USAAF Planes Must AirSpawn North East. This Air Group will be limited to 1 Squadron of P-51, One Squadron of P-38 and One Squadron of B24. Each Pilot who Successfully Lands at A88 after their mission may Re Launch from A-88 in the same plane type. All those pilots who fail to land successfully MUST re-up in P-47. This includes the Bomber Pilots. The P47 is Not to be used at the Primary Plane.

The USAAF Squadron replenishes after each frame, starting back to full strength.

All Pilots stationed on their Carriers May be Transferred at the COs descretion should their home ship be sunk. In the Event that, as an example, both CVs with F4U-Ds are sunk, they will be assigned to the Secondary Rides.
There are No Life Limits or Plane Limits other than what is available on the ships.

IJN Planes will be available at All IJN Airfields.

Special High Tech Planes will be available in Limited Use. The Germans, knowing they were failing, supplied the IJN with their small production of experimental jet aircraft to prevent the capture of the technology.

The US Knows of the transfer, and is going to be looking for the airfields where these planes are maintained. Should these bases fall, the IJN will lose the availability of these planes.

These planes will be limited to no more than 10 Per Frame, and Only Available at the assigned bases.
ME262 at A5
ME163 at A8
AR234 at A2

All IJN Airfields will be home to the following aircraft.

A6M2, D3A1, KI61, as well as C47, Jeep, M3 and M16s
Ports will have the Jeep, M3, M16.
Vehicle Bases will have the Jeep, M3 and M16.

Specialized high end planes will be available at the following bases.
A6M5b A4, A1, A6
B5N2 A1, A2, A4
KI67 A2, A6
KI84 A2, A3
Nik2 A2, A5

The IJN CO will have the Unique Opportunity to Recruit and Form His Squadrons to take advantage of the planes and airfields. He will be charged with the daunting task of locating and destroying the invading fleet located somewhere out in the Pacific. The CMs wish to allow as much opportunity as possible to apply his or her own strategy to the situation, and use his players as they are needed. Squadrons will be named and provided to the Hosting CM within 48 hours of the start of Frame 1.

The objectives for Operation Downfall are simple.

Per the Graphics available above, Secure Kyushu and establish a foothold on the Island of Japan, reinforce that foothold with the securing of Shikoku, and then simply invade Tokyo.

There is a great deal of territory between Tokyo and Shikoku, and this area is deliberately VOID of pre-determined Objectives. The sole purpose is to allow ample room to manuever, strategize, and determine which approach you feel must be used. There is a strong need to invade the main island and prepare for the invasion of Tokyo. Spend too much time prepping, and the resources may be weakened for the invasion. Hit Tokyo too early and the whole of Japan might retaliate in force.

There is no predetermined outcome, no strategy that is proven wrong or right. The Rules of Operation Downfall are simple. If it is available, use it. No Score, No lengthy body or plane counts. The Objectives are clear and simple, meet them and win.

Sorry Roc,

To late for me :(  I hope this is not a new trend....

It's not a new trend.  It's simply for this event.  I am planning a Very Early US Time event for you all to make up for this.

The problem is, Summer Time.  Noon PST/3EST puts most players that have attended the events at the Beach or Park, or Soccer Games on saturdays in Summer.  The attendance was projected to be Dismal.

I'll do an event where I will be up at 3am My Time to run one at a decent hour for the Euro Crowd, as well as get some Noon PST ones so you can be playing at 8 PM like this one will be for this side of the pond.  Just trying to spread a slight break around for a bit.

For what it's worth, I have offered on several occasions to run Multiple Frames for the same event so as to accomidate everyone on a more comfortable time slot, but I didn't get any takers.

I've also been toying with an 8 frame event, 2 frames per day, Early and Late, sign up for the time slot that you prefer.  Each Frame moves the previous frames damage and occupation forward.

Just letting you know, this move on Downfall wasn't singling out a player group, it was simply taking the Summer Hit and trying to maximize attendance.

On a more lifting note, thanks for the time change Roc. I most likely would not have been able to attend if it were at the 3pm timeframe.

Sorry FiLtH..... even though I will probably still be up then, there's no way I can then concentrate on flying for two or more hours after that.  :(

Dont sweat it ROC, us Euros will just sit tight for this one.

Youll never be able to accommodate ALL time zones, and the last four or five scenarios have been GMT evening - its only fair to make a change..... You even might catch some Asia/Australia time zones early Sunday with this time table.

If i find enough coffee, i might check in as a walk-on :).

Hey Hajo! :)

Allied?     I was kind of leaning towards Axis as I beleive they'll be the under dog but to fly with people I know would certainly make the event more enjoyable.
Let me set up a new account (was not home this weekend to do that), get all registered and I'll email you?! :)

Thanks

I looked and looked Westy but I couldn't find the image of you falling out of your Tony from Cartwheel :)

Maybe they'll give ya an N Jug to go with your old D model from your ETO days.

Westy's Wagon II?

Thanks Dan    :)

Although since my CH gear doesn't work with XP (yet?) and I'm not comfortable with my X-45 set up this is what all of my flights end up looking like right at the moment....

The ASAAF will have 3 squadrons.  They will get a group of B24, P51 and P38.  These will be airspawned to represent the high alt bombing runs that would have occured.

As those flights land, they can re-airspawn for more runs.  Those That Die to being shot down or crash, will Re_Plane and Air Spawn the P47.

Effectively, if everyone in the USAAF groups die on the first mission, there would be 3 squadrons of P47s in the air for the next mission.

Not so bad afterall?

I don't plan on getting dead.
This is the first scenario that I have been in that mentioned Jugs from the getgo. I saw it as an opportunity to "represent" my choice A/C. Just a lil disappoited. I would like to see a choice given....Ponys or Jugs. I don't see that one has an advantage over the other....especially in this context, so I'm having a hard time understanding the whole "primary/secondary" deal.
I don't mean to come off as a b*tch, but I have been looking forward to flying my Jug since I first read the description a month ago.

LOL Dace, you aren't coming off negative at all.  There are people around that you could take lessons from, but you are far from it :rofl

I wanted 3 USAAF Squadrons, for design reasons, there was 3 popular fighters and a bomber need.  So rotated them in.

Bring ideas to your CO, and if he likes the idea he will bring it to the Design Team and we will make a decision.  Design changes are discussed with the people who built the event, the CMs staffing it and Both COs, changes are possible, but there may be more behind the decision than is clear at first.  Explanations could create or tip the hand to strategy, so they aren't always answered "out here"
