Thks to Crutch at AGW for the article.

The left's near monopoly over the institutions of opinion and information--which long allowed liberal opinion makers to sweep aside ideas and beliefs they disagreed with, as if they were beneath argument--is skidding to a startlingly swift halt. The transformation has gone far beyond the rise of conservative talk radio, which, ever since Rush Limbaugh's debut 15 years ago, has chipped away at the power of the New York Times, the networks and the rest of the elite media to set the terms of the nation's political and cultural debate.

Fox's conservatism helps it scoop competitors on stories they get wrong or miss entirely because of liberal bias. In April 2002, for instance, the mainstream media rushed to report an Israeli "massacre" of Palestinian civilians in a refugee camp in the West Bank city of Jenin; Fox uniquely--and correctly, it turned out--treated the massacre charge with complete skepticism. "We try to avoid falling for the conventional liberal wisdom in journalistic circles--in this case the conventional wisdom 'Israeli bad, Palestinian good,' " says daytime anchorman David Asman. "Too often ideology shapes the tendency to jump to a conclusion--something we try to be aware of in our own case, too."

It's amazing that Republican candidates for congress, state legislator, governor and even the Presidencey were ever able to over come the liberal media bias during their comapaigns and when the majority of these seats.
One would truly believe that with such a pervasive and ubiquitus liberal slanted media which controls and forms the thoughts of the public - it would have been impossible to overcome.
How did conservatives ever get their agenda heard?
Fox News! Who loves you baby!
Thank you almight Fox... you are the voice of reason and the messenger of God! :aok :lol

I hope nobody is championing news agencies for changing sides.

DmdNexus: How did conservatives ever get their agenda heard?
Conservatives don't - at least not in major media.
The modern tax err.. inflate and spend and expand and ban and intervene and protect and subcidise and ignore and amnesty and compromise and lie and sell out republicans are not conservatives.
Republicans may have gotten some media lately but socialists have got republicans even earlier.

A better question is how are the Dems going to BS their way into office now that their 5th column of fellow-travelling intellects has lost its ability to imbed leftist views in news, entertainment, and education without being challenged?

Ok, I'll bite. Please cite the source of that stupendously idiotic statement.
Journalists are educated to question everything, and to take an objective look and get the "facts". Human nature is prone to interpreting facts. CNN and other so-called liberal media outlets tend to have a somewhat liberal interpretation of these facts, while Fox News and it's so-called conservative brethren take a more conservative interpretation.
The truth is, contrary to popular reactionary opinion from both sides, that both sides of the media political fence do make attempts to give opposing views. But often that gets filtered out by the viewer who only hears what he/she wants to hear.
If you ask me, the strongest bias comes from the viewer, when they watch the news. If you happen to agree with their interpretation, then you barely even acknowledge it, because your mind is saying "Well, of course", etc.
But if you happen to disagree with the interpretation, you immediately cry foul and accuse the media representative in question of liberal or conservative bias, perhaps even before they have the chance to present an opposing viewpoint.

anyone who has ever been the subject of a newspaper story knows that the newspaper allways get's it wrong.... why they even pretend to take notes is beyond me... they seem to have written the story before they even talk to the principals. They have a glazed faraway look on their face when you are answering their question unless it is adding dirt.
They lie even when telling the truth would make a better story.... they are scum. I have no respect for journalism. Newspapers are to journalism as mike moore is to documentaries.
