This set-up represents the British night bomber raids over Germany from 1943 - 45.
BRITISH:
Lancaster
B-26 Marauder (Wellington)
Mosquito (Night Fighter/Intruder)
GERMANY
ME-110G (Radar Nightfighters)
FW-190A-5
FW-190A-8 (Wild Sau Nightfighters)
JU-88 (Night Intruders)
MAP: Big Week
The arena would be on FULL NIGHT TIME. No full friendly radar so you would have to make sure who your shooting at.
Radar would be FULL ENEMY to represent radar intercept. You could guide your aircraft to the vacinity of the bombers but then you would have to find them.
Icons would be short or off so you would have to get close.
No Field capture on this one.

.Calm down - it is just an idea. Better suited to an event in the SEA but it would be interesting to try.
FLAME ON!

I am not a big fan of nighttime. I would not spend much time playing if this was the set-up.
Bigweek map is rather ... buggy so would prefer a different map.
I would like to see a bomber war set-up in the CT .. enable all Allied bombers and the escorts. Give the LW all of their toys and lets have at 'er. Use the Germany terrain with the airstarts and save time climbing............
During the day I would fly a B17. At night I prefer the Lanc anyway so would fly it during the brief nightime.

Damn! That sounds just like a scenario I did a month ago that everyone raised HOLY HELL over! Skernsk, you must have been on top of a mountain in TIBET somewhere to have missed the WAIL over that one. :rofl

it wasn't a setup wailfest as much as that specific map wailfest.

It would probably generate a whine apocolypse but it does sound like fun. The Tues/Thurs crowds would be the best time but the arena would probably be a ghost town any other time. Id still like to see it though.

Considering the furball-centric view of most of the players anything that emphasized bombers would be a bust. If they can't get engaged at 5000' 4 miles from a base forget it.
Note that comment about air starts is still a good one. Any map that wants to highlight the bomber portion of the battles should include air starts for bombers.

Nope I was there ... just thought I'd chime in and give my two cents. You did ASK for that correct? Or were you trolling? If you were trolling ... ya got me - heck I was just trying to save you from quitting again.:rofl

It sounds like fun to me:D

i love the sound of it:D

Couple things:
1) You'll have maybe 6-8 on the first day and then no-one in the CT for the rest of the week. If you want to run this make it a weekend only setup and return to day ops (8th AF) on monday.
2) The B26 is so much more capable than a Wellington that it's just not funny. Try a Boston instead. Although I did think Wellingtons were withdrawn from front line service by 1943 anyway.
3) What no 109s? ;)
4) This statement:
"No full friendly radar so you would have to make sure who your shooting at. Radar would be FULL ENEMY to represent radar intercept. "
You're saying friendly radar off and enemy radar as full on? So....like, you'll know the exact (dot) position of every enemy aircraft in the arena and none of the locations of your own? And what's this:
"You could guide your aircraft to the vacinity of the bombers but then you would have to find them."
Er, no you wouldn't, you'd have dot dar to guide you in exactly.
I'd go with full friendly dot dar and full enemy BARDAR, dot dar only within a tower based radar range of, say, 20 miles.
5) How do you turn icons off completely cos the SEA CMs have been wanting this setting for years?
6) I've just been reading "Bomber Command" by Max somebodyorother and have to say that until HTC models Gee, Oboe, H2S, Window, target flare markers, air markers, wind drift of air markers, searchlights, infernos visible from the air and decoy fires laid by the Germans.........the above setup would be like standing in a paddling pool while trying to pretend you're swimming the Atlantic.
But it could be a giggle for a couple days. Wouldn't really want to fly this for a week though.

LOL!
They actually did an event like this as a SNAP SHOT and it was pretty fun. With bar dar only it was aalmost impossible to find cons and you spent most of the time flying around. Wasn't impossible but took alot of looking.
Several did pretty good against the bombers.
