Title: P-40N "Rene the Queen"

P-40N flown by Major Donald Quigley, squadron leader of the 75th Fighter Squadron, 23rd Fighter Group. In the summer of 1944, Quigley shot down 5 Japanese aircraft over China, becoming an ace on August 5. Unfortunately, just 5 days later he was himself shot down and taken prisoner. He remained a POW for the remainder of the war. For his service in combat, Major Quigley was awarded the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Cluster, and an Air Medal with Oak Leaf cluster.   

Quigley's P-40 was named "Rene the Queen" after his wife, Irene. It features the iconic shark mouth markings of the 23rd FG, who were established from the American Volunteer Group "Flying Tigers" in 1942.

Photo reference for China based P-40's frequently show evidence of heavy mud deposits on the wing walkways as well as on the underside, wheels, and undercarriage from tire splatter. I have represented those heavy stains on this skin.

Outstanding.  P-40N has become my second ride of late.   Love that poor little plane.
