New version up (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,379190.0.html)!
Please use this thread to post issues/bugs with the Beta 18 DirectX 9 release of Aces High III. Thank you!

Beta 18 immediately crashes.
EDIT: Furthermore, it gives two crash reports.
-
There is a bug with bloom. Beta screenshots don't work. After trying screenshots in the beta Fraps screenshots wouldn't work either. I got a dx9 driver error for Fraps until I rebooted and started it first. Pics are bloom in the hanger, where it starts buggy and clears up, and the cockpit where it starts clear and gets buggy.

The sun's reflection off of buildings, fuel tanks, ect is way too strong.
Would it be possible to make the GV shell sprites bigger. It is hard to see
if they hit the target long range.
I did see an improvement in frame rates with default settings.

automatically crashes for me
-
The WW1 arena needs to be reset, it's ndisles again.
-
Installed full version after removing the previous version. Same result on startup (immediate crash with two crash reports).
-
I never installed the entire patch 17 full install after auto-updating killed my Beta...what happens if I have DX9 and install the DX11 version (not that I will) but my video card is DX11 compatible or at least by my looking at my DXDiag it appears to be...I'm going to attach my DXDiag...I have to install the full Beta and I need to D/L it whilst I'm here at work...an opinion would be greatly appreciated :salute
Nothing has changed with my computer BTW
-
9 version starts with no problem offline and flew a short sortie with no problem. Went online and got to the tower on craterma with no problems, but did not try to fly a sortie.

Puller,
Full download won't hurt if you don't run it. The download file is an executable as is the patch. So, I would say it would be safe to download it and just wait to see if there are further patches forthcoming before you decide to run it.... Does that make sense to you Puller?
-
Same crash at execution for both DX9 and DX11.
Immediate game crash.
"ahbeta.exe has stopped working"
I uninstalled the last version via Windows before performing the Beta 18 install.
I have Avira, but completely turned it off for download and installation. Tried the update first (fail), then full download (fail). I insured that Avira did not log the usual false positive on the skin viewer .exe file. I performed the download and full install twice (uninstalling in between downloads).

What you just said...No...
What I tried to say was....Patch 17 got broke by auto-downloading from a couple of patches before 17...You quoted me a "download full beta 17" and it should fix it...I never done it though I had the full beta 17 sitting on my desk on a thumb drive...I'm going to delete the Beta and re-install full version 18...my video card shows (to my non-computer guru eyes) that it is DX11 capable...though my DXDiag shows I have DX9...
My question was would it FUBAR my computer if I tried the DX11 version 18 full install...
Sorry...

To run a DirectX 11 application, your computer must be running Windows 7, or later. We have two different games in the Beta 18. One is for DirectX 9 (Windows XP and later), or DirectX 11 (Windows 7, or later).
If you try to run the DirectX 11 version on Windows XP, it will crash.
-
Puller download patch 18 but don't run the DX11 version. Patch 18 comes with both and runs the DX9 by default as far as I can tell.

Beta 18, DX9 version gives immediate crash on my XP system:
Exception code 0xC0000005 Flags 0x00000000 Record 0x000...0 (all 0) Address 0x000...0.
[E8400@3GHz, 8GB RAM, 2GB HD7870, 32bit WinXP sp3]
edit: I doubt this is important, but the crash report listed the Miles sound software as part of the system.

Bloom and Starburst effects are over exaggerated. Shadow flickering for trees and buildings is back with a vengeance versus how stable it was in beta 17. Under some situations where FPS in beta 17 was in the 30's, now they are in the 40's and 50's. Seems to be a combination of rock mass and many objects in a small area. Like a town close to a field or field close to a large rock formation like on my gunnery terrain. NDisles at A1 still has low FPS 20s and 30's sitting in a field gun panning around.
GTX 760 2G, 4096 textures, gamma 1.4, defaults.

Crashed: Ran from desktop icon, resulted in beta stopped message immediately. Repeated running from executable in folder with same result and exception offset.
Exception Offset: PCH_7A_FROM_ntdll+0x0003BBAC

If I remember correctly the ship wake in the skin viewer is a short segment. When the ship is moving the segment is constantly generated. At this time all ship wakes look like dashed lines where the wake segment is only being generated every other rendering segment.
After flying and driving around for about 15 minutes, clicking on quit hangs the game. And the starburst candy colored flowers are everywhere light is reflected as a sparkle. Ugghhhhh......looks like we are playing a Barbie or My little pony game. Kept waiting for Sailor Moon to fly by trailing rainbow sparkles.
