Title: Power supply suggestions?
Post by: WhiteHawk on November 09, 2003, 08:13:23 AM
Must get a new pwersupply.  Have been shopping and reading the reviews.  Antec is highley recommended, but there are plenty of 'It worked great, until one day htere was a large fire comming from the unit.'    or 'It runs way too hot or way too loud'.
Need some first hand input from you guys.
I am loking for 480-500w P4.  Cool colors would be nice,
quiet and cool definatly a preference.  NO FIREWORKS INSIDE THE CASE, is a must.
  Oh, and $100bucks or less.
Anybody done business with aspire, allied or powmax?  They have some nice looking stuff at decent prices.

I have used Antec supplies for the last 7 years and never had a failure or problem with them and I have used many or them.

I have never used anything else, so cannot comment on others.  Just make sure to check the rail power levels.  A 500+W design is worthless if they only have 15A of 3.3V.

i had an old antec laying around, one of their first P4 supplies. Put it into a case for my new P4 setup, works great. Their wattage ratings are sometimes lower than other, cheaper units, but their compenents are top notch so you get a more stable supply that lasts a long time.
