***A repost of the mission since the thread is one of many that has disappeared on the bbs.***

Zipped folder contains 2 items:
Raiders.mis file--place in your AHII->Offmiss folder
.wavs folder--place in your AHII->missres folder
Map: missn2, found here:
http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/5/12/1908773/missn2.zip
Here's the mission group:
http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/5/12/1908773/Raiders%20mission.zip
Contains 2 missions:
Axis-Raiders of the Rising Sun
Allies-At all costs

Very nice USRanger, I had a lot of fun flying this mission and the terrain was beautiful. :aok
-
Sorry, I am lost.
I see a missn2.res file and a missn2.fld file. Where do those go?
In the other zip folder I see an upper case Rising Sun Raiders folder, where does that go?
I placed the lower case rising sun raiders folder in the offline missions folder of AH. That is the only 1 of 4 I knew what to do with. :)
Thanks in advance. :)
-
Both the missn2.res & missn2.fld files go in your AHII->AHTERR folder. The .res is the map and the .fld is so the fields are assigned correctly.
The Raiders.mis goes into your AHII->OFFMISS folder. That is the mission.
The Raiders folder that contains all the .wavs goes into your AHII->MISSRES folder. It's all the "special effects" needed for the mission. Place the entire folder in your MISSRES folder. Like so:

Trying again. :)

CDT both times I have tried this. :(
Will download again later and give it another shot. Looks like a good mission Ranger. :) :salute

It's a great one daddog
-
daddog, I was having this same problem.
If your Aces High files are NOT installed in the usual C:/Program Files/whatever folder, then what you need to do is to copy the path of where they actually are installed.
Then, use a text editor (I use Notepad because it's easy and it works) to open up the ".mis" file. Scroll down until you see an "EVENTS" bit, and you'll see there's a file path under that (which will be the default path for where Aces High is installed). Then, open up the "Replace" thing, and type in the first few bits of that file path you just found, and then replace it with the appropriate bits of YOUR AHII installation. Once you've done that for the whole file, just save, close, and it should all work.
Hope this helps, sorry if it's a bit long-winded.

Daddog, is AH installed in your D: by chance?
-
I finally got it to work...
I had to create a missres folder in my AH directory, there was no folder of that name in my program. When I did that and moved the files that were supposed there into that folder the mission worked like a charm.
Really a neat mission USRanger. The music and radio really added a new touch to the game experience. I hope you have a number of missions that you are going to create dancing in your head. This was really a neat experience.
Greg
PS> Thanks Yossarian for your help on getting the files where they should go.
-
Thanks Yoss! That did the trick. :)
Correct Ranger, I had it on a drive that was not my "C" drive. :)
Fun mission! Well done sir! :) :salute
-
fun mission - loved the music addition
But with my crappy vid card it is quite a strain on my end
Bwet it looks great on a top end machine

That was the best mission I have ever flown. Thanks.
-
Well thx :). I've got another one almost finished that I think is even better. Same map, but on the winter terrain side. Russians vs. Germans. Has all those extra goodies also, but I think the action is even more intense. I haven't counted em up, but it's around a 50 vs. 50 fight with around 3-8 planes per side ever making it home. The mission has been finished, it's just taking me a bit to get the time to place all the add-on goodies in there.

WOW!
USRanger that is fantastic! You have added a work of art to the game, no words to describe what a fabulos job you have done here.
Well Done! :salute keep up the great work!
Don

Thanks fellas, I appreciate that. It was my first mission, so it was a learning experience. I"ve got more ideas, just gotta get the time between work & kids to get em done. I have one almost ready for release. Anyone who enjoyed this mission should it check out when I get it out there. Same map, so it will only require the mission download.

Ranger,
Your sounds are awesome,
Your missions, fantastic. Im glad your part of the AH community.

Awesome work Ranger :aok
I've been using the map for LAN games with my Grandson.
He's amazed with your work.

Mission is a blast, especially with icons off. I had to turn the ack leathality waaay down. And when i flew in bombers the invisible enemy planes shot me down, anybody find a fix for that yet?
I look forward to your next missions.
With icons off i found myself getting into situations that you hear wwII pilots describe. Escorting buffs, got into a fight with p38s that ended up on the deck. Got seperated from everybody, spotted a friendly fighter flew too him except it wasn't friendly. Good thing I approached from his low six. P39s look like green zekes untill you get pretty close, especially when you think that the enemy is only flying p38s.
-
As it is now, only a certain number of AI can show up at once. I don't know the exact number but I'm guessing 30-50. In my next mission I'm finishing, the plane sets are better spread out to help take care of "phantom" planes.
-
Hey Ranger, very cool. :aok
Just wanted to re-mention the below instructions though. When I tried your mission last night I would constantly crash to desktop. I did the below fix, and it worked great! (except for the invisibile planes :furious ). I think the instructions might need to be added to the Wiki?
Very cool mission, and I like the little touches. Thanks!!

Thanks, Knite. I've added that to the wiki (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/wiki/index.php/Raiders_of_the_Rising_Sun_(Offline_Mission)#Installation_instructions) now.

I'm not sure about this, one mission I made (it's on the Wiki), has over 100 missions, and I don't recall any problems with phantom planes.

