When did the networks think it is a better idea to show the grody players between plays instead of the cheerleaders?

Inquiring minds want to know! :)

Seems like it took forever for college football season to get here.

Now, I have to make sure I savor it, because it also seems like it is done in a flash.

Folks, what are your teams?

I'm hoping that my beloved Michigan Wolverines do well.  :aok

I've seen predictions of 6 wins as well as 10 wins for Tennessee this season, we shall see. If they can get by Florida and Kentucky, they have a decent chance of winning the East. Let's see how this post ages lol.

My Tennessee Vols looked superb. Albeit playing ball state. Still a convincing win. We used to barely win these games. Now we blow them out. Next week should be a proper challenge!

Some good games on tap today. I think objectively, the best matchup is UT at Pitt. I'm also intrigued at Arkansas's game as well as Texas Tech. Is Florida really this good? BYU Baylor has the makings of an embarrassment for the Cougars, in my opinion. Finally, as much as I hate Bama, wouldn't a stomping of Texas be fun?

So far Bama has played poorly. Lots of penalties.

In order

TCU
UT
Wisconsin

I do like the Wolves though and as long as they're not against one of my teams I pull for them.  That said I didn't watch any today as I wound up working most of the day.

That said, mark it, in 1993 and 1994 I bought custom Dallas Cowboys jerseys and they won the SB (don't jack with me if I got the years wrong okay?).  The next year I didn't and they bonked.  The following year I bought another one and they won.  So I have two brand new ones (home and away) hanging up over there *points* so lay your bets down now boys.  I did email Jerry a few times about me being the good luck charm and all he had to do was send me a new jersey every year but he ignored me LOL

Exciting Tennessee/Pitt game.  Tennessee looked a bit rough in spots, but they won in the end.  Go Vols.

I felt bad for Pitt with so many injuries suffered during the game.

Haha, A&M got beat by a school in a mountain town no one has heard of. Always good to see a Texas team lose. Go Neers!!

UT game was way too close as they are far better than Pitt. Going to have to improve before Florida...who lost to Kentucky.

Nebraska now has a job opening for football head coach.

Nebraska now has a job opening for football head coach.

Frost isn't the good guy many folks seem to think he is, especially those from Nebraska.

Remember Lawrence Phillips? The running back that beat up his former g/f and dragged her down the steps by her hair? Frost was banging her and hid in a closet while Phillips beat that poor girl.

The coach at the time, Tom Osborne, repeatedly warned Frost to stay away from other players girlfriends.

Frost is from a small town called Wood River and broke most of the state high school passing records. He chose to go to Stanford to play for Bill Walsh for a perceived better shot at the NFL but Walsh made him a safety so Frost left Stanford and went to Nebraska where Osborne let him play quarterback. Oddly enough, he spent 6 years in the NFL (4 different teams) as a safety.

Rumors abound about his (and other coaches) antics after games at a bar in Lincoln called Gate 25, Cannabis, hookers, bar girls, and heavy bouts of drinking are all part of the rumors. Interesting tidbit, one of the owners of the bar is one of Frost's good friends and one of the folks that convinced Frost to go coach in Lincoln, Matt Davison.

There are reports that Frost's wife has left him and that he's been maintaining an apartment in Omaha.

Frost went 16-31 while head coach in Lincoln and the last 9 or 10 games in a row that were losses were by one score. An NCAA record. He didn't have a single winning season while at Nebraska.

It was a wild weekend of football.

Perennial #1 Alabama nearly lost to unranked Texas.
#6 Texas A&M lost to Appalachian State.
#8 Notre Dame lost to Marshall.
#9 Baylor lost to #21 BYU.
#12 Florida lost to #20 Kentucky.
#17 Pitt lost to #24 Tennessee (Go, Vols!)
#19 Wisconsin lost to unranked Washington State.
#25 Houston lost to unranked Texas Tech.

Nebraska lost to Georgia Southern, and Nebraska's coach lost his job.
Iowa was in another super-low-scoring game (lost to Iowa State, 7-10).
Rutgers scored 66 points in a game.
Bowling Green and Eastern Kentucky game had 7 overtimes.

