Title: List :)
Post by: Fariz on March 21, 2000, 05:02:00 AM
For the several month in AH I heard a lot of different complains from many people. It appears to me that understanding of what is "dweebish" "sucks" "lame" and "not fair" varies greatly. Here is a list, I am sure it is not full, but anyway:

1) Flying spit (too easy to fly it), stang (climbs too fast) hog, 190 or niki (big guns).
2) Flying buff too high for guys with big guns to intercept.
3) Ditching (even if smoking, no fuel, no ammo and hordes of enemy fighter around).
4) Flying outside the map.
5) Lagging and warping(both by who was shot and who shot him down)
6) HO (complained from those who were high, who were low, who were level, and those who was offline dating their girlfriends).
7) Surprise kill.
8) AFK and typing kill (as if it AFK was  wrote on the wing of the plane!)
9) Distant kill ("You were 1.2k from me!")
10) Landing with no fuel and beeing killed.
11) Using buffs as a gun platform.
12) Strifing troopers while on runway.
13) Flying wing ("Two on one!")
14) Boom and zoom ("All that high spits!")
15) Hit and run ("You are a coward!")
16) Turn and burn ("Fly a real plane, man!")

As this list continue growing, I afraid soon we will find out that pushing the trigger is "dweebish" too. So, here is my proposals:

1) We may all switch on 47 and fly arond the map sightseeing. We may establish air shows, air dancing parties, air contests and so on.
2) We may establish a schedule: one day knits flies fighters, all other fly 47, and then we will switch; though in such case I will suggest not go give rooks right to fly fighters, they are evil anyway.
3) Why not to remove the guns from all the fighters or to change ammo on rubber bullets?
4) Killing of all who complains (I am against it, will soon bankrupt HT; and also, I still want to live a little bit longer  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I'll list some of my favourites  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)..usually broadcasts on ch 1.

1. "you alt-f4 dweeb" - (he alt-f4 he won't be there anymore..eh?? <nudge> )

2. "you HO dweeb" - takes two..

3. "did you die too?" (after HO usually)..so what!?

4. "I get killed by 1 ping but I spray the guy and he flies off unhurt" - this one seems contradictory to me. Sorta like "keyboard error...press any key to continue"

5. "hehe I was outa fuel/ammo" - usually after dying in a duel.  Well you should have gone home then shouldn't you?

I'm sure there were others, but can't think of them right now  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif).

This one happens to me fairly often when I'm flying a buff.  I can pour a solid 2 seconds of Nerf(TM) .50's into a bandit that's making a run on me, but he kills me with 1 ping and flies away undamaged.

Now if only I could find the armorer so we could 'discuss' these rubber bullets.....

I gettin kinda tired of hearin

"HEY WHATS WRONG WITH YOU GUYS!! CAN"T YAH SEE WE'RE GONNA LOSE F##??

followed by

YOU DICKHEADED DWEEBS>> ARE WE GIVIN FIELDS AWAY?? DAMN>> WHATA BUNCHA MORONS

Shortly there after..

SEE I TOLD YAH WE"D LOSE THAT FIELD!! A**HOLES!!!

All from some guy thats orbiting at 35k as far from the action as possible.

Nothin like thrilling and inspiring the crews to greater victory... jeeze. Thank god (HiTech) we got a squelch command. Without it; these mornic diatribes would drive me from the sim.

Bravo, Fariz, bravo.

I agree wholeheartedly.  It seems people think whatever other people do is "dweebish" if it is different that the way they fly/fight.

I know that I am very new to this game ,,, but this stuff seems to happen on every flight sim I fly . What I found on the RAF 71 site seems to make the best sense to me .
 http://www.eagle-nest.org/rules.html (http://www.eagle-nest.org/rules.html)

Conduct:

"All RAF 71 Pilots must abide by the Zone Code of Conduct. Any breach of these rules will result on one warning. If the conduct continues the pilot will be demoted to a non-commissioned rank and thus be subject to immediate removal from the squadron, should the conduct continue further. It is of most importance that this game be fun and exciting for all. When pilots of any affiliation argue or taunt each other it often offends other players and makes their time less enjoyable. There is only one true way to quite a player that is obnoxious. Shot him or her down quietly and effectively.

