They said he died peacefully at home from an unknown illness that he had suffered since 2022.

You know that makes me mad. Celebrities try to hide their terminal diseases. We have every right to know. And it's not like we won't find out anyway eventually.

Your wrong gg, the public has NO RIGHT to know someones illness issues. While like you I might like to know, it certainly is NOT a Right.

When you choose to be famous you forfeit all rights to privacy, sorry.

Seriously?

People really feel themselves entitled to know all the details of the private lives of celebrities?

Wow. Just. Wow. How utterly pitiful.

If you value your privacy, the solution is simple; don't become famous.

What's the criteria for being famous? Activity on a world wide public forum, digital or live? On more than one forum? Running a public forum? Running a company? Raising a charity fund? And how widely do you have to be known? Rurally, state-wide, nation-wide, worldwide? And so on and so forth.

Jimmy Buffett's name rang no bell so I googled for him, noticing he was a singer-songwriter for quite a long time. None of the pieces on his "eight list" rang a bell. It's not only me, the Finnish Wikipedia only listed his discography, notified as a stub which means he was a local celebrity. Nation wide, maybe, but not world wide. Agreed, he got wealthy enough to give his face to several business and charity organizations but his passing does not change how they continue working. Very likely he was a nice guy and a good person and also a millionaire but that doesn't make his life public. If you disagree, based on the first paragraph there's quite a many people here who are "known" by people they don't actually know - which in my books is a sign of being famous - so an announcement of their health and other private information should be required. Or?

That's a fair statement, but to say "we have the right to know" is really dumb.

Simplified, if you're known and recognized by people that you don't know, you're famous. Would you open your private life to them?

Do I have a choice?  The more famous you are the less control you have over that.

Sorry to say there is a empty stool in Margaritaville. Play the I-95 song on the juke box and have a brew.

People don't understand the I-95 song (one of my favs).

You People, like Southern Folk shouldn't listen to it.

It's about about being a Northerner, and driving down South to Florida to enjoy a nice winter vacation - and dealing with hayseed drivers.

Basically, it's about Southern drivers who can't drive (unlike us North Easterners), and the trauma and annoyance about having to deal with rednecks (esp pickup trucks + semis) on the way to Ormond Beach or Daytona.

It's also about dealing with the unavailability of good Italian food too.  One can only stomach so many grits and pee can pies.

Also, what up with the no electric charging stations ?  It's 2023 not 1978!  You know how hard it is to drive a Prius in the South ?

We have no 'right' to know famous peoples private stuff.

Being a nuisance on the road is not geographically based. You find people all over the world who got their license out of a box of Cracker-Jacks.

I don't know if Jimmy went out singing or what song it would have been but I like Richard Belzer's last words.

Certainly a shame! A real musician and storyteller. Sucks to lose such an American Icon. The guy built a legacy on Margaritaville. Listened to some of songs today XM. Really not bad and easy listening.  According to my wife, she found that he died of Skin Cancer. I was thinking cancer myself but that confirmed it. Really too bad. I bet the bars at margaritavilles and in Keywest are crazy right now.  :salute

My all time favorite  drinking  song "Why don't we get drunk and screw" it's a little subtle but I like it!

He died of rare Merkle Cell Carcinoma.

For me, it felt kinda like losing an old friend. He was an icon down here in Florida.