Nebraska imploded.  Head coach Frost gone.  Defensive coordinator gone.

The weird thing is that they fired the head coach now instead of on October 1st.  If they had waited 2 weeks, it would have saved them $7 million.

No idea what they are thinking. Why bring a new coach on just to get stomped by OU? What is there to lose to give him one more game? Then, you bring on the new coach for Rutgers, maybe start his tenure with a good performance and a win.

God I am mad, big time mad right now. Hard to say if A&M were better, but we definitely made some severe goofs to set us back. I think we had the guy who made the initial fumble recovery stopped, but they let the play continue long enough for him to pass it on to the scorer.

I don't think beating Florida 2 years in a row qualifies a team as being a good team, necessarily. They have been better the past couple years, though. Maybe next season, the Gators can go to Louisville and show them what's up. The good news is, there's no way they lose to Eastern Washington, right?

Couple of good games lined up today. Bama and Arkansas has been circled since the summer, would like to see Arkansas impress after that disappointing loss last week. UK Ole Miss will be good, I am thinking we are going to see just how mediocre Kentucky is. Expecting UGA to win by about 35. State and Clemson may just be the game of the week, but I fear for State. I don't think they are a top 10 team and that will be exposed today.

Well it was a fun 20 minutes anyway. I think Alabama is beatable, they are going to have a tough second half of the season. Hate to see anyone injured, but they were pretty hapless without Bryce Young - all of the points they scored in the second half were essentially the results of three break-away runs for over 70 yard each. Giving up big plays and not being able to capitalize offensively in the red zone cooked us.

Tennessee has a very tough road.  But --

Bryce Young might not be 100% for the game; and Georgia didn't look great vs. Kent State and Missouri.

Nebraska fired their "Golden Child" Scott Frost (that guy disgusts me), named another ex-NU quarterback as interim Head Coach (Mickey Joseph, brother of former Denver Bronco's HC Vance Joseph) who then fired the DC Erik Chinander.

Under Frost we'd likely be 1-4 now instead of 2-3 but we'll see how the rest of the season goes. The game vs Indiana showed promise (NU victory, 35-21) because the players never quit, their on field intensity didn't seem to waver no matter what happened.

The downside? They were penalized 13 times...

Bizarre bad news for my beloved Wolverines.

With about 4 minutes left in the Michigan/Iowa game, Michigan punted.  During that play, two starters on special teams, the gunner and the long snapper, who are roommates, suffered season-ending knee injuries.  They happened at about the same location on the field.  One of them was even an open-field non-contact torn ACL.

That is some bizarrely horrible luck.

I don't follow Nebraska much.  Why do people dislike Frost so much other than Nebraska's win/loss ratio?

Remember Lawrence Phillips? Lawrence beat up his ex-g/f because Frost had been banging her, while Frost hid in a closet... Phillips drug that poor woman down the stairs by her hair...while Frost hid in a closet... Multiple times Frost had to be told to stay away from other players wives/girlfriends by the head coach at the time, Tom Osborne.

He went to high school in Wood River Nebraska where he broke most of the high school passing records and Osborne tried to recruit him but Frost wanted to play qb in the NFL so he went to play for George Walsh at Stanford. After Walsh moved him to safety he pouted and left for Nebraska where he was assured he could play qb.

People still blame him for not winning the national title in 96 due to his poor performance vs Arizona St in Tempe that year. A title that year would have meant four in a row, 94, 95, 96 and 97. Those guys would have been legendary.

Interestingly enough he got drafted after the 97 season and played for 4 teams in 6 years...as a safety... If he'd have stayed with Walsh he'd probably have had a fantastic NFL career as a safety, his loss though.

