A buddy of mine bought an Expedition a few years ago to accomodate his growing family.  His verdict: no matter how big you buy, the amount of crap you carry will expand to fill all available space.

Yes.. I know :D  But, mine is for work. Cool thing is It can hold my equipment that some times excced's 6 1/2 ft.

I have a loaner from the dealer :)  So I found out that I can fit a custom grill that is 7ft long in the back and close tha tail gate. So it suits it purpose.  Beats the dinky SportTac I have now, as I hate van's so I guess this it.

A neighbor down the street had a '01 Expedition that they returned under the lemon law.  It  had a big "Clunk" in the tranny when shifting (automatic)  Turns out one of the dealers told me recently that this was the result of an improperly programmed computer chip for the auto trannys (shrugs)

I have 40,000 on mine(my wifes), with no problems.  It is built on the truck chassis, so it is pretty stout.

I've heard that the Explorer is based on the Ford Ranger chassis and the Expedition based on the F250 chassis.

Well... Anything at this point is nicer then this Sport Trac.. I hate this thing..It was one of those. Oh look it's got a bed on it and it holds 4 people.. all I can say is waste of space. I would have been happy with a mini-van. Which I dispise, but hey I had something to pull the boat with :D   Now I'll have a V8 to pull the boat which will make my trip to the coast easzyer. :aok

That is right Rip-and the Ranger/Explorer is assembled on a car line, the F-series/Expedition is made on a truck line.  It may be a fine distinction, but it is an important one.  My Dad bought a sport trac, kept it for about 6 months, but I have never been in one.