There is only one expectable response to a kill scored against you. GK! You can assume as RAF 71 pilots, that any response that is not good-natured is wrong. Anger in a GAME is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. You will die and others will score kills on you. Except this and seek to improve your skills and you will."

Plus one of our own pilots ( air_Pokryshkin )posted this once then I copyed it and saved it on the web to remind me to all ways be in the first group .

Distinguish between two groups of virtual pilots within hard-core layer (I am NOT referring to "weekend-flyer-for-fun" type of gamers here).

First group : THE tough virtual pilots. These are accepting the fact of defeating as *push* for further improvements (often seeking for help/advises from opponent(s), asking to share the details of techniques/tactics/training were used). After that they do learn more, practice more and improve themselves.

Second group: virtual pilots, who *think* about themselves as virtual Aces (pure subjective judgement, primarily based on the mix of their skills and their ego thing). Latter, when defeated, simply *cannot* accept that and start looking for "comments", "excuses", whatever crap it might be (I know tens of virtual *Aces* from both groups, so I know what I am talking about)....

Last I remember what my mother taught me , "if you have nothing good to say , don't say anything" , good advice I mostly keep quite as lots of players take what u say out of contex .  take care   spro   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

In his book, "Corsair", Barrett Tillman gives the following account about Kiwi pilots from an interview with the late Marion Carl.

"Major Marion Carl, the U.S. Marine Corps ace, was familiar with the RNZAF during early 1944.  While with MAG-12 on Emirau he overheard a young Marine pilot returning to base in a shot-up F4U.  More scared than hurt, the American radioed a running commentary of his difficulties, irritating everyone within range.  Finally a New Zealander intoned, 'I say, old boy, why don't you shut up and die like a man?'"

Sage advice.  Have some dignity.

Col. Boyington on Marine fighter pilots...

"The main thing to remember was always to be on top of the enemy before starting to work on him, and never stay on the bottom of one of these heaps any longer than absolutely necessary. In regard to breaking this axiom, I certainly broke it in shooting down a Zero, for I chased him all the way down to the water and was just starting to climb sharply, looking for more targets, when 5 Zeros jumped me. Thank God, there was a small cloud nearby, and about all I could do was keep going in and out of it. Every time I came out; two or three of the Zero's would nail me with lead. Then I would have to execute a flipper turn and duck momentarily back into my cloud again. This routine went on and on until my whole body seemed to become dry. The dryness, starting with my mouth, gradually worked down my throat, then down to my stomach. Finally; despite all the gymnastics I was doing in that cockpit, I got so dry that I had to fumble down to my web belt, get my canteen off and take a drink of water. In the midst of all this some clown up in the sky hollered out over the radio: "Where's the fight?? I wanna get into the fight!" During my thirst and my trouble, I yelled back over the radio: "Jesus Christ, you silly son of a squeak, if you want to shoot Zeros so damn much, come down three thousand feet. I've got five of 'em cornered here."

As I have stated before. IMHO the squeaking in AH is properly modeled. I injoy it thourghly. It reminds me of my time in the RL U.S. Army.

I only object to people who whine about whiners. Its obvious to me that these people are jealous of the better whiners. They should work on there whining skills, and leave the more talanted among us to there labors.

Oh Mama, if we all knew how close to real, in some ways this all is "the squeakin and all", we wouldn't know wether to piss or paint the house. I respect those who get alt, after all its a very big advantage and thats why planes have wings....isn't it?.
Most times I get frustrated is when I do something stupid like rushing in without altitude, speed or a wingman. The best way to feel like you are working for a common goal is to join a good squadron and then you have dedicated support to help ward off evil spirits at over-run bases and keep our country free without that tearfull plea for help.
I usualy ask where I can help and if no one answers then I join another country and shoot at them, over this last weekend our squad went from Rooks to Bishops, you know "instead of squeaken get to switchin" I felt better imeadiatly, my hair is thicker and my teeth are whiter so remember what Gregg Boyinton said "show me a war hero and I'll prove he's a bum".