During his stint at Nebraska there were lots of rumors going around and at least some of them were true, like him being late for practice and hanging out with young women that were not his wife (strippers and prostitutes) at a bar in Lincoln that Matt Davison is part owner of. (SomethingGate, I forget what exactly atm) Davison was a wideout during Nebraska's glory days and he was the one that caught the ball for a touchdown in the Missouri game that year. Except, it wasn't a catch because another player (Nebraska) prevented it from hitting the groud by kicking it up into the air just enough for Davis to grab it. Referees missed that one. Frost and Davison are best friends and Davison ended up as an Associate Athletic Director shortly after Frost was hired.

And to add a few cherries to the top? Frost made $35 million in just over 4 years as head coach with a win/loss record of 16-31.

Personally, I haven't liked the bawstud since he went to Stawnfud and for purely personal reasons I absolutely loathe people that cheat on their loved ones.

More bizarrely horrible luck.

Years ago (85/86 I think) a Nebraska I-back torn his ACL and didn't play again until the next fall. He took the opening kickoff and tore the ACL in the other knee ending his football career.

I quit watching the NFL after the second player strike. Millionaires playing a game for a living and going on strike for more monies disgusted me to the point I lost all interest.

Florida bounced back with a win against (not cupcake) Mizzou. A few calls went their way, but a win is a win. UK proved just how overrated they are against Swagging South Carolina. And Bama narrowly escaped losing to a fairly mediocre A&M. Fun week in the SEC.

Where's all them bandwagon people at this fine Sunday? All I see is orange on my Facebook feed. Also leapfrogged Michigan that spanked a well overrated Penn St. UGA and OSU have played no one.

Sadly, Tennessee will have to beat UGA to get in the playoffs, but Bama will cruise in if they win the west and championship. Oh well, still a pretty fun team to watch, regardless.

Also, Bama lost to Tennessee if you weren't aware.

Any team that gets blown out is going to sink in ratings.

But Penn State is not a horrible team.  Even after the loss, they are ranked #16 and are #14 in FPI, #14 in SP+, and #12 in F+.

They are #15 in team talent composite for 2022, having a bunch of high-ranked players:  5-star RB Nicholas Singleton, 5-star DE Dennis-Sutton, 5-star backup QB Drew Allar, a bunch of guys who will be drafted into NFL:  DE Chop Robinson, DT PJ Mustipher, CB Joey Porter, Jr., RB Kaytron Allen, TE Brenton Strange.

They aren't a top 10 team and that was proven Saturday, that was my only point. They should be ranked and they could wipe the floor with most of the ACC and Pac 12. But, top 10 is not accurate, in my opinion.

True, not a top-10 team currently.

I could see Penn State finishing 10-2 on the regular season, though, with losses only to Michigan and Ohio State.  That could put them back in the top-10.

Vols vs. Georgia.  Go Vols!  :aok

Clemson vs. Notre Dame.  Notre Dame hasn't been that good, but Clemson has looked highly vulnerable.  Can Notre Dame beat them?

Alabama vs. LSU.  Alabama not looking as unbeatable this year, and LSU on a big upswing (from looking quite bad).  Might be more of a game than it seemed earlier.

Bama LSU won't be as close as people think. Bama should beat them easily. If so, they will likely represent the West in the Championship. Sadly, UGA UT is likely the game that decides which one goes to the playoffs. Especially if the winner happens to lose the SEC Championship. The committee doesn't send the best 4 teams, but the 4 teams who deserve it the most.

#13 Kansas State beaten by #25 Texas.
#16 Illinois (and #1 or #2 defense) beaten by unranked Michigan State at Illinois.

#20 Syracuse beaten by unranked Pitt.
#23 Oregon State beaten by unranked Washington.

Title: Re: Get Ready For Some Football

Michigan and OSU still play each other.  The loser of that could move out of top 4.

TCU still has to play Texas and Baylor, and possibly in the Big 12 Championship.  If it loses any 1 of those, it will move out of top 4.

1-loss teams with a shot at getting into the top 4 could end up being Tennessee, Oregon or USC if one of those wins the Pac 12, OSU or Michigan.

But could a 2-loss LSU get in if it beats Georgia to win the SEC?  Maybe so.

