Title: Setup for Friday: Post Operation Overlord
Post by: Mister Fork on November 05, 2003, 08:44:02 PM
It's late June 1944 in France. With Hitlers battalitons repositioning themselves and airfields being pushed back into France, Churchill's invasion has hit a snag.

Resupplying troops have taken most of the air supplies for fuel and ammunitions leaving most squadrons scrambling in England trying to deploy to France.

The battlefield is left with only fuel and ammo for ground vehicles with the next fields providing CAS.  Axis bombers have retreated to the rear flanks while in England, Allied bombers have been delayed from deploying to France.

Heavy Axis He-117 bombers (B-17's) from rear fields in France have proven to be a pain in the side for foward ground units and airfields.

Not to be outdone, the latest fighters from the US and England have been flown across to provide support for the forward fields with heavy resistance to late model Axis Dora and G-10 fighters.  German armour is proving it's superior design against the Sherman's from the US army.  The US Airforce has flown in P-47D-25's and 30's to assist in the crunch with P-38's.

Think about upping the troop capture to 21. With B-17 formations on both sides that's a helluvalotta ordinance available to the 3-6 am milkrun-pork-auger-grab personel that are generally on duty for one side in particular.

Just a thought. Don't nobody hyperventilate now. :D

Had an ISP problem but it's up.

Changes: Due to the distances between fields, I've put planes on the front lines.

Heavy bombers are on rear fields for Axis, and in England only for Allies (fields 1,5,7,8,9,13,25,26,27,29,30).  Mosquito in France though.

Enjoy!

Fork,

I got the impression that there is a problem with your setup. It appears that convoy resupply is either not occuring or is only supply minimal rebuild. Field targets that I hit seemed to be down for 2hrs. Damage done to other fields seemed to have similar effects. You might want to check the map settings for resupply. I could be wrong but...

take a look :)

It is a very good setup, I have flown there whole weekend with couple of my Squad members. We have enjoyed it very much: The landscape/terrain is very good looking and the FinRus-type open grass airfields are nice and realistic looking! ;)

Couple of things (I have discussed with asw (map maker) too):

1) The distances are too long to CT use between couple of fields. Asw told he can add here and there airfields in the next AH II update. This is becoming a GREAT SEA map and with couple of adjustments it's very good to CT, too!:)

2) Is it possible to limit in the CT the Battle area for example in the middle of the map closing edge fields away? The huge maps (512 x 512 miles) are too big to CT when there's 20 - 50 players (asw, I have an idea, I write to our private forum...)

3) Fork, can you adjust plane setup that Spit XIV is avbailable only for couple of fields. Everybody knows that it's an uber plane there. They didn't had Spit XIV's in every part of Europe in those days.

After all: Great map and very nice setup! Thx asw and Fork!:)

1) agreed...

2) could set edge fields as the neutral side, but unsure how variables can be tweaked to just that side to prevent them from being milked/captured. personally i'd go with the the BoB map for this since at this point the allies hadn't penetrated all that deep into europe.

3) by this time spit12's and 14's had entered service and were increasingly becoming operational.  (let the dweeblings learn how to handle that spit14 and not devolve to the crutch of the spit9. or fly other allied planes).

Good to see the typhoon included. :aok
To bad the tempest could not find its way into this setup since it does fall into the time frame, not that it's really needed, just would be nice to see.

I think Forks plane set is a good one and I personaly feal the Spit 14 is not in anyway uber in this set up, and in general is highly overrated, frankely I cant understand why it is perked so high in the MA.

I agree with ya on the uberness of the Spit 14.  Isn't much faster than the 9 and doesn't turn nearly as well.

Actually, if you get it just right, they scream all the way down like little girls to the ground too.  And if you carry 30mm on the 109's, the explode really nice, with a funny popping sound, similiar to soap bubble or a soft fart. :D

But it goes up up up up.  And then up some more.  And anything it looks at, dies.

I keep looking for an excuse to fly one.
