Heard the end is a let down, but it sounded like personal taste rather than unbiased impression. Off to see it.

Revolutions was great. Certainly not the ending I expected, but the story and action was very well done. I remember thinkning to myself "This is INSANE" during one of the bigger battle sequences.
Small funny story --- A friend and I went to the 10:30AM showing of it today. There was a 09:30AM showing also. We are sitting in the theater when a dark-skinned bald guy starts walking up the stairs (theater is stadium seating with entry at the bottom front rows.) Anyway, the guy, aside from being bald, is wearing a long leather coat and sunglasses (Morphious look). :lol
The guy sits down in the row behind me about 5 or 6 chairs to the side. I couldn't help it, so I leanded back and said to the guy, "I'm a little disapointed in you. A true Matrix nerd would have been at the 09:30 showing" <-- What's worse is I was trying to say this just load enough so he could hear, but I ended up laughing out while I said the second sentance and was loud enough for the whole theater to hear me. :rofl
The guy's response, "Well, some of us like to sleep in" :rolleyes:

I just saw it.
Great action scenes, I always have had an exoskeleton-with-automatic-cannons fetish.
The ending is somewhat of a letdown, after all the weird speculations arising from the second film, things are solved in a pretty uninteresting way, and many of the apparently important twists and details are irrelevant at the end.

I'm sucked into the Matrix, just like the Alien movie. The original sci fi ideas were so goood, and so well done, I'll see every sequel.

MT, it's the only major theater chain here in Salem. There are a few independents in the area, but they generally only show older or smaller independent films.

Actually, Regal Cinemas is based out of Portland. There's one major theater in town that is not Regal... A Century Theater. I've heard Century only built it because Regal decided to put a theater in their "home town".

I saw it with the whole office this morning at 7am, cine' capri in Scottsdale.
Some really cool scenes and the story had some good spots, but the battle scenes with the machines was a little overdone and began to get repetative.
I wish they had focused a little less on the battle scenes and little more on the mind-games .
Good movie though, it was entertaining.

The only way this series can redeam itself at this point is if it has starscream decend on earth and rule both the humans and machines. Cause every movie needs some transformer love.

shockwave's gun was totally cooler than megatrons too.

I didnt understand the ending too much, but then i realized something very important --

Yeah, we're well aware of the Biblical references in this and in the previous...there's no need to keep pointing them out.
I, however, enjoyed the movie. Great actions scenes and amazing CGI. It was better than the 2nd. To quote another thread I read about the movie: "It was awesome if you're not an idiot." :D
I've been interested in the Matrix ever since the frist one. Hell, I played Enter the Matrix and watched the Animatrix just to get the full scope of the story. This movie was well done and did what it was supposed to do...finish a story.
And if you felt like you were being brainwashed, then you were watching too hard and paying more attention to all the Biblical stuff strewn about. If you just sat back and enjoyed a hell of a movie it was more enjoyable.

I nearly left pissed at the movie theater during that awful jungle music sex/zion or whatever that cave was, scene in the second one. On DVD I was able to leave the room. I'd like that kind of opportunity with the 3rd one as well.

It was ok.
Lightyears better than Reloaded. Agree that the action sequences were fantastic - but the ending sucked.
The entire trilogy was kind of like bad sex with a beautiful women.
It started out great - you thought it was gonna be the best experience of your life - but the middle part left you almost disgusted - and the end was rather ungratifying... oh well... at least shes nice to look at.
Anxiously awaiting RoTK.

i have to say i was almost po'd when i left the first time yesterday....
then i got to thinking.
remember the first time you saw the original Matrix? how you were speechless after it. you didnt know what to say about it it was so unique and amazing.
it was immediatly "timeless".. in the sence that it occupied your mind (and still does) and you wont just forget "did i see that movie?"
Revolutions had that same affect on me. i went to see it again today.
it has that timeless quality not many movies mad have. it will stay in your thoughts and occupy "braintime" for a while.
oh well another lame thought by yours truly.

