HTC,
Is there any chance we could get practice carrier traps at the end of regular land runways? This would simulate the ones the navy used/uses for pilots to do before they had to do the mandatory 5 carrier landings.
Would give us a good chance to practice carrier landings without all of the risks right away. The more confident someone gets at setting down in the first 10 feet of the end of the runway and grabbing a wire at the right speed will help when they decide to try the real thing. The added bonus it is a real life thing to have to do before you can try it on a ship.
Would it even be a possibility for a pre 1.05 patch to have arrester gear on the hog work and have the traps?

Excellent idea Rocket! I second this one!
AKDejaVu
Of course.. they'll have to also install arrester hooks on the aircraft (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

They should disable auto take off on carriers. I had a lot of fun, in that other sim, learning to take off in a F4u.

I agree there easymo. Nothing like having to firewall the throttle.. hold the brake. and keep her from sliding off the side of the deck and not over correcting into the tower (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Will the tail of the carrier bob on the swells.?

Back to the top with ya.
HTC is this a doable option or do I need to just let it slide down the ubb list? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

that would be a great idea!!! carrier landings with the deck bobbing and swaying... i wonder if we could have the night again so that we can try to find the phospherant (sp?) alge trail leading to the carrier (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) !!!
something to wish for i guess...

Could we also get a shot of 'medicinal' brandy UPS'd to our houses after a successful combat sortie? THanks!!!

Perhaps if we make a training terrain. It won't be in the main arena terrains. Or perhaps you'll be able to do it yourself in the terrain editor. Don't really know, we haven't gotten that far yet.

If we get a Carrier , does that mean we might get virtual sea sickness?
How about Cyber Barf? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/eek.gif)
Just kidding (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)
I think having practice wires in the training arena is a good idea.
And a carrier group well ………..
I LOVE IT (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Pyro,
I agree that a TA terrain would be the best place to put it. I hope ya guys consider it. It would make guys like me that haven't got a ton of experience in brand W hitting a carrier a great way to practice without the frustration of missing everytime. (I did that a ton offline). I think if a person could get confident hitting a regular runway with cables time and time again then moving to landing on the carrier would be much easier.
Thanks for the reply !