Lots of exciting football remains, and hope of my beloved Wolverines vs. the Vols in the CFP still survives!  :aok

Coming back ff the loss to friggin Liberty for homecoming our defense was outstanding this game, if only we had our starting QB I think we could have had had our way with LSU. Our second string QB could not put any points on the board and we didn’t get anything going offensively till it was too late. It sure is deflating to think you have a chance just to have it snatched by a fumble. Feels like the 2011 Sugar Bowl all over again.

Makes it worse as it was against my most hated team.

Yeah I thought we stopped his forward progress at least a half-yard short, he even stepped out of bounds a full yard short. I feel like it ultimately would not have made a difference as we went on to fumble after the eventual punt, but perhaps if we would not have had to use up our three timeouts and get the ball back with more time we could have held them off again.

That linebacker Perkins was the only noticeable LSU player out there and the only reason they won.

The plan is to win the group by running at Harry Maguire and Ben Davies in space. It will be tough go for us, but I think 7 points is possible, and 6 is almost expected.

Objectively, I have no idea how England expect to go very far with that back line. Stones and Dier? Maguire? Coady? Midfield is a bit soft, too. Kalvin Phillips has played a single match in 6 months, Jordan Henderson is a laughable addition, Mount and Gallagher are in woeful form. No problems going forward with the likes of Saka, Sterling, and Rashford. Truth be told, Grealish is lucky to make the squad and I'd have taken Toney over Grealish and probably Wilson, too.

My favorites to win are Brazil and France.

some interesting observations perdweeb.

I had all but given up on southgate and his softly softly defensive approach.   We do have some fantastic players all around but he sticks to his regulars and the bigger clubs.  How Sterling is in the squad I don't know.

I hope he doesn't start with Pickford in goal, whilst he did ok in the Euros he never fills me with confidence, Nick Pope is a proper big old school goalkeeper and could keep us in games.

Slabhead (maguire) will have a point to prove, should have fresh legs and is good at attacking corners.

The heat won't help but a mid season tournament may be an advantage because come the end of season they are usually all knackered.  Inspired by our women's team they know it can be done.   :aok

Excuse my ignorance for not knowing any American players or their manager.   Good luck to them and may the best team win.   I hope they get 3 points over Iran because the whole of the middle east will be cheering for them  :rofl

Maguire is a joke. Saka should start over Sterling on the right. I'm biased to Ramsdale, but Pope is in good form. Pickford plays for relegation side Everton, so I wouldn't pick him unless it was an emergency. But, like you said, Southgate goes with his regulars. Nearly the entire England squad save Stones, Kane, Saka, and Trippier are in fairly bad form right now. Which, will play a part in the mid-season world cup. I'm excited and can't wait.

USA have many Premier League starters:

Pulisic - Chelsea
McKennie - Juventus
Dest - Barcelona
Adam's- Leeds
Aaronson - Leeds
Robinson - Fulham
Ream - Fulham
Turner - Arsenal
Reyna - Borussia Dortmund
Sargent - Norwich

In all, I think we are more talented than Wales and all African/Asian squads in the competiton. Wales basically has a Premier League side, which may be a problem. Daniel James is super pacey on the wing and may prove problematic.

#2 Ohio State won against unranked Maryland, but it was a close game for a long time, and 36 to 30, Maryland ball, with 42 seconds left.
#3 Michigan won against unranked Illinois, but on a field goal in the last 10 seconds to make it 19-17; and lost starting RB to injury.

Maryland is overlooked a lot.  They have great coaching staff and players.  And they can be dangerous team to play against.  The way they play against buckeyes, they should have been playing against Mich, Wic, PSU.  They are not consistent ever game.

Tennessee; what the hell happen?  Few weeks ago they were on top of the world after beating bama.  Then here comes SC to let everybody know that Tennessee are not that great.

TCU; how the bloody hell did they pull that off.  I thought it was over but Baylor just gave that opportunity away to beat them.  Piss poor call by the coach.

Michigan;  got me worried there.  To pull it off but not as dramatic as TCU.  Good that Mich has #1 field gold punter in the nation.

