I think shadows are a cool effect that adds to immersion and leave them enabled 99% of the time. However, on my system, shadows are a big load on the GPU. By disabling shadows near the ground my frame rate nearly doubles. I suspect that this might be true for many players.
I'd like to be able to toggle shadows on/off with a keystroke so it is quick to do when the fight gets low, when attacking a base or town, or when scanning the terrain in a GV.
