Title: Midwest Winter Storm 2019
Post by: AKKuya on January 12, 2019, 08:38:53 AM
Here in Columbia, MO, we have over 12 inches of snow and more to come.  Power out in some areas and roads not cleared.  My living room looks out onto I-70 and traffic is good around 50 to 60 mph for best guess.

Last year, Elon Musk made an announcement that his company was going to manufacture personal flamethrowers at around $500.  Turns out that was a little joke.  I was disappointed.  I had plans to get one and when the white stuff fell from the sky like this.  I was going into the snow melting business.  That would have been a lucrative racket.  People would pay lots of money to see that done.

For those who are affected by this, stay safe and inside.  :salute

We currently have about 40 cm of snow on my yard and 621 customers without electricity in the entire country, mostly on the upper west coast. -3 below freezing point. Roads cleared. Normal winter conditions.

The heavier stuff went farther north and west of here then forecast. Was supposed to have 8" by now but its 5" and I dont expect to see any extra even though its still in the forecast. 35 degrees here and its already starting to compact and melt away on the roads.

EDIT - Some of the winter storm warnings south of here have been cancelled. Expect this county to cancel early also today

The largest prediction I saw for our area was 3-4" but nothing so far in North Central West Virginia.

I'll say this again.... all these predictions for a hard winter, I would be happy if they could just get tomorrow right.