Georgia; Kent state, Missouri and Kentucky.  Three unranked teams that UGA play and won but not like #1 ranked team.  I still question if they are that strong.  We will see when LSU comes to town.

Next week.  The game.  As you know I am a buckeye fan and always enjoy the match up.  It’s hard to say who will win this year.  But I do hope it will be one hell of a game.  Go buckeyes!  Go blue!

Michigan is down its #1 and #2 RB's (Corum and Edwards), its #1 TE (Schoony), its #1 edge rusher (Morris), its #1 returner (Henning), its #1 LG (Keegan).  I'm hoping those guys are healthy enough for The Game.  After the Illinois game, Michigan fans' worry level increased greatly.

Ohio State is a great team, with an amazing roster of players.

And Ryan Day is a very good coach.

We can see this because -- even after a loss in The Game -- the football world judges Ohio State to be #5.  And I think many people would bet that Ohio State would beat #4 USC and #3 TCU.  Day's OSU record so far is 45-5 (9:1).  Saban's Alabama record is 7:1.  Dabo Swinney's Clemson record is 4.2:1.  Lincoln Riley's Oklahoma record is 5.5:1.  Urban Meyer's OSU record is 9.3:1, but includes the years Michigan was having enormous problems.

The thing we are seeing in these past two years is that Harbaugh has built Michigan into a program that is competitive with Ohio State again.  It feels drastic because of the total domination Ohio State enjoyed for so long.

As some teams in the Big 10 become better, there might be years of upsets.  And the Big10 is gaining USC, probably UCLA, and maybe others.

But Ohio State and Day are formidable.  No team in college football can play them and take it lightly.

Here is issue with Day.  45-5 record might be impressive on the surface but what dose it look under water.  Most of the wins are against weak teams.  When he faces teams that are close to or equal talent he loses. Only one big game at 4 years as head coach was against Clemson in 2020.
He has massive talent players yet he never maximize that talent.  He just like John Cooper; too conservative, can’t make adjustments and routinely gets out coached, relaxed when they have the lead then panics when loosing it and team are indiscipline on the field.
Day is a good coach but not head coach material.  Especially for a power house team like OSU.  He would be better off coaching Rutgers or Purdue where he could average 7-8 wins a year.

I do recall Harbaugh got a lot of flack for a while.  MU fans wanted him out.  Even I question how he was still head coach when buckeyes kept beating them. He stood his ground making his argument why he still head coach.  He brought back Michigan, which I am glad.  It brings the excrement in Big10.  I hope they keep that momentum in the playoff and win NC.  Georgia not that impressive this year neither is SEC.

Why USC and UCLA want joined the Big10.  It’s silly to me.  Yes, it does bring in more strong teams into the Big10 but they are better off in the PAC 10.

The Big10 western division teams needs to do better.  Wisconsin and Iowa always a favor and threat to OSU, Mich, PSU and MSU.   But lately they have been weak.  Sometimes illions and Purdue have their years.  Then there is Nebraska.  The one only team in the far west that gets ignore; like they do not fit in.  Still dreaming of the Tom Osborn days.  Huge fan base,  lots of talent but just can not get the right coach for the job.  Maybe Urban Meyers should take that job and change that program around.

I do have some sad news to report. I do keep an eye on Twitter, and got confirmation that Luke Fickell is leaving UC for Wisconsin. I was in utter shock of this happening.

Dam.  He put UC on the spot light last year and had one hell of a season.  Sorry to see him go, if true.  Wish him the best of luck at Wisconsin and we will see how things are going in three years times.

Big Ten is weak aside from 2 teams and an occasional Penn St and Wisconsin. 45-5 doesn't mean you fire the coach. I feel sorry for you that your team lost a game this season, how awful that must be. The coach did not give up 20 points in the 4th quarter. Michigan is just better, deal with it.

He was out coach by a team with equal talent.  And past lost showed the same.

And yes, they can fire him if he does not met the requirements as head coach under writing contract with the university.  Winning seasons or not.

When he faces teams that are close to or equal talent he loses.

When you are ranked in the top 5, there aren't many teams of equal or higher talent.  The number of games there is a small sample and will have large variance.

