Title: Bf 110G Bomber Destroyer
Post by: Devil 505 on April 29, 2024, 09:42:19 PM
Bf 110G-2 "2N + CL" of 3./ZG 76 in the Spring of 1944 while based at Prague, Czechoslovakia. ZG 76 was tasked with intercepting U.S. bombers over southeastern Germany, Austria, and Czechoslovakia, and they were usually outfitted with extra cannon pods and the Wgr. 21 rocket launchers. Reference photos of this aircraft are not clear enough to show what the individual aircraft letter was, only that it was yellow and marked only with a black outline over the yellow tail band. I chose "Yellow C" as it seems a letter likely to blend into its background in a grainy image because of the lack of straight lines and open space. For those unfamiliar with the Luftewaffe codes, yellow is reserved for the third Staffel (squadron) in each Gruppe, and the final letter being "L" indicates it belonging to I Gruppe, and thus 3rd Staffel. So the squadron is not in doubt, only the individual aircraft letter. The other markings are a yellow dot and ring on the prop spinners.

Yep, as there should be.

I always thought it should be like a black plastic-esc triangular cover?

Nice, but engine nacelles and spinners are from 110 C/D/E.

Might just be the window on the outboard sides with the gauge cluster under the glass on the inboard side. The engine covers are the same for both engines to simplify construction, so that's why there's a window on both sides.

As to why the gauges are there on the AH model, I'm sure it was Waffle saving time by using just one texture. There are more glaring shortcut induced errors on our 110's than the gauges.

Nice, but engine nacelles and spinners are from 110 C/D/E.

That's one of them, albeit with a capped spinner where our C4b has the open tip spinner.