Philosophy class in college 1976. One of the thought excersizes went something like this:
If your brain was in a jar and all your experiences were just electronic signals piped into your brain... what would be the difference between that and reality?
In other words, the MATRIX as a concept is hardly new, and the only thing "cutting edge" about the movies is the Special Effects.

Saw it last night with some friends, and we immediately went drinking to try and forget the horrors we'd seen. Intensely bad writing. Acting that couldn't salvage the film from the writing (even if the script was Shakespeare), and pretentious psuedo-intellectual tripe.
Even the battles didn't save this movie, since the dialogue scenes were so unnervingly bad you hoped all the main characters would die.

I was bored stiff by the M2. Those never ending idiotic fights where neither dude can defeat/hurt the other made me decide not to bother with M3.

just saw it with my gf... it's ok....not great. some bits were very funny though.

I thought the funniest scene was when the evil dude ( don't know his name) smashed the oracle's cookies into the wall and began his rants about her knowing everything before hand.
Then he said "cookies need love too"
That was the funniest scene to me. That guy was my favorite actor in the movie.
The actress that played the Oracle was the worst by far.

The first move was mostly science fiction. The second two movies had a little too much myticism, religious overtones, and just plain sappyness for my taste. Neo's was a matrix god at the end of the first movie, a tough guy who can fly in the second, and somewhat tougher guy who can fly in the third. I just didn't like the way the story developed in the last two. I never did buy the fact that the Head Program, the Architect, or whatever, couldn't eventually isolate and destroy any renegade programs or the hardware they reside on. Maybe I just missed something.

Simply garbage. It's like they hired new writers from the professional boxing world. The only thing that really remained constant was the names of the characters.

You know the Frenchman? Remember how he was such a badass in the second movie with like wraiths and werewolves working for him? How did he get taken down by two human and a computer program?
Did anybody wonder where the other side of that train connected to? I mean, one was the matrix... was the other a place where errant programs get bodies and become humans?
Did anybody wonder why the defense of zion wasn't made with emp mines instead of auto cannons? Seems to me that a mix of the two would have worked MUCH better.
In a world where computer programming is the link that dominated everything, why can't humans come up with an electronic fire control system for the cannons on their ships?
Why didn't the machines find a way to send those huge bellybutton city killers after zion? I mean, what are all those weapons for?
There were really only two characters in all of zion that we even remotely cared about (I wouldn't have given it another thought had everyone else in the city died... especially after that dance scene in the second movie). Was it silly, or vindicating that they just happened to be the ones that saved it?
Did trinity take WAY too long to die?
Did anybody look at the fight between neo and smith and think of REALLY bad anime?
How about that part at the end when smith is about to win and he decided to talk about it instead of just killing neo. Wasn't that a little too cliche?
What the hell happened to all the philosophy and mythology? Why was the reason that the matrix so good get so surgically taken out?
I didn't like it.

The Frenchman was in this movie? Are you sure? I remember staring down in the lower-right side of the screen for a few minutes and I thought I might have heard him at that time, but I was thinking of something else at the moment and couldn't be bothered with the rest of the screen.

Didn't think about that. I doubt errant programs would want to leave the matrix...at least not out into the real world.

No. If they built a smart defense, the writers would have had to trouble themselves to come up with a smarter way for the machines to break Zion's defenses. They were too busy smoking crack and watching reruns of the Emeril Legasse show to be bothered with that.

Maybe they have an inherent distrust of computer technology. Maybe they're stupid. Maybe the movie sucked...just maybe. ;)

Why would they need to? They had enough to beat the defenses that the writers wrote in for Zion. Remember, more machines means more writing means less time hitting the pipe.

You cared about any of the idiots in Zion? I hoped for the wifey to die...and found it incredibly amusing that the machines were not able to squash her like a bug when they tried. As for the kid, I think he was transported in time out of a 1950s war movie, replete with his dialogue. I was hoping he would die an especially slow death. "the machines don't care what age I am sir..." Oh man!

