Title: Setup for Nov. 1-6, 2003
Post by: eddiek on October 29, 2003, 08:24:53 PM
Yes, you read it correctly.
The current setup will continue in play until either early Saturday morning, or midnight if I have the energy to redo the arena when I get in from my job assignment.

Terrain:  Mindanao

Setup:  Invasion of the Phillipine Islands

Planesets:

USN/USMC:
F4U-1D
F6F-5
TBM
SBD
C-47

IJN/IJAAF:

A6M5b
Ki-61
N1K2-J (substitute for Ki84 and J2M3)
Ki-67
D3A1
B5N2
C-47

GV's will be, for both sides:

M3
M16
M8
PNZR

USN will have LVT's enabled from the fleets to represent the amphibious landings.
Japanese navy will have ONE CV fleet, all others will be US.
Radar settings, icon ranges, hangar hardness, etc....... will be CT normals.

This setup begins with the US already in possession of a few bases, but the majority of the bases will be in Japanese hands.  The mobility of the carrier fleets can be utilized to offset the larger number of bases in Japanese hands.

HQ hardness will not change, but downtime will be minimized to the max.
Due to player feedback, I will get with the other CT staff and figure out how to keep darkness/nighttime to a minimum.

As I have stated before, this is the start of the setup.  I have before, and will continue to make changes as needed during the week.
I leave for a two day assignment at 4AM Thursday morning, so PLEASE, be civil, and let's don't have a flamefest before the setup even starts?  I will return late Friday night and either get this setup rolling then, or as soon as I get up Saturday morning I will log in and load it and open the arena.
My job will take me away Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, and Sabre has graciously offered to stand in and monitor the arena during my absence.   sir, and many thanks!

Mindanao may be high maintenance for the CM.

What's the hardness of the Carriers and Cruisers?

If it's low enough for a Ki-67 to sink them, then someone may need to jump the TGs on a regular basis (in Mindanao.)

Even then you (and the other staff) may want to rest more and leave it up until the 20th or so. :D

I agree ... at least the A6M5 ..... Key's downright deadly in `em versus all Navy planes.

If the KI-67s are enabled versus no boxed Allied bombers could you perhaps turn formations off. This will discourage the lemming herd attacks on the CVs.

Otherwise anything that includes Hellcats is just plenty fine with me.:aok

After reading other sections of the board I want to make 1 special request. Can you include the FM2? I know lots of us love flying the American Zero. Others enjoy trying to kill em. :D Lowe

Corsair and N1K enthusiasts fly FinRus, Bob, France, Tunisia, etc. and usually don't start grumbling and fidgiting in their seats until at least a month goes by without their preferred enviroment. Can't you make it through a whole bloody week? :D

Went to the CT last night as I tend to do on Tuesdays and was greeted by no formations so I switched countries and again the no formations popup appeared.  I guess you like having a CV parked off the end of your runway.
I took a better look at the map and realized the MA capture thing going on and left.

Didn't they figure out a way to prevent that, by making the carriers easier to sink with shore batteries?

There's ... ahem .... even a way to lock the carriers from player control. No need to make them cardboard. :D

Well yes but it's hard to have an "Invasion of the Phillipine Islands" without player control.  I suppose the CM could set all the TGs running in a circle off the coast.:p

Yup .. there's ways. I'd think courses to get closer then farther and have "windows of opportunity." *ShruG*

Suicide fleet commodores are a pita. :D