I think, and correct me if I'm wrong, the 'phantom' planes are appearing out of their spawn points. In Raiders the bombers pop onto the scene shortly after the fighters show up typically to my 6 or 7 o'clock.
-
USRanger when I try to extract the miss2 file it says no files to estract, can you help please.
-
I just downloaded it and it worked fine, so I'm not sure why it didn't work for you. What are you using to extract it?
-
Outstanding Ranger :aok All those 38s lined up 4 abreast and the bagpipes....wow! Once again have you increased the enjoyment level for me in AH2. ThankYou :salute
-
Seems like it would be a good mission but i can never finish it...
About 2 mins after take off everytime at the same spot my Aces High just closes. I have yet to figure out why, any suggestions on what to do?
-
Try shutting down any un-needed background programs that may be running on your computer. There's alot of stuff going on and the mission may be over working your ram and or processor. :salute

RMrider, try the instructions listed on the first page of this thread by Yossarian. I had the same trouble until i tried this. It's been added to the Wiki too.

Thanks guys, ill tinker with it, because all my other missions work this one just doesnt want to go 5 mins into it.
-
If it's always crashing at one specific spot, I'd suggest manually deleting the mission files (.mis and the resources) then re-downloading and installing again. Could be a corrupt sound file, for instance.
-
yea thats true because it fails at the same spot, about 1 m 30 sec off runway.
Thanks.
-
Hmm, which drive do you have AH installed on?
-
my C:drive
-

Thanks.
Might have something to do with a video overload - my card can't handle the total amount of planes in the sky at the same time - i get major skipping - warping - i know it is because of my cheap vid status - it sure looks cool though
Great mission

I would say that might be the reason but this is a brand new very expensive computer that runs like a charm. I would be surprised if thats why, but hey who knows.
-
Do you have the folder containing all the .wavs in your Missres folder? Refer to the pic on page 1 of this thread.
-
You know i believe i saved everything correctly but i swear i couldnt find the missres folder. I have Vista so its different then say my fathers computer, all his files are under the Aces high main folder. I dont know where to find the missres folder. :(
-
If it's not in your AHII folder, create it, name it missres, then drop the folder with all the .wavs in there. You'll be good to go after that. This is the second time I've read someone say they didn't have the missres folder. I thought it was with the last AH update and don't remember having to create one myself, but I may be wrong. Anyway, do that and you should be all set. <S>
-
Thanks Ranger thats a HUGE help, let me try it and ill let you know if it worked. :aok
Thanks Ranger that did the trick. VERY cool, love the special effects. Couldnt get very far though, died one hit to puffy ack. :uhoh
Will try again after i eat something, Thanks again. :aok
:salute
EDIT: Any suggestions on how not to get killed by puffy ack? third time trying, i try to stay above and a little in front of main group and puffy still takes me out. :cry
-
I know that he edited his map and toned down the puffy ack so he could fly a zeke through and not die from it....I dont know why you are getting so much puffy ack.
:salute all

Yea, my Zeke is getting torn apart. kinda sucks
-
Load the map offline. On clipboard, go to Options->Arena Setup->Environment->Arena Settings. Scroll down til you see Ground Auto Lethality[Armored]. Highlight it and hit the Change button. Change the setting to .0001. Puffy ack will no longer hurt you, it will be just for immersion effect. Turn down the Ground Auto Lethality[Hard] also to not take damage from auto ack if you want to do so. Then start the mission. <S>

Find a host for your epic Ranger?

Thanks ranger, appreciate it. :aok

I just copied this from the AH wiki page (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/wiki/index.php/Raiders_of_the_Rising_Sun_%28Offline_Mission%29 (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/wiki/index.php/Raiders_of_the_Rising_Sun_%28Offline_Mission%29)):
Installation instructions
Terrain: both the missn2.res and missn2.fld files go in your Aces High II\ahiiterr folder.
Mission file (in the mission zip): the rising sun raiders.mis file goes into your Aces High II\offmiss folder.
Non-default install location: If your Aces High installation is not in the default location (which is C:\Program Files\HTC\Aces High II\ ), you will need to edit the rising sun raiders.mis file. Find the Aces High II\offmiss\rising sun raiders.mis file in Windows Explorer and open it in a text editor such as Notepad. Now do a replace (Edit > Replace in Notepad), changing each C:\Program Files\HTC\Aces High II\ to match your install location. Now save the rising sun raiders.mis file. (Note - this is a temporary workaround only; this step will not be needed after a future Offline Mission Editor release.)
Sound files (also in the mission zip): The Rising Sun Raiders folder that contains all the .wav files goes into your Aces High II\missres folder. Place the entire Rising Sun Raiders folder into your missres folder, so the .wav files end up being in the Aces High II\missres\Rising Sun Raiders folder.
missres folder: If you do not see a folder named missres inside your Aces High II folder, make a new folder there and rename it to missres before copying the sound files in as above.
Run the mission: As with any offline mission, run Aces High, choose the terrain first (missn2), then go to Offline Practice and select Practice Missions. You will then see the missions available, with various options.

A sequel to this is in the works. The story continues...