I didn't ask him about what, but I'm sorry I won't be able to find that out now. Oh, I have some big spikes sticking through me. And, uh, I love you Neo. " On a funny note, there was a group of die hard Matrix nerds directly in front of us all dressied up for the occasion. One of the guys sitting in the row directly in front of us was actually weeping when she got killed. I poop you not. I thought I must have been imagining it until I confirmed it with my friends after the movie.

By this time in the movie I was crying for the $8.75 admission that I would never be seeing again. Even through my tears it looked like crap. Althought I found the knuckle prints to be quite amusing.

Apparently he's never heard of internal dialogue. One minute he's good ole smug Agent Smith, the next he's a quivering tard. He should have just assimilated him without the *****-footing around.

Neo is Jesus. He is the second coming. I think he died for the machines' sins this time though, they're more deserving than anyone in Zion. And on that note, I'd say it was nice of the machines to ignore logic and not kill the rest of the tardlings in Zion after Neo helped them with their Agent Smith problem. I'm just trying to figure out what comes next. The sequels or the prequil. Like the dip**** that I am, though, I'm sure I'll watch them.

I liked it alot, the love scenes between Neo and Trinity just like #2 (that dance scene) just not needed..... If she hadn't talked for ten minuted they coulda made out for longer! Action scense are just insane!
Enjoyed it, and I think I made sense of all that was going on.

The thing that allllwwaaayyyysss pisses me off is the fact that they leave it open ended and NO epilogue or aftermath explained. I want to know:
1) So the war is over for now... do the machines continue to use humans as batteries?
2) What about reconstruction? Do the humans build a city on the surface or continue to be underground moles?
Three) (some reason the number three key doesnt work on this keyboard): In the Animatrix, the writers explain that the sky was clouded due to small nano-machines in order to halt the usage of solar power. Now, wtf is that? Why can't the machines a) go above the clouds like Neo and Trinity did or b) Frickin take control of the nano-machines and/or "part" the clouds with some neato technology?
Either the Wachowski brothers purposely dumbed it down "for the masses" or they did need more time for the pipe as SOB so elequently stated.
The end fight scene looked a lot like Dragon Ball Z... and I laughed hard at the slow motion right hook on Agent Smith. I'm still a fan of Smith and I wish he won.
Anyone notice the Oracle's earings? Not only were here ears SUPER SAGGY, but they were a yin-yang... representing neo/smith as opposites?
Blah. Beginning sucked, battle for zion had some neat effects and was cool overall... I give it a six out of 10.

Yep. Operation Something or Another... I can't recall the exact name.
If you want some "history" leading up to the fall of civilized human society, then rent the animatrix. It's pretty good, although some of the "episodes" are a little bizarre. I liked it a lot and was worth the purchase. The 3D animation is second to none. It's really amazing how lifelike they make the characters.
The Machine City that Neo refers to in Revolutions actually has a name. It's called "01". It has its roots as a machine refuge. After a machine servant turned on its masters (a household thing) and killed them, a huge "purging" of machines everywhere came about. It almost looked like a machine holocaust... the animations are very similar to scenes from mass graves and concentration camps of World War II.
Anyway, so the machines create this city in the middle east near Babylon. They create their own technology, their own currency, high-tech industry, etc... In an attempt to make peace with the human governments, the machines send ambassadors which look human. The humans detain and destroy them. The battle begins and after many nuclear devices are used on 01, it somehow survives the sheer kinetic energy of the blasts and the machines live on.
The humans resort to blackening the sky using tiny nano-machines as I said earlier. All nations and humans everywhere unite and join together in a very erie apocalyptic battle (ground forces)... which they lose. Humans then = batteries and the matrix comes about.
Now that you know the basic story, go get the animatrix, I enjoyed it :)

They dont say it in the story itself... I watched the commentary and one of the writers/creators explains that they are machines.