Quote
I do recall Harbaugh got a lot of flack for a while.

Yep -- for the same sort of reasons you list for Day.  It was:  can't beat Ohio State, can't beat teams of higher ranking, can't beat good teams in away games, lose too often to Michigan State.

I think it's better to look at it statistically and practically.  I thought Harbaugh was doing a good job and trying appropriate adjustments to improve things each season.  Also, who was Michigan going to get who is better than top-10 (as measured by winning %) Harbaugh?

Many teams fire coaches to get someone better, or have a coach leave, and find out a harsh reality:  getting a top-10 coach is sort of a crap shoot.  Nebraska, Auburn, Miami, Florida State, Tennessee, USC, Michigan, to name some blue-blood programs, all know this the hard way.

I doubt that Ohio State is going to fire Day any time soon.  But if they do, they might find out what can happen if you fire a 45-5 coach in an attempt to get someone better.

There is waaaaaaay more money and media exposure in the Big 10 than the Pac 12.  For example, the Big 10 just completed the biggest media deal in the history of college sports:  $7 billion over 7 years.  And they share it roughly equally among the schools in the Big 10.

Quote
The Big10 western division teams needs to do better.

The Big 10 will get reorganized when USC and UCLA join.

Big Ten is weak aside from 2 teams and an occasional Penn St and Wisconsin.

Big 10 west particularly has been in chaos this year.  Wisconsin imploded.  Iowa's offense fell off a cliff, and the head coach isn't hugely motivated to change it.  Illinois, though, has made huge improvements.  In the Big 10 east, Michigan State imploded.

I'm not sure the best way to judge strength of a conference.

By number of teams in the top 10, currently:

SEC, 3
Big 10, 3
Pac 12, 2
Big 12, 1
ACC, 1

By median SP+:

conference, median SP+
Big 12, 12.5
Pac 12, 11.25
SEC, 11.15
Big 10, 8.2
ACC, 5.5

Big 10 is in a state of flux.  Currently #2 Michigan, #5 Ohio State, and #8 Penn State are good.  But as mentioned, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Michigan State imploded.  Wisconsin and Nebraska just hired new highly regarded coaches, so we'll see how they do.  Illinois made huge improvements this year.  #4 USC and #17 UCLA are joining the Big 10.  We'll see how it goes.

Really struggling to explain to myself the new top 4 here. They really think USC and TCU are better than the likes of Ohio State or Alabama? I leave Tennessee out due to the injury to Hooker. And I feel like even a mediocre (lol) Alabama team is much better than USC and possibly TCU. It really just ends up sucking for the tournament because whoever gets the 4 spot will get obliterated by Georgia. And frankly Michigan should blow out USC or TCU. I get that nobody wants to see the same four teams in year in and out, but this isn't like NCAAM BB where the point isn't the top 68 teams. This is supposed to be the best 4...the best of the best.

The CFP committee seems primarily to rank just by how many losses a team has.

Then, as a second, lesser pass (or to rank when # of losses is the same), they tweak it based on personal judgement.

In 2024, it will go to 12 teams.  I think I'll like that better.

There sure are some big differences between rankings such as SP+, F+, FPI and the CFP.  Ohio State, Alabama, and Tennessee are ahead of TCU and USC in those.  And there are some even-bigger differences.  8-4 Texas, for example, is #20 in CFP.  But it's #6-#7 in the stat-based rankings.  Texas does have a lot of good players and probably can be good.  I only watched one game this year, and they were hoooooooorible.  But it was the Texas vs. TCU game, and TCU also looked horrible in that game.

There is so much game-to-game variability that it's hard to know other than playing a game and seeing how it goes.  And even then, if you ran 10 games, the average outcome could be way different than that one sample.

However it's done, though, I sure like watching college football.

I agree - and it is that mentality that I think is bad for the CFP. Can we really say USC is better than Ohio State? Absolutely not.

I'm excited for 12 teams because it means better competition at the end of the year and it also gets rid of these dumb inclusions by way of allowing those 'fringe' teams that aren't actually fringe to go out and make a statement.

