Just wanted to let you guys know we had a good time flying near your squad on Sunday during our squad day.

It was a lot of fun and hopefully next month we can try to do it again.

RedTop!

<> Always a pleasure when we can wing with another squad in the game!

As one of the larger squads in the game, its been fun to develop same country and opposing country squad relationships.

hmmm that reminds me..... isn't this Friday an off FSO night?  Rep0...Pliss??

Yeah its an off night 4X.....

This past Sunday was our last officail squad day of the year. As you know we are primaraly a fighter squad and don't do base taking really.

But this past Sunday...I thought we'd do the toolshed thing a bit....It was fun. You guys and 71 cleaned up that west coast. Fun time....look forward to giving you guys some cover next time.

It was fun for me as well Redtop! I'm glad that we were able to get the 71st, JG11 and 364th all working together. I'm also glad that I caught you fella's on the right night. :)

The 3 of our squads were ROLLING, and i mean ROLLING, bases on the bish front. C-Hawks got the whole thing started though. :D

Hope to do it again sometime, was some of the most fun i've ever had.
I got 5 base captures on Sunday by the way. That ties a record for me!

JG11 and 71st RAF, was tons of fun. Was good to see Knight squads working together!

Regards,
Subway

Thats why we rarely ever "do" this type of stuff. This was pretty mild turnout for us. My 1st ever "official 71st sweep" was easily over 70 jugs...not only do we have a large squad...but alot of informal friends. One of these titanic tueadays we'll need to shoot for a 100 plane sortie:aok

No...he said it just the way it was...and you bending his words to suit your outlook of what you want it to be......is typical.

For ONCE the knights took it to the other sides.....and now they horde....laughable at best.

Knights have been in the barrel for a while....and a few knight squads....did some work together...and you make it into that.

GO away.....

71 Sqd RARELY ever does base capture....we just like doing fighters mainly....Don't get all bent cause the bish took a punch on the chin.

So what exactly were the odds in these fights then?  One to one?  Two to one?  Three to one?  What do YOU define as a hoard.  Three squads isn't a hoard?

I wasn't there but the only way one side "Rolls" the other is to hoard them.

To believe you fought honorably against even odds then pat yourselves on the back till you're black and blue is whats laughable.

I'm not the least bit bent.  As I said, I wasn't even there.  Just calling it what it probably was based on the description.

[EDIT]  BTW, I'm confused as to why you think my "bending his words" is "typical" of me.  To my recollection, I've only ever done that once before and it was in a joking manner, as was this to begin with.  It sounds to me like someone's realizing that my words are hitting a little to close to home.

we take plenty of Bish bases on the week days and we only have around 6-8 players on the weekdays. i dont know what you mean when one country rolls bases they do it in hordes. my squad does it with few amount of players. half the time we are out numbered when we do take the base. :noid

baldeagle,

I am not sure why you have a problem with a bunch of guys getting together to take bases. Why belittle the event by calling it a horde. After all, you yanks used the same method to win ww2. And so did the British General Montgomery.
He was known for not engaging until he had overwhelming forces ready.

Anyways, whats your worst case scenario, you lost some bases. Did you try your best to defend and make them work for it? Did you decide not to partake and go to another arena? You do have choices here.

Oh my god.  Here we go again.

This started out as a bit of ribbing, no harm intended.  Once again I see that people on these BBs have no sense of humor.

Like I've already said, I wasn't even there so no, I didn't do anything to defend.  I probably wasn't even on-line.

I have no problems with squad ops or even hoards.  They're part of the game.  Even I participate in the hoard sometimes but at least I'm willing to acknowledge it for what it is and I don't come to the BBs afterward to brag about how awsome our hoard was.

I'm glad you guys had fun.

well said vertex, thank you.
the truth is, bladegle and types like him are either in the horde or moaning about the horde.
he is a score player, what more can we expect? soon as the odds become detrimental to his score card his only course of action is to complain.

when we had close to 30 people in base capture mode there was usualy around 30 bish defenders at the start of the raid. fact is, we beat them down so hard with our fighter escorts that they gave up and let us have the base.

one of our last missions was an NOE raid to a far away port. we took the port quickly and moved our formation of bombers towards the airfield nearby.

the enemy pushed our bombers down and killed all our fighters, then re-took the port with a GV raid.

Widewing was one of the defenders during this raid, and he showed us what a real man defends like. against the odds he and few others came at us with vigour, and we were defeated. I expect the likes of baldegle just loogged off, because fighting us would have been too risky.

S! widewing and the few enemy who defended so well. it was like the BoB all over again and the FEW defeated our 'horde' because they went for it without moaning and whining.

a horde by my definition is a group of unorganised players all in fighters trying to get kills without even a hint of teamwork.

a formation of 15 bombers with a fighter escort is not a horde, it is a huge barrel of fun to fly with or against.

I doubt I logged off.  I didn't even log on Sunday night until 11:00 PM CST after the Sunday night football game.

Believe what you will about how I play.  I don't really care but most of my time is spent seeking out one on ones away from the hoards both friendly and enemy.  It's why my fighter rank is never high because I can't get the kills per time needed, so it's not all about score for me.

So Bat, you took your hoard NOE to an undefended base?  Good job!  Pat yourself on the back.  I thought more of you.

Looking for Plissken here is like fishing without a pole. I'm not sure he even has a BBS account. I have no idea what the squad is up to this Friday. I've been working on a top secret project with HB and Golfer. I've not been in the MA's since last week. Spivey knows how to contact him. I'll post in our squad email group and see what the response is.

CHawks. A class act squad!

I'll make a couple of comments here......

1st) overall numbers weren't very lopsided, I'd say 1.3 to 1 as a guess. The initial targets were somewhat defended and the rest were engaged in an offensive of there own. The most guys we had up was 32 and most of the time 25 or so...

2nd) While we were finishing up A12 & A13 the biquits launched a spirited counter attack and took A35 & A36 reestablishing a foothold before we actually could kick them out.

3rd) while your certainly allowed to voice your thoughts, having an opinion on events you didnt witness and demeaning them because of what "you think" happened seems a bit petty.

4th) Alot of the action wasnt lopsided. The original bomber mission was tasked with V55 and A59 (going from memory). As we neared the V base RT split me off with 4 fighters to A44 to help out and suppress outbound fighters to the buffs. We found the CH's heavily engaged on the ground with limited air support. We engaged for 15 min + vs superior (and constantly upping numbers as well as inbounds from A59) losing 2 of the original 4. We were suplemented by a couple of late arrivals and finally got 3 of the 6 birds home.

Part of the success was not in "hording" but in smaller elements fighting against greater numbers to maintain pressure and momentum and pin down some bisquits. This is a bit different then a large gaggle attacking largely undefended bases one at a time vs minimal opposition.

NP,

Again no question we had the edge in both #'s and co-ordination but it wasnt 80 guys vs 8 either. All 3 squads had there own game plan but we did a good job of keeping "aware". Our few planes at A44 both helped the CH's and screened are buffs....which actually hit all 4 bases on the one sortie (55,59,12,13). Was a fun time for all of us and I think pretty good action for both sides:aok
