I have a player who can not get Steam vr to work correctly in Windows 11 any help?

If OpenXR could be made to work with AH it would solve a lot of this. HT and I spoke (or at least tried to--had grandson ack) about it. It basically bypasses all the SteamVR overhead crapola. ATM I'm running a Reverb G2 and I need to run WMR for SteamVR to run AH with that headset. I've tried every which way to get Opencomposite to work with AH but it's a no go. I actually got the dev for that to give it a go and he couldn't either.

You're running "WMR for SteamVR" if you're using a G2, it's a different apphttps://store.steampowered.com/app/719950/Windows_Mixed_Reality_for_SteamVR/ (https://store.steampowered.com/app/719950/Windows_Mixed_Reality_for_SteamVR/). WMR is a different animal so it's not "regular" SteamVR. It's confusing. The Cosmos, however, IS a Steam headset.

Hi, i am the Player with this issue!
I Use a Pimax 8KX Headset since more than a Year, befor a Pimax 5K+.
I had no Problems so far when i was on Windows 10. Unfortunately i must setup the system completely new and switched to Windows 11.
Other Games from Steam run in VR mode.
Scenarion in Windows 10:
Pimax Tool Running in the Background, Startet AC, answered Question if to play VR with yes and all was good.
Scenario with Windows 11:
Pimax Tool Running in the Background, Startet AC, answered Question if to play VR with yes and Steam VR pops up and tells me there is no VR Headset.
If i Install AH from Steam, start ist from Steam with VR it starts, but i can't play with my original Account which i use for more than 15 Years know.
Any Suggestions?

Just a suggestion...
Start steam first, maybe play something else in vr there...
Exit it so you are back in the steam room...whatever that is called...
Then go back to desktop keeping steam going and start AH
See if it sees the vr headset then

Which version of Pitools are you on?

My issue is, I did a fresh install of the game, when you try to open it asks do you wish to use your open vr headset. It does not matter which option I select, the game hangs at a white screen and does nothing. Also, this is not the steam version of the game.

I did a new install as it was not on this pc, I did try and re install after thinking that it was a bad install, no dice.

What I'm asking is--did your Pimax headset work with AH on the previous install? I'm just trying to get at whether a Pimax will even work with AH as I haven't heard of anyone else using one here. I don't have one but I have gone from an Oculus headset to a WMR headset so I know AH works with Oculus, SteamVR and WMR for SteamVR. Pimax is a different animal as it's none of those.

Yes, all Pimax Headsets are compatible with Steam VR. I have other Games that works with Steam. What makes me the Pimax as a gamechanger ist the big FOV and the resolution from 4K per eye (native) on my Pimax 8KX

SOLVED!
Hi,
Problem solved.
I don't know what it was in final.
I did these Steps:
1. I Installed the Direct X Runtime Version i downloaded at Microsoft
2. I Reinstalled Pitool (Software and Drivers for Pimax Headset
3. I Deinstalled Steam VR, Cleared Folders, cleared Registry, Reboot and did a fresh Install of Steam VR.
I'ts looking good! Maybe this can help others too.

I am going to try that next, I am using the HTC Vive Cosmos. I did try the steam version of AH, no dice there either.