It seems like recently every year there's a cupcake that makes it (Cincy, Notre Dame x2, I remember a Washington year) and it just makes for a bad game.

For me being a Cincy fan, we have had some decent season, but the NCAA always threw us to the wolves. When Fickell was here, we had a great team, now that it is over I think UC will be mostly a once in a blue moon team.

Flying in to Indy today (Friday) for the B1G Championship game. Expecting the worst, hoping for the best. I've seen Purdue upset top 5 teams in person... OSU many times, Iowa a couple of times recently, Michigan State last year.  The OSU wins were probably the highest quality of them all.  Never underestimate an unranked Purdue against a top 5 B1G team.

That said, we don't have a Rondale Moore or David Bell this year, i.e. a guy who's the best player on the field despite all the other team's talent, like we've had in past years.  Our QB is worse than David Blough was (who beat Ohio State in 2018), but at least the game will be indoors. Aiden O'Connell seems to get far worse in poor conditions, especially wind, so an indoor game will give him a chance. But we'll need basically an Appalachian State - like repeat from Michigan of taking us lightly while we play the game of our lives.

Pretty sure the Big Ten is changing how teams are selected to go to the B1G Championship game in a few years, so this will probably be Purdue's only visit to the game for a long while. That's why I'm suffering the expense to make this trip. It will get boring seeing Michigan and Ohio State play in back to back games nearly every year if things don't change. Do we really want that?

Way to go, BoilerDown!

O'Connell is pretty good.  Chuck Sizzle is very good!  So is Crazy Legs.  And Paine Durham is an excellent tight end.

Don't underestimate a Boilermaker when football is on the line.  ;)

Michigan will have to play well.

I'm a Wolverine.  But I'm happy to see Purdue get in there and very much looking forward to seeing the game.  Michigan and Purdue haven't played in a long time.

And then follow-on effects on other bowl games.

IDK,  I think TCU can handle all tree.  It won’t be easy but i give them at least two of them they can beat.

Michigan vs TCU:
Michigan should beat TCU but the defense better keep an eye on their QB, Dugan.  Guy plays like he dose not give two toejams who he is up against.  He is a pistol.  A firecracker that suddenly explodes without notice.  Michigan wins by +14

UGA vs OSU:
I will still stand my ground that UGA is not this dominate team out of SEC that nobody can not beat.  They had a few games that they should have won big end up more of a struggle.  I would and will cheer for my buckeyes, However, Day 6 losses are to teams that are equal or ranked higher.  He will be out coached by UGA.  UGA wins by +22

The Liberty Bowl was an accurate representation of our season: We played the first half like a team that has won six games, the second half we played like a team that has lost six games. Combination of poor plays get away from us, bad calls go against us and Kansas getting into rhythm with their passing game kept them alive when they should have been crushed by the fourth quarter. Transfer portal hit us hard, I was pretty concerned we would be too distracted and lightly armed to perform well. Just stoked that that the winning side of our split personality prevailed!

The current NIL is definitely not what was sold to us in the beginning, but the current transfer rules are a major problem also and basically equate to free agency.  Things will need to change or the sport will die.  I know no one who likes the current format.

Should have for sure been Ohio St. Vs UGA in the final and it should have been Ohio St. Vs Michigan and UGA vs TCU in the first round. They totally screwed that up and it created this ridiculous blow out game. I was sorta surprised it was this bad. I expected TCU to put up some kind of fight after beating Michigan. I don't think anyone expected this bad of a blow out. Probably the worst blowout of any bowl game too. I'm sure the "leaders" of College Football are scratching their heads in embarrassment. Sorta feel bad for TCU. Could you imagine how many pep talks they had to build up for this game only to get rekt. Bet those dudes are having a tough morning.

I'm calling 2 upsets this wildcard weekend

Seahawks by 4 over SF and Giants over Vikings by 7.

Would like to see Geno win it all, I'm also kind of rooting for the Vikings as well.

But I don't think either will happen.  :D
