change to my PC ever!

For you dudes not fishing I thank you of course. LOL @ the HTC bb die hard fishers! lmao!

Thank you all for your replies towards me and helping me with my issue. ALSO, I forgot to ask would any of you dweebs be aware of the icon for Edge and if they will ever give us back the older more "classic" looking icon again?

I suppose the new Chromium based Edge will keep the current icon as it's an entirely new product only modified by Microsoft. The icon for the Microsoft built "old" Edge was based on Internet Explorer which, despite equally being of non-MS origin, was a part of Windows for several decades.

You can change the icon to anything you like as long as the image is in .ico form. The old icon can be found in the Internet as a free download.

I read about the ability to make the icon Whatever you want. The next problem I had was to find a compatible icon made un the necessary format. Do any of you guys have the original icon made in the necessary format?

Try Google: https://www.google.com/search?source=univ&tbm=isch&q=edge+icon+.ico&client=firefox-b-d&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjEufTS1pvrAhUQqYsKHbR5ClIQsAR6BAgJEAE&biw=2560&bih=1444#imgrc=F9UnOvjm34gWgM (https://www.google.com/search?source=univ&tbm=isch&q=edge+icon+.ico&client=firefox-b-d&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjEufTS1pvrAhUQqYsKHbR5ClIQsAR6BAgJEAE&biw=2560&bih=1444#imgrc=F9UnOvjm34gWgM)

Some of them have the .ico as an option. If not, there's online .png to .ico converters like https://convertio.co/png-ico/ (https://convertio.co/png-ico/)

Once you made the xxxx.ICO file, save it. Right click the program icon you want to change, select properties. When that window opens on the bottom is a "change icon" button. Click it, browse to where you saved the xxxx.ICO file and click it and save it.

What Fugi said...

Ain't it funny how we may take some things as given? It never popped into my mind that not every computer user knows how to change icons. To me it has been clear since Win95. It's something I learned by accident just by fulfilling my curiosity about my new computer. It was my first experience using a mouse so it seemed natural to test what the buttons and the various options may do. Sometimes it led to a situation where the computer wouldn't work and I had to take it to a repair shop. After having paid through the nose a couple of times I then tried to figure out how to fix the self made issues.

Same here....  started back with Windows 3.1 and lots of DOS.

Scrap Edge and use something else.  Even FireFox.  Unless you just like to share your data willy-nilly.
