Title: +1/-1 button?
Post by: killerdude8 on November 02, 2011, 05:55:53 PM
We should have a +1/-1 button for forum topics so at a glance, the higher ups can see what wish/suggestion/request is most popular at the time, therefore allowing them to easily decide what should be added or improved next.

Add onto it if you want.   :salute  :D

Sounds like a good idea. Would be a nice feature if we could also +1/-1 individual post too.
So I'll give this wish a +1.  :aok

i like the idea but the problem is there are ppl who would click -1 because its a bomber and they want a fighter and vise versa not to mention alot of good ideas could be rolled over(such as a new strat system) because ppl would rather more planes

that's pretty much the point of the +1/-1 buttons, to get feedback from the community. whether its negative or positive, But i DO see where your coming from and i believe IF this ever gets implemented the HTC team will figure out an effective system and what not.

Doesn't matter if there are a lot of "-1's" administered, it's still all relative. The thread with the least amount of "-1's" would be the top thread in that case.

What is this, Facebook?

Make them post their opinions.

-1 on the +1/-1 suggestion.

Um..   I'm not sure how facebook got involved here, but it is completely irrelevant to my idea, in fact seeing all the "+1's" all over the place inspired it. i thought maybe things would look a bit cleaner if we had a button at the top so people can anonymously vote on something, but.. oh well its your opinion and your entitled to it so i wont argue.  ;)

Or we can just get the ability to make polls. This way you can have a clear +1/-1 number without reading though the whole thing, would help with ~10 page topics.

The reason why I said it is because this feature already exists on the forum, it's just disabled. It would be a lot easier to add.

+1 BTW

    * Step 1: -1/1 = 1/-1

    * Step 2: Taking the square root of both sides:(http://www.math.toronto.edu/mathnet/falseProofs/fallacies_hlimgs/image24.gif)

    * Step 3: Simplifying: (http://www.math.toronto.edu/mathnet/falseProofs/fallacies_hlimgs/image25.gif)
    * Step 4: In other words, i/1 = 1/i.

    * Step 5: Therefore, i / 2 = 1 / (2i),

    * Step 6: i/2 + 3/(2i) = 1/(2i) + 3/(2i),

    * Step 7: i (i/2 + 3/(2i) ) = i ( 1/(2i) + 3/(2i) ),

    * Step 8: (http://www.math.toronto.edu/mathnet/falseProofs/fallacies_hlimgs/image26.gif)

    * Step 9: (-1)/2 + 3/2 = 1/2 + 3/2,

    * Step 10: and this shows that 1=2.

   Blah Blah...

Is it because there are no ± signs after you square root during the second step?

I'm +1 for the idea. As said, "clean" way to put in all the +1s. This way we won't have the post with just "+1." People who are +1 click the +1 button and do not further clog the thread. Quick way to view the public's reception to the wish. This isn't about Facebook or popularity or even youtube comments for that matter. God forbid we get the ability to click "+1" on individual comments, because that would result in a lot of (I will omit names here but you all know who) "ankle humping." Good idea. Not trendy, just practical...

20 people on the forum clicking "+" doesn't change a bad idea to a good idea, or vice versa, and we've seen from the aircraft polls that the AH community, defined as those flying in the arenas, doesn't vote the same as the much smaller AHBB community.

Considering whether or not an idea is "bad" or "good" is in the eyes of the beholder, I still see no problem. This merely makes it easier to support or oppose a wish in a simple format. Many replies to posts are ambiguous to their position - even some people just like to chime in for the sake of chiming. Where's the +1 button for this thread? I'd have already clicked it.
Title: Re: +1/-1 button?
Post by: FLS on November 03, 2011, 11:14:33 AM
I don't believe that supporting or opposing an idea makes any difference. Therefore I don't believe there's any point to making it easier to support or oppose an idea. If you have something to add to the discussion I believe it's best to explain your reasoning. If you have nothing to add there is no reason to post.

I have nothing against useless posts other than it wastes a bit of time for Hitech.

+1/-1 makes it easy to see if a thread is even worth opening.  :O

Is it even possible with this bulletin board engine?

so say the 165 ppl that have read this post only 2 click +1 and 163 click -1(because they want aircraft) so this will have a terrible rating and most likely go ignored for awhile....and there is no real way to stop that except trusting ppl.....scary thought

and also its not so much about the idea of a wish its what the wish generates convsersation wise and where the thread leads more so then the wish its self

it equals 25 given the 100 = X.

100 is not a variable. There are no variables in the statement.

100 = 4. It's all perfectly logical if you were following his pattern in the previous post. It's in fact extremely logical, and used for logic in many difference uses/applications.

I don't think they can do that on this forum...

THIS very old version of SMF didn't support such things... and on top of that - they don't have the luxury of changing things since this is a FREE FORUM bases on a FORUM HOSTING SITE...

Actually we make a lot of changes.  Not hard to do.  The age of SMF has little to do with whether or not something can be changed.

Not only is it not my call to make, but I have absolutely zero input on it.  Personally, I do not see the point in it as anything that makes it into the game is ultimately HiTech's decision and he does read this forum.  So if the idea has merit, in his eyes, then it might make it to the game regardless of any other external influence.

That is just my thought on it and it carries absolutely no weight.
