Why it let me to download only two files at the same time? No limit with NetScape ...
-
I think it's to save bandwidth for the server.
If 5 guys download 5 files... that's 25x the amount of load.. and that increases exponentially depending on connection speeds of each person downloading files.
But, if you use Download Accelerator Plus (free) you can use it to download more than 2 files at a time.
I think cnet, or tucows, hosts the downloads for DAP.

I zipped and burned them to a CD so it may take awhile to find them.
I download 6-8 (small) files at a time with I.E. 6 without any problems.

It's a registry setting.
Crap, I can't find it here. I have it at work. A quick registry hack removes this limitation.
Yep, it's dumb... but easily worked around.
I'll find the site at work tomorrow and post the solution.

Allow more than 2 simultaneous downloads in IE 6 TOP
This is to increase the the number of max downloads to 10.
1. Start Registry Editor
2. Locate the following key in the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/InternetSettings
3. On the Edit menu, click Add Value , and then add the following registry values:
"MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server"=Dword:0000000a
"MaxConnectionsPerServer"=Dword:0000000a
4. Quit Registry Editor.
Reboot
